My favorite dramas of 2023
Honorable mention: Death Games which is still in release, so I won't include it here yet.
Alchemy of Souls Light and Shadow: As it ended this year I will include one of the biggest obsessions for me in recent years, it was a sublime experience following this drama and despite some unnecessary complaints regarding Go Younjung (who was not to blame for anything and that the hate and misogyny towards a new actress was very unfair) part 2 was a good conclusion to the story, perhaps if there had been more episodes and less insistence on the memory loss plot, and more screen time for the main couple who were the more charismatic characters that supported the plot alone, could have been even better.
Moving: The best drama released this year.
Moving is a story that is not just about the power of a superhero saving the homeland, but about family ties, friendship and companionship.
The story manages to make you relate to the characters with all their anguish, joys and despite them having unusual powers, they are believable and identifiable characters.
Everything in this drama was perfect, from the script, cast, photography, CGI, soundtrack, etc.
Twinkling Watermelon: I love watching stories that focus on family relationships, and one where we have a son going back to the past and meeting his own parents in his youth would definitely be a hit.
I liked how they approached music, art and sign language in this story and how relationships built from these shared experiences between people can change someone's destiny to live life better and enjoy it even with difficulties along the way.
Some things bothered me but nothing that took away the shine of the story for me.  It was exciting to follow the journey of such charismatic characters.
Daily Dose of Sunshine: This drama deserved more recognition.  The way he portrayed mental health was very sensitive and human.  The actors were incredible, especially Park Bo Young who delivered a believable and emotional character.
My Journey to You: The most anticipated drama for me this year did not disappoint despite the open ending.
I believe that the entire story was so incredible and well executed that the ending didn't interfere with the watching experience.
The highlight of this cdrama was the female characters, I thought that even though most of them were spies/assassins they were very diverse, each one with a motivation and past that made them neither good or bad but rather human and complex.
Till The End Of The Moon: I confess that I expected to love this one more.  I don't know if I created many expectations that were broken by the dream part, which I found exhausting and broke the rhythm of the drama for me.  But it was still very striking, an iconic and well-executed enemies to lovers.  The main couple had a lot of chemistry and both as solo characters supported the story itself.  Tantai Jin was incredible and complex👉🏻 simply the most suffering demon I've ever seen
The Glory: I had high expectations regarding this drama, which were met and I believe that waiting to watch it after releasing all the episodes was the best option, because this way it didn't end up breaking the rhythm of the story and I could appreciate the way it was conducted revenge unlike some.
It's the first time I've watched something by Song Hye Kyo and I was positively surprised, she's a great actress.
The Good Bad Mother: I love stories focused on the relationship between mother and child, because even though it is different from my reality because I live on another continent, I can still relate to some issues that are universal.
The highlight of this drama was the performances and the cast's great rapport.  If the ending hadn't been so rushed and there had been about 2 more episodes, it would have closed the story perfectly.
King the Land: This was the best romcom of the year for me.  I looked forward to the weekends so I could be graced by the smiling couple.  It was the cliché and comfort I needed after a stressful week of work.
I loved the vibe and lightness of old dramas that King the Land brought back.
And thankfully they avoided the murder plot in the middle of the story haha
I loved seeing Yoona doing an unpretentious romcom after a heavier drama like her previous one.
Doona: I confess that I was very involved in this drama, I don't think it was perfect but there was a lot of dedication and envolviment from the main couple, they had a lot of chemistry and the melancholy and uncertainty that the story brought really impacted me.

Headcanon:
Imagine KangHo, all suited up, hair done looking as fine and successful as he is, going to Yejin and Seojin's grade 1 elementary entrance ceremony with Mijoo. Ye jin would show him off to everyone. He'd be so cute with them. And you can bet he'd be cheering the loudest. 'Those and my childern. I'm their father.' Mijoo and Kangho would lit be their biggest cheerleaders. Yejin would definetly get a jab to Park Seo Jun (the kid who bullied her).
Imagine the four of them going out of the school: Kango and Mijoo in the middle, yejin's hand in his on one side, Seojin's hand in Mijoo's the other side. 🥺 So stinkin cute! ❤️

