I don’t know what to title this so Maeve  &&  abandonment in her dc / marvel verses maybe?

 the problem with maeve being so drawn to driven  /  various types of brilliant people?  in her youth,  it probably meant maeve was left behind a lot,  that people she loved kept on choosing other things over her.  hell,  not just over her,  but over being there for her.  maeve is brilliant too:  she’s so observant,  she was always going to do great things.

but she isn’t pushy.  she isn’t good at putting herself first. so she’ll never try to make people see her,    see her struggles,   she won’t try to get them to stay when they decide their futures lie elsewhere.  maeve has had a lifetime of people only wanting her ‘for now’ or until some other calling becomes more important than emailing her back or listening to a voicemail from her.

this is especially true in her marvel  /  dc verse.  she has her canon life.  she gets engaged,  it’s horrific.  she’s stalked,  that’s horrific too.  then she’s killed.  it’s not until she wakes up after her own funeral that maeve lets everyone assume she stayed dead and just...  focusses on using her skills as a geneticist to help powered people work out and control their abilities.  she runs several safe houses,  she dedicates herself to running from her own ability.

maeve never tells people she’s back because when she was alive the first time,  she got used to the mentality of letting herself fade out of lives.  why would death be any different?

maeve often loves people who have a cause,  who have a calling.  and whilst that’s great,  it comes with having to accept she’ll never matter half as much as those callings.  she accepts this a little too easily,  a little too readily.
