harlow had once composed a list of all the things he hoped to accomplish before he reached thirty. a grand, five year plan so to speak. for the most part, it was something he’d managed quite well and on track to continue down the path for life he’d crafted for himself. then the world had ended and he lost everything. he twisted into something dark and ugly to survive, and it was only when he’d first stumbled across a rather cutthroat group and a pair of sisters that things began looking up. no longer was he alone and constantly terrified. now he mattered. he was important. it wasn’t the life he’d once dreamed for himself, but it was something.

walking carefully through the town they’d secured and claimed as their own but was not yet inhabited ( if asked, harlow would assume their leader intended to fortify the place for them at some point ) - harlow cast a cautious glance in the direction of the youngest davis’. iris had become like a sister to him, and while the man would have happily coddled the girl and taken on the extra work himself, their little group of misfit toys were in agreement that everyone earned their keep ( which was why both davis’ carefully inspected each building inside and out before moving on ). “make note of anything that catches your eye but don’t touch, ya hear? we finish the run without issues and make it home, we can typically put in requests. next group will grab it if its not too important.” as if the prove his point, the man waved a small piece of paper of objects to snag during their walk through. “but stick close, yeah? group a few days back saw a few of the aliens lurking about. stay alert, yeah?”