The Good Bad Mother. 나쁜엄마. 7.6/10
I would not recommend this drama to my friends. I would not rewatch this drama.
Mijoo as a kid is likable from the getgo. What kind of cute soft first kiss. I'm here for it. Why are Mijoo's and Kangho's matching stuffed animal dogs so cute? Woo Byeok's indoor baseball thing is very cool. Noorung is so cute. I like when Yejin is just like Kang ho? Kang ho oppa? Kangho samchon? Mijoo is so smart and good for Kangho's mom. I really feel for Mijoo when she finally brings up her frustrations to Kangho after he reveals that he's better. I love the pig bouquets with the cast at the end.
Ra Miran's character is so complex and interesting because she can be so nice and humble whilst being hard and greedy. She's just such a mom, and it's pretty beautiful. Mijoo is another example of a different kind of mom and I like her relationship with Kangho's mom. I'm glad this is titled to be about moms because it really focuses on moms for me.
The countryside town residents are so helpful, I cry. God I cry at when Kang Ho begs his mom to take him with him. Poor Soo Hyun. I cried at the funeral.
I thought I would never know what the face mask lady looked like. Can you believe they just let Kangho take part in the whole trial at the end? He's so related to the case??
Baek Hoon ah is so annoying.
Wow at how people just weren't aware of how deep Mijoo and Kangho's relationship was.

Overlooked Scars
They were finally alone after so long. They had the night to themselves. With yejin and seojin off at their grandma's, things escalated between the two of them.
They were all smiles as they made out. It felt like they were young once again. Back in the days of their tiny Seoul apartment.
Kangho took off Mijoo's shirt and laid her down as he kissed her deeply. He moved away from her lips only to move to her neck. He focused on a spot he remembered Mijoo particularly liked. It felt so natural. They had known each other for so long. He could easily navigate his way. He knew what Mijoo liked what she disliked. It just felt right being here with her.
Mijoo moaned as she ran her hands through his hair. She led his face towards her and kissed him again. She played with the hem of his shirt urging him to take it off. She had always been impatient, he thought fondly. Smiling he immediately proceeded to do as asked.
KangHo stated a trail of kisses starting from her neck down to her bellybutton. He stopped as he got there though.
It was barely visible, just there; tiny discoloration and marks more like patterns on her skin. Mijoo looked down on him from her position
'Why did you st-' she stopped mid sentence when she noticed him looking at her stomach in slight shock.
'Mien' she said quickly trying to cover herself up but Kangho just ran a hand across her skin. He didn't remember this, he thought. It didn't take him long to connect the dots though. He immediately knew this was a consequence of their two angels. He realized once again that he never truly appreciated how much women go through every single day.
Mijoo felt his extremely soft touch. It exuded love but she had fell in self doubt now. She was in bed with the man she loved after so long. It was stupid really to think this way. This was her Kangho. But was he really so taken aback seeing her body change? Does he not want me anymore? She couldn't help having these thoughts
As if reading her thoughts, Kangho started placing little kisses on her skin, holding her ever so softly.
Once he was satisfied that he hd showered her with enough love to appease her thoughts he rached up to kiss her lips once more.
'I'm sorry. I forgot and I wasn't used to it since this was my first time. Mien mijoo ya. Don't ever think I would want you any less because of a trivial thing like this. You're just as beautiful as I remember.' he gently pushed her hair away from her face and caressed her cheek.' I thank the stars each day and moment I get to be with you.' he said as he kissed her deeply once more.
Mijoo smiled at him. He really knew what and when to say. It was one of his charms. He could always appease her. She let herself get lost in the man who held her. Her hands roamed around his body especially his strong back and chest. She had missed the feel of him against her so much. His breath, hugs, heart beat, his voice. She found all of it back. Yet as she explored his upper body again it felt so different. She felt roughness where she was used to the smooth texture of his skin.
As he pulled back to smile at her, she saw it. In the moment they both lay still and just looked a each other she could see it so visibly. How could she have missed it. KangHo smiled at her but she felt her smile dropping.
She raised her hand to meet the constellations of scars at the top right of his chest. She was horrified. How did she never think about this. At times KangHo's accident seemed so far away in their lives that it was easy to forget. She should've realized ofcourae he hid scars underneath the layers of his clothes.
He noticed where Mijoo had placd her fingers 'It' s nothing Mijoo ya' he smiled brushing it off.
'But this isn't all either.' she got up turning him slightly to see his back. His lower back had a lot more of these healed scars while his shoulder harboured two as well.
Kangho realized she must've felt them as she explored him. He smiled at the thought. She always payed the most careful attention to him. He turned back taking her hands in his.
'Let's not think about our scars Mijoo.'
'Ani. I think they tell stories of how far we've come.' She said with a tinge of sadness' At any rate, ' she continued taking his face in her hands 'I'm glad I'm the only women who gets to see you like this.'
He smiled wider 'See me how?' he pushed her further.
'Complete. Unbared. All mine.' Mijoo smiled back as she moved to kiss him deeply. The only thought on her mind to show him how loved he was.
'I'm all yours indeed.' He smiled before moving to where Mijoo needed him the most.
