Day 14 of the #mayromance2020 #romancereading challenge and my #blushingboy is.... *drumroll* .... Duke Edward Allen Dihas from I Choose the Emperor Ending! Haha, I really love how innocent he is and how bashful he becomes as the series progresses. He initially was very confused as to why his heart beat for this 'odd Easterner boy', but after finding out Rino's real gender, he becomes more and more bashful as time moves on. Synopsis: Marina, develops a VR device that can bring fictional worlds to life. The day before it's launch, she decides to enter one of her novels, Lasnarok, but finds herself instead as a slave girl. As a modern person who can't stand discomfort, she tries to switch to a the Aristocrat settings but finds she can't change her character nor can she log out. After being captured (thinking that she is an escaped slave), she meets the main character of her novel, Duke Edward Allen Dihas and decides that the fastest path to comfort is by the side of the Duke. She then decides to hide her gender by disguising herself as a boy called Rino, a Technician from the East and attempts to sway the Duke to her favour. Having writen the novel of Lasnarok, she knows that if she leaves the Duke alone, his enemies will come and destroy his castle and his people. With this in mind, she tries to strike a deal with the Duke, proposing to make him more powerful than the Emperor. Unfortunately, her plan doesn't go so well initially, but it works out in the end. The Duke then decides to utilise Rino's skillset of modern technology to help enhance his castle, however Rino knows that she needs to do what she can to protect the Duke and his people, because she wrote into her book at the Emperor will end up killing all of the people in Castle Dihas. Chapter 20 of I Choose the Emperor Ending is now up on @tappy_toon I really liked how @jaradog_toon captured Marina/Rino's expression here. Despite the tantrums thrown by Diathe, Marina still treasures her as a character she created in her story, and I think that it was drawn really well. It's very sweet! As a modern peson who can’t stand discomfort, she tries to switch to a the Aristocrat settings but finds she can’t change her character nor can she log out. Whilst captive, she meets the main character of her novel, Duke Edward Allen Dihas and decides that to find a way to survive (in comfort? 😅) she escapes, hides her gender by disguising herself as the boy Rino, a Technician. Having writen the novel of Lasnarok, she knows that if she leaves the Duke alone, his enemies will come and destroy his castle and his people. With this in mind, she tries to strike a deal with the Duke, proposing to make him more powerful than the Emperor. Unfortunately, her plan doesn’t go so well. 🤦‍♀️🤭

There are only 16 chapters out so far, but the characters are fun and lively and there are certainly comedic bits. I like how the main character Marina/Rino is also acutely aware that she is in her own novel but moves past seeing the people around her as more than “characters” but individuals, finding ways to help them and improve their lives.

I adored how the artist rendered some of the characters reactions in some of the scenes. I’m looking forward to seeing the #romance aspect develop, but I also like how well it’s being paced as I feel that when the romance does happen, it won’t seem as rushed and feel more genuine. I’m a big fan of romance series, but I also like them to be realistic and have the characters build up that foundation of trust between them first rather than “love at first sight”.
