"Here, take this," your husband says as he hands you a warm mug. "It'll help."

You woke up feeling sick this morning, forcing you to call in to work and take a day off. Your throat is aching, and your fever hasn't gone down in the past hour.

You take a sip from the mug, and instantly, your throat feels soothed. "You added cloves, didn't you?" you guess, sipping slowly. "And honey, plus something else... cinnamon?"

Younghoon smiles as he gently places a cool towel on your forehead. You return his smile fondly, realising his intention; he is determined to help you heal the old-fashioned way.

"I called your mother," your husband admits, grabbing another wet towel to pat down your neck and chest.

"She gave me instructions on how to prepare the tea and suggested I use a wet cloth to help bring down your fever."

When Younghoon arrived home from work, he worried and fussed over you.

He had called you about half an hour ago to let you know he would be staying in his studio a bit late, but upon hearing your cough and fatigued voice, he immediately rushed home to take care of you.

You nearly cried when he called your name worriedly as he burst through the front door, quickly making his way to your shared bedroom. His dishevelled appearance as he entered and the bag filled with medicines and groceries nearly brought you to tears.

As you finished your tea, he gently patted the cloth over the pressure points in your arms and legs. Once he was done, he handed you a pill, "This will help with your fever. A wet compress can only do so much, my love," he said.

When he left the room to bring you more tea and make soup, you realised how much you adored this caring side of your husband, where he fussed over you with such love and tenderness.

"Younghoon," you coughed, and he immediately rushed back, tripping as he ran to your bedside.

"What is it? Are you okay?" he asked in a panic, grabbing your hand and checking to see if something was wrong.

"I'm okay, baby. I just wanted you to be here with me. I should have called you sooner to let you know I was sick," you admit, a blush creeping onto your cheeks— not from the fever but from the shyness of opening up. “I really like this side of you.”

Throughout your life, you've been independent, often looking after yourself and others. You weren't used to being cared for. Even after a few months of marriage, you rarely got sick, and when you did, it was unusual for you to lean on your husband for support.

Having an "I can do it on my own" mentality since childhood wasn't easy to let go of, but now, seeing your husband fuss over your cough and minor fever, you can't help but feel emotional.

Younghoon notices your eyes welling with tears and cradles your head as he shifts closer to you in bed. "Hey, what's going on? Are you hurting anywhere?" he asks softly, holding you as if you are a fragile and precious treasure, which makes you feel even more vulnerable.

"No, nothing hurts," you sniffle, managing a smile. "It's just— well, you know I'm not used to this, being cared for." As you lay your head on his chest, you hear the gentle thumping of his heart, which calms you.

With a shaky breath, you whisper, "I love you," and he instantly responds with the same sentiment.

"Look at me, my love— in sickness and in health, remember?" and god— the way he looks at you makes you fall in love with him all over again.

"Now, will you let me take care of you, or will you just cry the whole time? Not that I'd mind if you do, but I'm usually the emotional one between us."

You shove him playfully. "Oh, shut up, will you? I was breaking down my walls here," you lament. He laughs at your dramatics, kissing your forehead as you pout.

"Could you please bring me more of that cinnamon tea?"

Younghoon, who had tasted the tea when he was sick, asked you about it. He wondered why you always prepared it when one of you felt unwell.

You explained, "Apart from helping with a cough, it reminds me of my mother. She always made it for me when I was little and sick. You could say it brings me comfort."

A smile spread across your face as you recalled how your mother would care for you, just as your husband is now. "My mom loved making this tea because it was one of the few times I allowed her to fuss over me."

Your husband understands knowing that you prefer to be independent and rarely rely on others. This has never caused any issues between you two, as you've openly discussed it, but witnessing you depend on him now—allowing him to take care of you—fills him with happiness.

He's never witnessed this vulnerable side of you before, and he feels grateful to be one of the few people in your life who can.

To him, you are beautiful, even with snot running down your face, and he tells you so. You laugh it off, but he knows you believe him when you smile at him in a way that could make him marry you again, just to show how much he loves you.

Backstory: Wumutimu se povedlo vyjet během bakalářského studia z Číny na erasmus do Jižní Koreje. Nepochyboval o tom, že to byla ta nejlepší věc, kterou v životě udělal. Čínské školství mu nevyhovovalo. Nepříjemná situace platila kór pro jeho obor, který se vyučoval pod notama režimu. Navíc mu po vystudování hrozily represe a mohl by se lehce stát nepohodlným. Nebýt studia, skoro by se o něm dalo říct, že do Koreje uprchl a ačkoli byl prioritně zahraniční student, teprve pak možná imigrant, věděl, že ho nečekají lehké roky ani tady, v Seoulu. Nastoupil na Haneulskou univerzitu, kterou navštěvoval v době svého výměnného pobytu, tentokrát ale permanentně, ne jen dočasně. Škola se sice tvářila přátelsky a prointegračně, Wumuti ale měl odzkoušené své. Během erasmu ho sice Korea nadchla, okusil ale i studentskou vřelost vůči cizincům. A byl to do budoucna jeho velký strach.
