regarding rio's celebrity status, i would say that he has about the same level of fame as lady gaga does in our world.
in fact, actually, let me go ahead & say that he is heavily inspired by lady gaga right now. because the similarities are extremely blatant LOL. i created him to be the main character of a jukebox musical based on her discography that i really want to write, so yes. very much had her in mind when i made him.
ANYWAY, he's a very recognizable person. it is very likely that, regardless of their opinion on him or if they even care, your character will know who he is before actually interacting with him. it'd be like seeing gaga walking down the street.
