whom: the hon. alasdair litle of sherwood and the hon. huang jianyu of the imperial city.  when: the twenty-sixth day of the fifth month in the year 1885, under the reign of his royal highness king adam, the beast of conques. where: the city of corona the occasion: the coronan lantern festival, spanning from the twenty-sixth day, to the thirtieth.
The ride to corona had been long, this would not typically cause complaint, but as alasdair was not accustomed to being cooped up in a carriage for such travels his mood had soured somewhere along the way. it wasn’t to last however, as the crowds of the city were finally unveiled to him, bustling sound and bright color all mixing with the sounds of music and smell of delicious food all waiting to be sampled. even with dedicated effort, he would have struggled to maintain his ill temper. stretching his legs after finally being set loose upon the city, he had two things in mind that required his immediate attention. one was not so much a what, as it was a whom, and the other, was mention of art.
he had no taste for it, of course. but jianyu seemed the type who might enjoy a leisurely turn about artist alley. if he managed to get them both some delightful food to enjoy along the way he would hardly be disappointed. there were plenty of events to see to in the coming days, and how much of his time would be split was still, as of yet unknown. so he would savor the sweet moment of stolen time while it lasted. in his traditional attire, it was hardly difficult to find the man he had been seeking, and with a short bow to honor decorum and tradition, he shot him a bright grin.
“i was wondering where you might have gotten off to,” his greeting was as full of teasing as he would allow in such a public setting, knowing it best to keep his more flirtatious manner under wraps with members of the same sex. it cared little about the judgment and feelings of others, but not all were as uncaring as he, and he did his best to cater to the desires of those who captured his attention. this was a friendship that was still fairly new, but it didn’t take merlin to sort out from the blush that often painted his cheek when he came near, or the secret smiles alasdair prided himself on drawing out, that there was interest between them.

“i was hoping you might have time to accompany me?” a harmless invite to explore a city he hadn’t bothered with much in his own travels. not because of lack of interest, more out of lack of time. he often found himself drawn to the more wild lands, and corona, while beautiful, was entirely tame. “i hear there is an excellent display of art to be seen, and food to be tasted.” his playful gaze met jianyu’s with a quirk of brow. “shall we?”
