I'm on a rewatch and I keep finding symbolism in things that I thought were random at first.

The scene with the wallet in the busy intersection, where Do-Kyung attempts to get it, but cant because of oncoming traffic. (Jin-sang was an idiot for throwing it)

But then Hae-young drunkenly goes forward and gets it and returns it to him .

I feel like that foreshadows how he is unable to open up his heart again by himself, but Hae-young without being asked, does it for him.

N이/가 어디 있다?

The most basic meaning of this expression is “Where is N?” If the noun has a final consonant, then you use -이. If not, use -가.

However, I’ve commonly heard another use of this expression in k-dramas that has a slightly different nuance. It’s used kind of as an exaggeration that means something like “It’s impossible to find N anywhere.”

I heard this expression in the past 2 dramas I’ve watched, so I’ll just use those as examples.

Another Oh Hae Young (또 오해영) | Ep. 7

For context: Hae Young’s parents came over to her apartment to grill meat and they invited her neighbor (Do-Kyung) to join them. To convince him to stay, her mom said, (this was around 50:46 by the way):

“사는데 먹는 거만큼 중요한 게 어디 있어?” literally translates to “Where is there a thing that’s as important as eating in life?”

She’s implying that it’s impossible to find something as important as eating anywhere, therefore eating is the most important thing. A more liberal translation would be, “Is there anything more important in life than eating?”

The Sound of Your Heart (마음의 소리) | Ep. 4

For context: Seok drew comics about his family's weird antics and showed them to his family. They were in disbelief that anyone would find them funny, so his dad says:

“이렇지 않은 집이 어디 있어?” literally translates to “Where is there a family that isn’t like this?”

He’s implying that their family is so normal that it’s impossible to find one that isn’t like them anywhere. So a more liberal translation would be, “Who doesn’t have this kind of family?” or “Who’s family isn’t like this?”

또, 오해영 – Oh Haeyoung Again

Been wanting to write review of drama(s) that i’ve watched and i’m gonna start from my favorite drama on 2016, Oh Haeyoung Again a.k.a Another Miss Oh a.k.a  또, 오해영.

Basically, it’s a romantic-comedy drama about a complicated relationship between a man and a woman that caused by misunderstanding that led to an unexpected fate. here’s the plot;

Oh Hae-Young (Seo Hyun-Jin) is dumped by Han Tae-Jin (Lee Jae-Yoon) on the day before their wedding. She is unable to tell the truth about what happened and lies to others about what happened. She works as an assistant manager for a company's restaurant division. She pretends that nothing happened.

Meanwhile, Park Do-Kyung (Eric) is a popular sound engineer. One year ago, he was supposed to marry Oh Hae-Young (Jeon Hye-Bin), but she did not appear at their wedding. He became desperate. Later, he hears from his friend Lee Jin-Sang (Kim Ji-Suk) that Oh Hae-Young is about to marry Han Tae-Jin. Park Do-Kyung gets drunk and places her fiancé in a difficult predicament. Park Do-Kyung is unaware that the fiancé is about to marry another woman named Oh Hae-Young. The fiancé is soon imprisoned and right before his imprisonment he lies to Oh Hae-Young. He tells her that he does not love her anymore, but he also vows to take revenge on Park Do-Kyung. For his part, Park Do-Kyung soon has visions of a woman he has never met. He soon realizes the woman is another Oh Hae-Young.

What makes this drama special is the chemistry between the lead actors (Eric and Seo Hyun Jin). Both of them have such a great chemistry, they succeed to make me as a viewer emotionally drown to the drama. For me, I watched the first two episodes of the drama to decide if I would continue watching it or I will pass it and this drama is already winning me in the first two episodes.

Seo Hyun Jin’s acting is on point that whenever she cries, laughs, fall in love, and even angry, I would too. The same goes for Eric, honestly, this is the first time I watched his acting and i absolutely will watch his next drama. Jeon Hye Bin /the-pretty-oh-haeyoung/ also succeed getting on my nerve by her great acting (well, ofcourse by her villain acting). 

Not only the two leads got great chemistry and acting skills, the supporting actors also have excellent part in making this drama successful. The side story of the supporting actors tends to make me feel bored and it always appears as a formality (if that make sense), but the side story in this drama is pleasantly entertaining.

Honestly, I watched this drama because of the director. This drama is directed by Sung Hyun Wook, the first work of his that i’ve watched is Marriage, Not Dating (2014) which have me mesmerized by his directing skills. Sung Hyun Wook 감독 nim is known to be a great director for romantic-comedy genre. And as expected, Another Miss Oh is another success by him.

Each episodes have its own title, and —actually it’s my personal preference— I found it really cute? nice? cool? I don’t know the right words for it but I really love how the drama has a title for each episodes. The drama itself have a great meaning about life... and love... and an interesting point of view of struggle(s) in life. The dialogue on each episodes has deep meaning that makes me love this drama more and more. This drama really, really, like, really got on mood swings. From stupidly falling in love ‘till crying your heart out cause you got nothing to do, just kidding he.

Here is a spoiler for you;

CRY.

Actually, what makes me love korean drama is the fact that each drama have a new or different ‘thing’ that differentiate from each other, well, the plot. I love how korean drama always try to picture different point of view from each character, in this drama, Park Do Kyung (Eric) is a Sound Engineer, while Oh Haeyoung (Seo Hyun Jin) is an assistant manager on a company’s restaurant division. Well.. who would think a sound engineer would have anything to do with an assistant manager? the character’s story, background, and everything is different from one another making it more interesting but ofcourse, with an okay, that make sense situation. that’s why I love korean drama.

Back to the drama,

Great cast(s), great director, great story plot, great cinematography and last but not least, great soundtrack. I can’t lie tho, the soundtrack played a great deal in making me so into this drama. 사랑이 뭔데 (What’s Love?) by Seo Hyun jin (YES SHE SINGS) ft Yoo Seung Woo, 꿈처럼 (Like A Dream) by Ben, ANNNNND 너였다면 (If It’s You) by Jung Seung Hwan. Even after the drama ends, I kept listening to these songs (because its soooo gooood). 

In a conclusion, this drama is great romantic-comedy drama that wont make you bored, great cast(s), it has an interesting plot, great soundtrack, nice cinematography, and it has a similar feels to Marriage, Not Dating but more emotion involved (well, i cried—a big deal— amount of tears). 

Just live no matter how. Even if it hurts, still live. If you survive, it means you've won.

Hae Young bối rối trước lời thú nhận của Park Do Kyung... Anh không gặp cô một ngày, nhưng lại không thể tìm thấy cô nên chỉ có thể bày tỏ tình cảm qua sóng di động “Tôi nhớ cô...”

Cuối cùng Do Kyung cũng nói tiếng yêu... Anh làm dịu cái nắng để cô được say giấc và hứa cùng nhau đi đến cùng....

Hae Young phát hiện ra rồi, bí mật mà Do Kyung mãi không thể mở lời được...

Nhưng dù điều đó đã gây ra sự xáo trộn trong cuộc đời cô nhưng cô vẫn không thể từ bỏ anh được...

Chỉ là Do Kyung vẫn không thể bước qua được ranh giới ân hận...
