with a flick of her wrist, jordyn finished the last cupcake with intricate icing. she stood back, proud of her work. "see? my culinary degree wasn't a waste of time. try one of them, they'll be the best you've ever had." she paused. "and if you need a recommendation of what to try first, i highly recommend the cookie dough cupcake. it's my favorite."

Jordyn couldn't help but to smile as the other spoke. She dreamed of having her own bakery one day, and with compliments like hers, the dream kept getting more and more real. She watched with sparkling eyes as the other tried the cupcake, a joyous smile settling over her lips at Iris's reaction. "Don't be silly," Jordyn spoke with a wave of her hand. "I'm thinking of trying out some more new recipes for the holidays. Would you mind to be my test subject?" She questioned, moving over to put more of the freshly decorated cupcakes in the display case for other customers. "Unless you have something better to do, of course. I can become a little... extravagant in the kitchen when it comes to trying new recipes."
Iris's eyes crinkled with amusement as she admired the display of cupcakes, a spark of curiosity dancing in her gaze. “A waste of time? Not with these masterpieces.” She leaned forward, fingertips hovering over the tray before finally settling on one. The cookie dough cupcake, of course. Peeling back the wrapper with practiced care, she took a bite, her expression softening into pure delight. “Oh, Jordyn… you might just ruin me for all other cupcakes.” Her smile widened, tongue brushing her bottom lip. “I can see why this one’s your favorite. Perfect blend of comfort and indulgence.” Her gaze lifted, warmth threading through her voice. “You’re going to have to keep surprising me with these. I don’t think one taste is enough.”

He says, "It would be better for all if more were content with what they were doing, and how things were going for them in life." When she brings the box around to put his soon to be purchases in, he says, "Well, we don't have a meeting, but, I suppose I can drop this in one of the break rooms." He raises an eyebrow, then says, "One lemon meringue for me, another for the break room, and might as well add one of those Peppermint Pattie pies as well." He chuckles, then says, "Everyone will be on a sugar high until they clock out this afternoon."

"I am very grateful in that retrospect, to be able to do something that I have passion for. I wish that more people were able to do the same," she spoke softly, whipping around to find a box to place the cupcakes inside. She nodded lightly as he mentioned that he would pay, not wanting to fight that. "I love making lemon meringue pie. As a matter of fact, I made some fresh this morning when I got in. That and some holiday favorites. Oh! I tried out a new one today, if you like peppermint. It's a frozen Peppermint Pattie pie. Supposed to taste like those York patties that are popular during December." Jordyn paused. "I keep suggesting these for you like you're on your way to a staff meeting and supplying other employees with luxury treats," she joked, a soft laugh following.

He says, "You are heads and shoulders above about 90 percent of people, working a job they can just tolerate, but, well circumstances force that on them." He points at one of the cupcakes, then says, "This one,.... and I will pay, because I am likely to take some home with me." After a pause, then says, "Have you ever tackled lemon meringue pie by chance?"

Whenever Joseph was in NYC to make an appearance at his family's corporate H.Q., he tries to make a stop at this little bakery that he had discovered by happenstance. So far, whatever he has taken home with him has been delicious, and he figures that will continue. He was coming in so often, one of the employees, and he had gotten on a first name basis. It helps with the chit chat they engage in while he tries to make up his mind on what to purchase during his visits. This time, the woman was working on cupcakes, and he had to admit, her skill at decorative icing was impressive. He says, "I never said it was Jordyn, just that you might find you are,.....restricted to a certain sort of career path." He glances over at the other cupcakes, then says, "Oh,....been sampling some of your own work have you?"

Jordyn loved being able to know her customer's on a first-name basis. It allowed for her to build her own clientele, should she ever migrate to owning her own bakery. Not like that was a far off dream, she had a nest egg savings for the very day. Jordyn had a small following on various social media profiles, showcasing her version of art. Delicately decorated cupcakes and over-the-top cakes for various parties. Part of her had known this bakery as her second home for so long, it felt scary to think of the one day she might not work there anymore. With a proud smile, she handed Joseph one of the cupcakes. Jordyn shrugged slightly at his comment. "If I am restricted, than I am glad to be doing something I love within that." All of her life, she had loved baking. Her mother invested in a step stool tall enough to reach the counter for her as a child, allowing her to help with any type of cooking or baking that they decided to do. "Try it yourself. Free of charge, of course," she spoke, her warm smile infectious to those around her.
