β easy. you wear a hoodie, cap or glasses 24/7 or all three combined depending on your wanted level. β he manages a joke to try and ease her before shifting to a more serious tone. β it's really not so bad β you just need to get used to moving around a lot. β

his eyebrows tense at her initial words, and his jaw clenches as this was more serious than he thought. he half-regrets making light of the situation, seeing how guilty she seems. when she states the reason, he shakes his head. β that's not your fault, then. all you're guilty of is helping them get a fake id, but that's barely anything. what they do with the id after has nothing to do with you. β
"I think I am responsible for someone dying." Paisley said as she felt as though her actions had played a large part in the situation. She was filled with guilt but at the same time she was young and didn't want to spend her life behind bars. Paisley had made a stupid mistake and her actions had been fatal. "I helped get someone a fake ID and they drank too much and died."

β you should have thought about that before everything went down. β he shakes his head as his eyebrows tense. β what team? it's just you and me, so if i take the fall, they'll find your connection soon enough. how about we go in and spill the beans so we can get a lighter sentence instead? or you always have the option of moving to a different country and dyeing your hair brown. β

β you'll only make my charges worse by essentially making yourself a hostage. i'll be there for more than a few months, and that's not cool. β he scoffs at the suggestion, shaking his head before emitting an incredulous laugh. β how do you expect to get yourself a skilled lawyer if you say that we can't afford to go abroad? and why wouldn't you want to go somewhere you're practically unknown in? sounds like a nice, clean slate. β his head tilts slightly as his eyebrows raise, thinking of ways to make the idea sound better than it actually is. β make some new socials and start posting about your travels β you'll have thousands of followers in no time. just imagine it: a new country every week and a different famous hot spot every day. white sand beaches and clear waters in the winter, then skiing in the summertime β you'll be the envy of everyone online. you can go anywhere and do whatever you want. that sounds like a better idea than staying here, getting questioned endlessly, and risking getting caught. if you're not going, you're actually crazy. β
She sighed, annoyed by his lack of understanding. "No, I won't be charged as an accomplice. I'll tell them you threatened me, leaving me no choice but to comply," she said, trying to sound nonchalant despite the seriousness of the situation. "And trust me, I'll get myself a skilled lawyer to handle it." Her selfish nature became evident, as she only thought of herself without any regard for others. "Don't worry, I'll make sure your commissary stays full," she added as if making a casual deal. When he mentioned running away, she scoffed at the idea. "We don't have money for that. Why would I want to go somewhere where no one knows me?" she questioned dismissively, her self-centeredness showing once again. She loved attention, thriving on the spotlight and the connections she made with others. Cutting that off would be like severing her lifeline. "Building my reputation again won't be fun, but being fugitives? I kind of like the idea," she admitted, flashing a mischievous smile.

β is it bad? β the light-hearted mood he had tenses as he starts to seriously worry about what could have led someone like paisley down this path. his eyebrows wrinkle before he speaks again. β i'll try my best not to. β he assures her with a tentative smile. β so what happened? β
"Do you promise not to judge?" Paisley asked him even though judgement should be the last thing she was worried about at the moment. She was on the run and for good reason. Yet for some reason she still cared what the other was thinking about her. Perhaps Paisley was worried that if he knew the truth he wasn't going to help her anymore.

β so i'm an expert criminal to you? β his eyebrows raise with amusement. β i guess if i'm the expert, you're a fledgling then? a beginner criminal. β his hands gesture to him then to her, a chuckle escaping his lips. β you're lucky i'm here. you'd probably be running around not knowing what to do if it weren't for me. β
"I guess I am just curious." Paisley said as it was good to know what to expect. She was the type of person that needed to have answers. "When you want to know something, you go to the experts. That is just the way to do things." Paisley said as it was the most obvious thing in the world.

he shrugs as a half-response to her questions before properly answering. β so what if someone sees you? you run and go some place else. β perhaps he was oversimplifying the situation. β what did you expect it would be like? like you'd never see society again? β
Paisley was a bit shocked that it was that easy. She really thought that it would be more complicated than that. "Really? You can just move out and about in the world? Aren't you worried that someone will see you?"

β that much was obvious. β amused, his head tilts, and his arms cross. β so what happened in the first place to get you in trouble? i'm here to help, but depending on how much trouble you're in β you might need to urgent planning. did you skip out on parking tickets? court order? β he teases, avoiding more serious violations, but the thought lingers in the back of his head.
"I don't know a lot of criminals." Paisley pointed out as that much was probably clear. She wasn't used to having to run from the law, so he had been one of the only people she could turn to. For Paisley, he was as close to an expert as she could get to. "But yeah, I am in better shape with you than I would have been on my own."

he affirms her words with a single nod. β well, there are some people like that. like i said, it really depends on what you did and how many people are looking for you. but even then, if you're good at upkeeping disguises and you keep movingβ they'll never pin you down. why are you asking all this anyway? are you scared of what's going to happen next? β
Paisley was still unsure about what he was saying. He made it seem so easy. "That's it? You just take off and leave every once in a while. I did assume it was one of those things where you just ran off and hid by yourself." Paisley admitted as she hadn't thought much about it.

he couldn't help but sigh at audrey's suggestion. β i don't think you're understanding what i'm sayingοΏ½οΏ½οΏ½ β his eyebrows tense as he speaks more clearly and slowly to drive his point. β regardless of what i say, or even if i turn myself inβ you'll be charged as an accomplice. they would still give you a few months of jail time then parole or probation with community service and a pretty little electronic bracelet on your ankle. β his words come as a warning and a threat, but he's honest about the bare minimum punishment she'd receive even if he kept his mouth shut about her involvement. their best case scenario was to run, let things cool off as petty theft was nothing compared to the grand schemes the courts and officers deal with. β nah, you can wear a wig or a hat. i say we go with option two hereβ cut our losses and run. you've never thought of travelling the world? going to new places where people don't know you and don't have expectations of you? β
She couldn't help but roll her eyes at his reminder of what she should have done. Being lectured was one of her least favorite things, but she knew she had to maintain her composure. In this situation, he was her only ally. "That's why you'll take all the blame," she suggested, offering a shallow solution. "Just say it was all your idea and that you manipulated me into going along with it because you're evil." It was a feeble attempt to shift the blame away from herself. "I can't go to jail. Do you really think I'm someone who can survive sharing a bathroom? I've heard all sorts of horror stories. I'd rather die than go there. And do I really have to dye my hair brown?" The idea of changing her appearance was somewhat appealing, except for the hair dye part.
