❝ great, you're here ! ❞ she began, scrolling through notes of activities she ought herself to engage in before the year ends. all for personal growth, discover new passions, and all that sounded good on the papers. but what were they if not distractions? a bedazzled array of headlines to steer attention away from her father's passing... that one was private, personal. ❝ now , baking . everyone's doing it these days and posting all about it . it looked like a fun thing to do with a friend . please , tell me you know how to ? ❞

engrossed in the craft of choice for the day, dyanna was caught off guard by the older woman's call. confusion brushes upon her features briefly, only dispelled by her next set of words. a giggle soon follows, allowing for the other to wipe off unwanted shimmer on her skin. ❝ not a scrooge at all, ❞ she says as a matter of fact, accompanied by a smile. ❝ glitter can be tricky, not everyone can pull it off. ❞ light taps on her nose, as though sharing a long-kept secret not for anyone else to know. ❝ but you and i most certainly could... although not this kind. ❞ eyes spot a sparkle on rhaenys' cheek, suspecting the ever tricky material to find its way on every surface within its reach. ❝ on second thought, you look stunning with it... as expected. ❞ dyanna motions to her own cheeks before pointing at the other.

 ❛   come  here .  ❜  index  finger  and  freshly  manicured  nail  beckons  companion  closer ,  ❛  you  have  glitter  all  over  your  cheek .  ❜   one  of  the  many   hazards  of  ornament  making  ,  in  many  ways  far  more  nefarious  than  hot  glue ;    burns  ease ,  glitter  is  eternal .  nose  wrinkles  at  feeble  attempt  to  wipe  away  the  shimmer  ,  only to be  made  worse  by  her  ministrations .  ❛  would  you  call  me  a  scrooge  if  i  said  there  should  be  a  ban  on  the  stuff ?   ❜

all-too-expensive ski equipment remained free of snow and not yet broken in (probably never will). same can be said for the designer ski wear that dyanna had bought, brought, and worn specifically for this trip. perhaps if she sat there long enough, quiet enough, no one would notice it's all she's been doing instead of actually skiing. but she should have stayed stayed in her seat. if she had done so, she wouldn't be desperately apologizing in front of the other. helping them clean up the mess she'd made, bumping into them accidentally, ❝ i am so sorry , i didn't see you there… ❞

❝ i'm sorry, did you say... burn water ? ❞ confusion and disbelief draws on her features rather vividly. curiosity finding a way to sneak in the cracks. temptation to ask for more details fluttered between her lashes, mouth hanging ajar as she mulled over it. ❝ twice? ❞ the more her friend spoke, the more absurd it sounded. but the thing about absurdity is it's ironically easier for her to believe them true. collection of feelings were replaced by worry, maybe even cautiousness... perhaps, the kitchens is not the place to spend her time with arushi. ❝ yeah, i mean, it should be easy? we can follow the instructions to a t. no improvising... ❞ dyanna never thought water burned, that can happen to snow too. it cannot hurt to be extra careful. ❝ or maybe we could... find someone who can watch us do it? you know? supervise? ❞

arushi  beams  as  she  approaches  ,  still  flushed  from  running  back  inside  from  the  cold  .  without  a  second  thought  ,  she  peers  over  her  friend's  shoulder  ,  scouring  the  notes  for  herself  ,  "  is  now  a  bad  time  to  tell  you  i've  been  known  to  burn  water  ?  "  she  throws  a  pointed  look  toward  dyanna  ;  she  will  not  elaborate  .  not  much  ,  anyway  .  "  only  twice  ,  though  .  but  baking  can't  be  that  hard  ,  right  …  ?  "  as  she  taps  pointer  finger  and  thumb  together  ,  her  french  acrylic  nails  clack  .  hopefully  such  a  revelation  wouldn't  count  her  out  right  away  .
