Whoa okay, so one of the two gods released when Solas’ ritual is interrupted is confirmed to be Elgar’nan (the All-Father of the elven pantheon.)

Ethyral/Ellana has many thoughts, one of which is—- “Great, my worst fear is now confirmed with him being free” and “Hey! Brother! Meet me at Skyhold at 3am. I just wanna talk. 🔪🔪”

𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐍 𝐋𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐍 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐇

Clan Lavellan is a nomadic Dalish clan that wanders the wilderness in the northern Free Marches between the territorial boundaries of the city-states to avoid being attacked by humans, who will be less inclined to attack the Dalish out of fear of accidentally instigating one of their neighbors by infringing on their territory. Like other Dalish clans, they maintain their religious and cultural views despite the Chantry criminalizing the elven faith.

𝙿𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚎 𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚊𝚕 𝚘𝚛 𝚛𝚎𝚙𝚘𝚜𝚝. 𝙿𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚕𝚜 𝙳𝙽𝙸.

𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧

Based on the Irish, Scottish, and Celtic Paganism. They are forest dwellers with their main sources of food coming from foraging and hunting.

Clan Lavellan is community oriented and focused on family. Children are few and rare and for this reason looked at as blessings from the elven gods.

A clan of mostly hunters, healers, navigators and storytellers with mages being a rarity. Clan Lavellan is one of the rare one's to limit their mages to two or three. That's why when Ellana is born (even with a strange green glow around her), at first it concerns her parents and clan, but it is soon forgotten, being looked at as a sign of her being a future mage, of which the clan was in desperate need of since the Keeper was the only mage at the time.

When Ellana is little and shows more signs of her abilities as a mage, practically having a natural talent for magic, Keeper Deshanna trains her. Not long after when Ellana's parents are killed, Keeper Deshanna adopts Ellana as her own daughter too, preparing to make her her First (apprentice mage to the Keeper.)

Keeper Deshanna is an older woman who had lost her husband and child in an accident many years ago. She is a powerful mage and wonderful storyteller, looking at Ellana as a second chance to start over as a mother.

Despite her role in the clan, Ellana comes off as a bit odd or a "Black Sheep" at times. She not only shows a bit of a rebellious streak and a ton of willful spirit, but she tends to be open-minded about certain things that go against the things she is taught within her clan that also gets her into trouble---- for one, Ellana is curious about spirits and the Fade and thinks they aren't something to be afraid of. However, Dalish mages do not use any magic involving spirits, as they believe all spirits are dangerous. The Dalish believe “there’s no such thing as a good spirit”. Spirits cannot be broken down into clear-cut categories and differ from each other, just as people do. Furthermore, the Dalish do not think of demons as evil, but as wild animals, dangerous if treated carelessly.

There was an incident one time where Ellana snuck away from camp to leave an offering of spiced jerky at a statue for Fen'Harel out of compassion for the often looked down upon elven god. Ellana then found herself face to face with a lone wolf, of which was killed in front of her by one of the hunters from the clan. It was a traumatic moment, and one she never forgot, not only because Keeper Deshanna scolded her, but because her act of compassion turned into a tragedy.

Ellana eventually takes her role as First to the Keeper of Clan Lavellan.

After Ellana goes to the conclave and becomes the Inquisitor, Clan Lavellan contacts her. Through an assortment of operations on the war table, the Lavellan clan, then camped out near the Free Marches city state of Wycome, becomes a part of a dangerous political mechanism, and is at risk of being wiped out if the proper options are not chosen. The clan is later attacked, accused of having brought a plague, and potentially become victim of human retribution for multiple charges of which they were innocent.

Ellana is now the last of Clan Lavellan.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐬

Many thoughts, but mostly just thinking about Ethyral and her titles in the elven pantheon---

Originally known as the "Goddess of Spirit", something gifted to her by her "sister", Mythal because of the fact she mostly worked with the Spirits. She was also known for inspiring others, further playing on double meaning of the word: Spirit.

