Disproving the lies ELF have spread about Sungmin

So I know that SJ fans are far and few between on this site at this point, and even fewer are Sungmin fans, and furthermore I know that Sungmin's marriage is old news. However, I'm tired of the fact that people still believe the falsehoods that K-ELF spread about him and every time NB or the like publishes an article about him, the same old rumors come up. I've seen a ton of lists detailing all the things Sungmin did wrong, but few explaining why all these things are either false or unsubstantiated. For the most part, fans have been forced to approach these accusations in a piecemeal fashion, and I'd like to put an end to that with this thread. I've made a compilation of all the accusations listed on 나무위키, which is sort of like the korean version of Wikipedia, and described why each one is either false or unverified. I also hope this post puts to rest any qualms fans had over Sungmin's alleged behavior. 1. 성민이 비판받는 이유를 요약하면, 가장 큰 이유로 성민이 슈퍼주니어 그룹 활동을 전혀 배려하지 않고 이기적으로 행동했다는 것. The main reason that Sungmin is receiving hate is because he has had no consideration for Super Junior's activities and acted on his own accord. Sungmin has dedicated over 10 years of his life to Super Junior and has never once been in an attitude scandal or been accused of disrespecting fans. Were that the case, fans would have been able to provide substantial evidence showing a long history of rude and negligent behavior, and yet none has ever been presented. 2. 성민이 김사은과 연애를 하고 있던 것은 팬들이라면 대부분 알고 있던 사실로, 팬들도 다들 알지만 슈퍼주니어를 위해 쉬쉬하는 분위기였다. 그러나 찌라시에서 먼저 열애설이 터지자 성민의 블로그에 팬들이 '너를 위하고 슈주를 위해서 티를 내지 않아주면 안 되겠냐'는 비밀 댓글을 달자, 성민은 댓글을 삭제하고 이웃을 끊어버렸다. Most fans knew that Sungmin and Saeun were dating, but they kept it secret for the sake of Super Junior. As soon as tabloids caught wind of his relationship, however, a fan left secret messages on his blog telling him "For the sake of you and the group, shouldn't you reveal it?" Sungmin deleted the comment and unfriended the fan. (a) You can't make claims like this and then not present evidence. This is the internet. If you didn't document, it didn't happen. Anyone can say, "I left a comment and he deleted it! I left a comment and he unfollowed me!" But if there's no proof of this happening, why should anyone believe you? I wanna see the receipts. (b) Deleting those comments would have been in his own best interest. What if someone were to hack into his account and make those comments public? We have no idea what was in those comments. It could have contained personal information about him or Saeun. 3. 그 후 열애설이 터지자 어떤 팬이 적은 '떠날 사람은 떠나고 남을 사람은 남아라.'라는 포스팅에 공감을 누르기까지 했다. After his relationship was revealed, a fan wrote "Those who will leave will leave and those who will remain will remain," and Sungmin liked it. (a) Ok? 4. 그리고 찌라시에서 결혼설이 터지자 팬들이 다시 한 번 제발 티를 내지 말아달라고 부탁하지만 팬먹금을 시전하고 김사은과 뮤지컬 공개 데이트를 했다. When the tabloids leaked information about his marriage, fans once again begged him not to reveal it, but he ignored them and went on a public date with Saeun. (a) Wait, so which one is it? Was he supposed to keep his relationship secret or was he supposed to out it? Doesn't this prove that even fans also weren't unanimous in their demands? He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. (b) His relationship was public at that point. A lot of celebrity couples go on open dates once their relationship is public. Look at Hyorin and Taeyang. 5. 그리고 블로그에 '한국 팬'을 금지어로 설정한 것까지 드러나면서 팬들의 배신감은 걷잡을 수 없게 되었다. When it was revealed that Sungmin blocked the words "Korean fan" on his blog, his fans couldn't help but feel betrayed. (a) Where are the receipts? You mean to tell me that fans will share this shit as evidence but they can't take a fuckin screenshot? fuzMYM7.png 6. 이 때 팬들은 결혼이나 여자친구 이야기만 꺼내도 매니저들에게 '싸인 받기 싫냐'는 지적을 받았는데도 성민은 아무것도 하지 않은 채 자신의 여친 애칭이 들어간 사인이나 휘갈기고 있었다는 것. 