hope is a dangerous thing, it can make one naive of the horrors of one’s self. the doctor — the twentieth — found out the hard way just how much hope can blind you to life’s tragedies. he’d had a good run his past few regenerations , he met people , — made some of them his companion — and when it was time to start over again , he let them go , by some miracle he’d gotten them back home safe. this time was different , — sweet gemma — his gemma. he let his ego overwhelm him , distract him , — he’s very good at what he does — but even the best make mistakes. cause destruction. cause casualties. he thought she was safe , by his side , she wasn’t. she’d wondered off — breaking one of his rules. she was always trying to be the hero , too much like him. although , more fragile than him. too human. — sweet gemma — his gemma — fallen victim to two of his worst enemies — his ego — and the cybermen. a literal shell of herself.
