i think also just pinterest needs to show less white women when writers look for the perfect pics to use. it is so hard to find poc ones when you search different stuff, and even harder to find one that matches the fic perfectly. just saying that sometimes the problem stretches wider than just that one author. sometimes its just super hard to find the right picture that also is of a poc. sometimes you can't win all. i truly hate that, but it's unfortunately just how the society we live in works

absolutely! society is not faultless for for pushing the “whiteness is beauty” agenda. pinterest is a part of the social problem since whenever “aesthetic” is attached to a search, the results are photos of white women for endless scrolls. in that regard, yes, it is more difficult to find poc represented in the same way—that is unfortunate.

however, that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to remain inclusive when it comes to your moodboards especially regarding reader insert fics where your reader can be any race, any ethnicity, any shape, any skin tone. there are ways to make beautiful, absolutely stunning visuals without using images of actual people—scenery, items, fabrics, png’s, the whole nine yards. does it take a little extra effort? yes. as i said, unfortunately so.

it is ultimately your choice to determine whether or not being inclusive and true to your word as a reader insert author to remain inclusive and go the extra mile or continue to reinforce the rhetoric that moodboards are “just for aesthetics” and therefore white women are aesthetic enough for your work while poc are not.

yes this is “just how society is”, but some of us are tired of being pushed out of spaces and will fight for our seat at the table.
