The island is strange. Big, misty, and very strange. Qiqi doesn’t know why she’s here, but after a quick check, she determines that everything important to her—basket, journal, emergency herb supplies, spare bandages—is still somewhere on her person, so at least she’ll be well-prepared in any scenario. Going home seems to currently be out of the question, so she decides to look around the beach she seems to have landed on and see if there’s anything to do.

After a quick glance, she notices a huge mountain somewhere in the distance, with a blurry black silhouette at the very top. Some sort of ruin, maybe? She hears lots of stories from the adventurers that stop by Bubu Pharmacy to pick up supplies for their journeys, and their favourite thing to tell her about are the collapsed wonders of days past. Maybe this ruin contains special herbs she’s never seen before, with magical medicinal properties.

Ah, but Dr. Baizhu specifically told her not to climb new mountains without someone else. Qiqi turns her attention to the beach and finds a figure standing further down, darting back and forth. Perfect! She trots over, careful not to slip in the sand, and tugs on the vaguely-familiar pink-haired girl’s sleeve. “Can you…climb the mountain with Qiqi?”

 “Qiqi is not… a researcher.” Although, wait—researchers are people who develop new things, so if Qiqi helps to create new medicines and tonics for Bubu Pharmacy, technically she is, but also not quite? She’ll have to check when she returns home.  Beyond that, if this nice jiejie is willing to help send her back to Liyue, Qiqi is more than willing to hunt down a few wubba-whatevers with her. 

“Order: follow jiejie. Find wubbababoo.” She gets to her feet, tottering unsteadily for a second before regaining her balance, and does a quick stretch, extending her limbs as far as her body will allow. Satisfied, she adjusts her backpack and takes a few steps forward, in the direction the strange white creature flew towards.

Wait, she’s forgetting something. Turning back around, Qiqi asks, “What is… jiejie’s name?” Dr. Baizhu did tell her to always ask for the names of those who help her, so she can write them down and thank them properly instead of trailing off halfway because she forgot.

Where do we start? Qiqi cannot think of any other answer, so she says, “Qiqi starts… at the bottom.”

There is a pause, in which both girls simply look at each other. The pink-haired one breaks the silence first. “Um—right!” she answers, and somehow, Qiqi gets the feeling that it hadn’t been an answer the other was expecting. Well, nevermind that—they have a mountain to climb, and daylight doesn’t last forever. Checking occasionally to make sure that she’s still following, Qiqi heads in the direction of the mountain.

Upon approaching the base, Qiqi realises to some worry that the surface is slightly steeper than she’d originally expected, but a quick sweep yields enough footholds for both her and her companion. One final glance to make sure the pink-haired jiejie isn’t going to back out now, and then she hops up and grabs onto the first hold, feet scrabbling on the rock face for purchase before finding a solid crack to wedge into.

So far, so good. Looking upwards, she decides on a path that leads to a rather roomy ledge jutting out of the cliff face, and heads in that direction, hauling herself upwards by holding on tightly to crevices and the like. Once she makes it to the ledge, she looks down and calls out to her partner: “Jiejie. Use the rocks… Qiqi used.”

Qiqi has no idea what a “wubbaboo” is. She does know, however, that in this foreign space station, there are no herbs to be found. Absolutely none at all. Dr. Baizhu should never have sent her on this trip, because if there really are herbs, they are not going to be wild ones, and there’s no point in finding artificially-grown ones when there’s enough technology back home to develop it themselves (Dr. Baizhu’s words, not hers). Despite her best efforts, in the last hour, the only greenery she’s seen are those of the leaves of fake houseplants and the spines of books in what appeared to be a library she passed by. Back to the new issue at hand. Dr Baizhu had been muttering something about “legalities”, the specifics of which she was uncertain about. However, it would be good to not get into trouble in a strange land, so she tries to sound unassuming and not-threatening as she says, “This one…is not a wubba…wubbaboo. This one is Qiqi. Qiqi does not know what a Ruan Mei is. Qiqi is a jiangshi. Qiqi collects herbs for Bubu Pharmacy.” To prove her point, she reaches into her backpack (because apparently baskets aren’t good in zero-gravity situations, whatever that means) and pulls out a spare Violetgrass flower, holding it out to the strange girl with pink hair and wide eyes. “Eat it. Good for your health.”
