It  was  hard  to  accept  dragons  as  both  cause  of  her  misery  and  perhaps  the  only  reason  she  still  stood  to  this  day.  Without  them,  the  attack  may  not  have  happened  in  the  first  place.  Without  them,  they  would  have  all  died.  How  did  one  show  the  correct  amount  of  gratitude  for  it?  The  night  was  still  too  sharp  in  Gysella's  mind,  edges  that  cut  if  she  thought  about  them  too  much.  She  would  remember  it  for  the  rest  of  her  days,  long  after  she  forgot  the  colour  of  her  parents  eyes  or  the  name  of  the  first  ship  she  ever  sailed.  How  much  worse  would  it  be,  to  have  faced  the  danger  head  on,  instead  of  scattering  like  prey?  "I  hope  you  are  well,  my  prince."  She  finally  settles  on.  It  is  pathetic,  holds  none  of  the  conflict  within  her.  "The  crown  made  an  excellent  decision,  bringing  us  to  Highgarden."

"And  where  is  the  fun  in  that?  Oh  no,  my  prince,  I  would  much  rather  cause  a  scene.  Perhaps  I  shall  feign  a  swooning  episode,  and  require  a  large  fan  and  a  cool  drink."  Dark  eyes  sparkle  with  mischief  that  she  would  not  cause  as  they  move  through  well-practiced  steps,  voice  low  enough  to  keep  the  conversation  private.  As  much  as  she  may  like  the  idea  of  causing  a  scene,  she  would  not  bother,  certain  beyond  belief  that  some  great  disturbance  was  an  eventuality.  A  lover's  quarrel,  a  discovered  affair,  a  fight  or  a  faint  or  something.  And  she  waited  with  bated  breath  for  it.  "I  shall  be  carefully  spacing  my  time,  however,  throughout  the  night.  Though  dance  partners  are  set  in  stone,  conversation  partners  are  not.  I  have  seen  your  cousin  in  the  shuffle,  and  I  simply  must  seek  her  out."

"thank  you.  i  appreciate  the  sentiment."  the  gods  kept  him  in  their  favor.  even  if  he  lost  in  the  first  round,  he  remained  free  from  terrible  injury.  he  should  be  grateful  that  the  only  source  of  hindrance  was  dark  bruising  on  his  chest  from  where  lance  slammed  into  armor.  still,  the  soft  pangs  echoed  when  he  shifted  to  take  gysella's  hand.  "the  honor  is  mine,  lady  gysella."  he  guided  her  to  the  floor,  epitome  of  princely  grace.  "if  at  any  moment  you  need  ---  or  merely  wish  ---  to  step  away,  please,  let  me  know.  i  will  do  my  best  to,  ah,  smoothly  lead  you  to  a  seat  without  drawing  attention."

"I  am�� glad  to  see  you  unharmed."  In  better  shape  than  some  of  the  competitors,  for  sure,  and  Gysella  had  watched  them  all  with  discerning  eye,  waiting  for  the  moments  they  all  knew  would  come  when  some  would  not  rise  after  being  felled.  Not  one  to  be  dissuaded  by  a  little  blood,  she  instead  found  herself  anticipating  it.  If  she  could  not  compete,  she  would  live  vicariously  through  what  she  was  seeing.  "It  would  be  terribly  rude,  not  to  take  advantage  of  what  has  been  so  generously  set  up  for  our  enjoyment."  She  offered  the  prince  her  hand,  eyes  delicately  cast  to  the  other  dancers.  "I  would  be  honoured,  to  share  this  dance  with  you."

he  watched  the  lannister  approach;  cousin  to  carilyn,  though  one  he  knew  better  than  other.  still,  a  small  smile  of  greeting  appeared.  this  was  part  of  the  ruling  lady's  desire,  was  it  not?  a  chance  to  mingle? "i  fare  better  now  compared  to  the  moment  i  was  launched  from  my  steed."  gaze  drew  back  to  the  dancing,  watching  the  dips  and  turns,  the  practiced  steps  and  the  levity.  "yes,  the  queen  chose  well.  though  the  tyrell  family  was  generous  to  open  their  doors.  the  timing  was  in  their  favor,  it  seems,  with  so  much  in  bloom."  tilting  closer  to  her,  he  quietly  asked,  "have  you  tired  of  dancing,  or  is  it  our  turn  to  step  among  the  others?"