또한 '미미'는 성민에게 팬들이 지어주었던 애칭인데 그런 애칭을 자신의 여자 친구의 애칭으로 썼다는 사실에 분노하는 팬들이 많다. During a fansign, if fans so much as brought up the topic of Saeun or his marriage, managers would ask "Do you want a signature or not?" Sungmin then pretended as if nothing happened and scribbled a signature with his girlfriend's nickname on it. "Mimi" is a nickname fans gave to Sungmin, but fans were engraged when they found out when they found out Sungmin used "Mimi" as a nickname for Saeun. (a) Why are fans assuming that Sungmin had control over his managers? Sungmin is still an employee of SM. They still can dictate what he does and does not do. It's possible his managers were instructed not to talk about it. This is also quite different from the 'interesting' translations I've seen from i-fans, including that "bodyguards threatened fans" who mentioned Saeun. (b) Saeun's real name isn't Saeun, it's Sangmi. Her nickname is Mimi. © So fans do admit that "Mimi" is Sungmin's nickname, but somehow now it refers to Saeun and not himself? Can ELF now read minds as well? There's no evidence that his signature referred to her. 7. 신동이 라디오 DJ 6주년 겸 슈퍼주니어-M 6주년에 관한 이야기를 나누던 중 성민이 갑자기 '내 친구 김미미 생일!' 이라고 말했고, 2분 후 신동이 문자 소개를 할 때 '오빠들 잠실동에 우리 강아지 김미미 30살 생일이에요 축하해 주세요. 사랑해~'라는 문자가 왔다. In the middle of their talk on Shimtapa re: Shindong's 6th year as a radio DJ and SJ-M's 6th year anniversary, Sungmin suddenly said, "It's my friend Kim Mimi's birthday!" Two minutes later, Shindong read aloud a text that came, saying "Dear oppas, it is our puppy Kim Mimi's 30th birthday, please congratulate me. I love you~" (a) I don't see the problem here unless you're someone who can't handle the idea that SJ are human beings who have relationships. But I thought it wasn't about the marriage? I thought it wasn't about the relationship? 8. 아이돌 그룹 멤버의 결혼설이 돌면 그룹 활동에 타격을 받을 것이 분명한데도 성민은 단지 '김사은과 처음 만난 12월 13일에 결혼하고 싶다'는 이유만으로 12월 13일을 결혼 날짜로 잡았으며, 멤버들과 부모님, 회사까지 모두 결혼을 말렸는데도 불구하고 끝까지 고집을 부렸다고 한다. 슈퍼주니어 활동보다 자신의 결혼이 우선이었던 것. While rumors of his marriage were circulating, and it was clear that it would deal a huge blow to the member's activities, Sungmin was adamant about getting married on 12/13, even though his members, his parents, and his company were all against the marriage. He put his own marriage ahead of the groups activities. (a) Since Sungmin's antis don't seem to have social lives or anyone to love, I guess they aren't aware of the fact that planning a wedding can take months, if not years, and it can cost thousands of dollars to cancel plans or move the date around. Furthermore, the members are busy almost all year round; there will never be a "perfect" time that doesn't inconvenience at least one of them in some way. Sungmin could move the date, but he had no way of knowing whether or not THAT date will conflict with something later on. (b) Being an idol is a JOB. He's allowed the occasional moment in his life to prioritize himself, like all of us in the rest of the world. © How would fans know what the members, his own FAMILY, and SM all thought about his marriage? Am I supposed to believe that SJ, Lee Soo Man, and Sungmin's mother and father all had one big powwow with fans and confessed their personal feelings to complete strangers? Once again, where are the receipts? 9. 리더가 정말 힘들 때 결혼 이야기 꺼내고 편지 쳐 씀 When Leeteuk was having a hard time, Sungmin wrote him a letter asking for his permission to get married. (Around the time that Leeteuk was dealing with the death of his father.) (a) So where is it? I'd like to see this letter, but no one has ever presented evidence of it. I'd like to mention that of all the "evidence" presented here, the only ones that have any actual "proof" to back them up on 나무위키 are the photos of Sungmin's signature and the video of Sungmin on Shimshimtapa.