When rejecting taking on a Vallaslin of her own, some came to call her the "Goddess of Hope", which fits because she would also work to secretly help free their people alongside Fen'Harel at times.

Becomes known as the "Goddess of Grief " thanks to Elgar'nan who gave her the title mockingly because of how often they would bicker with each other, but also because of what eventually happens to her sister...(Mythal's murder, hence, Ethyral grieving her sister).

And how TRAGIC it is that she is no longer remembered as the Goddess of Spirit or Hope any longer. She is mostly known as the Goddess of Grief because of her story being misconstrued over the ages until it becomes what it is known as by the Dalish. Not many records of Ethyral survive, often being looked as an omen of grief and despair by the Dalish and something to be weary of as just as they are of Fen'Harel. If anything, she does have murals, but again, it's of her status as Goddess of Grief and usually depicts a female elf weeping.

Then centuries later when she is reborn as Ellana of Clan Lavellan and eventually regains the memories of her former life, she is able to finally look past all the false narratives about her and awaken as the Goddess of Spirit and Hope once more.

Also...realizing that her role as the Inquisitor is suppose to be a symbol of hope too...she's finally home. She's finally herself and whole again. This is where it was all leading her.

Had to put my tags above because they were honestly too good and described Ethyral/Ellana and this post in a conclusion--- #just deeply thinking about how a symbol of hope becomes a tale of tragedy and despair for ages all because of one jerk twisting it around # but then destiny helps guide them and helps them reawaken and remember who they are and what their purpose is as they reclaim their power

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐧 (𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬 and their aspects)

Just thinking about the elven pantheon and how each of them represent some aspect or animal. Obviously everything concerning my girl (Ethyral) is my own headcanon, but everyone else is from the lore presented to us (so far) in Dragon Age:

Mythal --- the Great Protector and All-Mother. The Goddess of Love, Motherhood and Justice. She leads the pantheon with her male counterpart, Elgar'nan. Ethyral is her sister. Also represents the moon, sea, and dragons.

Elgar'nan ---the God of Vengeance, the sun and Fatherhood. All-Father. He Who Overthrew His Father. Leads the pantheon with Mythal.

Falon'Din --- Friend of the Dead, the Guide. Elven God of Death and Fortune. Animal representation is an Owl.

Dirthamen --- Elven God of Secrets and Knowledge. Master of the ravens Fear and Deceit. Dirthamen's symbols are two ravens, a bear and a varterral.

Andruil --- Goddess of the Hunt. Also known as the Hunter and Goddess of Sacrifice. Animal symbol is the hare and the hawk.

Sylaise --- the Hearthkeeper. Goddess of all domestic arts. Symbolized by a brazier of flames in its center.

June --- Master of the Crafts and Building. He taught the elves to make bows, arrows, and knives to hunt Andruil's gifts. He appears most seldom of all elven deities and the oldest depictions have none of the tools the Dalish associate with him. An Orlesian source speculates that June's role may have changed over time.

Ghilan'nain --- Mother of the Halla (the white deer-like creatures revered by the Dalish and used to pull their aravel, or "landships." She is also the goddess of Guides and Navigation.

Ethyral --- Goddess of Hope & Spirit (both as in the metaphorical sense of emotion and soul, but also in the literal sense regarding her role as working closely with the Spirits from the Fade aka the Sky.) Also known by the title given to her mockingly by Elgar'nan--- the Goddess of Grief (again with double meanings as in the fact she is about to mourn the loss of her sister, but also because he thinks of her as a constant thorn in his side.) Doesn't have an animal. Barely any texts about her survive and if they do are misconstrued. If any symbolism, it's the sounds of weeping and crying according to Dalish. Known as an omen of loss.

Fen'Harel --- The Dread Wolf. He Who Hunts Alone. Lord of Tricksters. The Great Wolf. Roamer of the Beyond, the old wolf, is the elven god of betrayal or rebellion. His animal symbolism is obviously a wolf.
