what are her parents like?
carol has never met nor knows any information about her father as her mother, meredtih perkins, refrains from mentioning him like one does about a bad omen. meredith is an over-bearing woman who relies too much on her oldest child, mark perkins, for emotional support. once he turned eighteen he left his home to pursue a life of his own -- which impacted carol. the relationship between carol and her mother is complicated. ever since she was a child, her mother would make comments about carol's looks --- how her hair wasn't done right, she needed to watch her figure, that wearing makeup made her look 'easy', all the things a mother should not say to her own child. since mark had left, meredith tried to be attentive to carol and her needs, realizing too late that she had burned their bridge from the emotional and verbal abuse.

i still believe that carol will always care for steve even after the end of their friendship from s1. we don't see her interacting with many people besides him, tommy, tina, and the girl who told steve about jon's pictures. honestly, i feel like the girl's friendships were trying to fill the void that steve left. carol can be brash and mean, but she is can also be loving (in her own way). i wish we got more information about how they became a trio.

despite my blog's color scheme, carol in fact hates the holiday season and refuses to participate in the festivities. tommy and steve nicknamed her 'scoorge' due to this. she neither accepts nor gives gifts during the christmas season, instead she will surprise her loved ones with gifts on random days during the year or will give extra presents during their birthdays.

thinking about how carol doesn't really have anyone that she's close to besides tommy and steve (and possibly tina). i believe that she doesn't have the greatest home life either. her only family members are her older brother who left town the day he turned 18 --- due to their mother, and her mother who had instilled to carol that beauty was everything when she was a kid. i feel like this explains why she is cold and aggressive to everyone around her --- she never had a stable relationship as a kid and due to the unstableness around her, carol grew up to believe that's how she needs to express herself. carol sees herself as someone hard to be loved or cared for, she's insecure and rather be hated by others than loved.
