is that EILIDH MACMILLAN i just saw in the courtyard? i hear they’re a HUFFLEPUFF, returning for their SEVENTH school year, but something more juicy is them being TRUSTING & EMPATHETIC as well as IMPATIENT & SELF-INDULGENT. if you want some more details on them, i guess i could tell you that they’re PURE-BLOOD, and from the rumors i heard, they’re currently allying with THE NEUTRALS. personally, i think they remind of: sunflower faces stretching toward the sun, sticky sweet citrus juice on a hot summer day, blue sky sprawling endlessly over a field of wildflowers, fleetwood mac drifting from an open bay window but that might be just me.

background.
eilidh was raised in a large and well-loved but threadbare estate in southern scotland near the irish sea. though the macmillan family was once wealthy and well-regarded, considered one of the sacred twenty-eight pure-blooded families in britain, eilidh’s grandfather gambled and drank away the family fortune and passed away before they were born. much of the estate was closed off for disuse and as they sold furniture to pay the bills. eilidh grew up eating brothy cabbage soup in cavernous dining halls and sharing a bed with their older sister in one of six bedrooms. nevertheless, their family was close and eilidh was always loved.
the macmillans were falling out of favour before they lost their fortune, as eilidh’s grandparents weren’t much interested in blood purity. sometime after eilidh turned 10 their desperate poverty was well and truly understood, and the macmillans were promptly ignored by pure-blood society. in truth, the family was happy for it.
despite their circumstances eilidh was raised to help, and to always share what they had. nothing is as important to them as kindness, and even in the middle of war they find a way to maintain positivity. if anything, it motivates them more to be the beacon in a dark sea.
the only thing that eilidh has ever wanted was for her family to be happy, healthy, and cared for. even as a baby they rarely cried, and their mother swore it was like eilidh never wanted to cause any trouble. eilidh had two sisters who seemed as likely to kill each other as they were to kill for each other, but eilidh was never good at fighting, they didn’t know how to be imposing. they were building with a soothing timbre and a calming presence. it was their niche in the sisterhood.
sometimes eilidh felt like it was their niche in life, too. they had never felt any particular passion or drive toward anything. they did well at hogwarts, but nothing to write home about. then, in first year flying lessons they mounted their first broom. they got all of twenty feet into the air before vertigo hit and they wound up splayed out on the grass puking, but for the nineteen feet before that? nothing had ever felt so much like home.
it took until fifth year for eilidh to move past their motion sickness and fear of heights enough to get a space on the team, and in seventh year they were made captain. it’s kind of the first big accomplishment they’ve ever experienced.
what they want to do after graduation is play quidditch professionally, but what they know they should do is take a steady, stable job at the ministry with good pay and room for upward mobility. the thought of it seems incredibly dull, but also the best way to help their family.
connections.
bad blood — pure-blood students who know of their family and their so-called fall from grace, who resent their lack of interest in upholding or espousing the sanctity of blood purity
they were kids that i once knew — pure-blood childhood friends who fell out of contact when the last ties were cut between the macmillans and pure-blood society, maybe they reconnected at hogwarts, maybe they hate each other now, maybe they harbour fond memories of childhood summers tainted by family tensions
idk more stuff i’ll come up with tomorrow i’m TiredTM
