Fried red snapper fillets with umami Prawn Rolls or hei zho (虾枣), stir-fried cabbage with minced pork & roasted pork and a trio of fishcakes for dinner. The skin of the fish is crispy and crunchy yet the flesh remained succulent. Added a small scoop of the crispy anchovy’s chilli paste to give it a spicy kick.

When for an appointment in the morning and it ended early so I proceed to the nearby coffee shop to have my brunch at the Economy Rice (菜饭) stall. From the numerous dishes on display, I chose crispy prawn rolls (虾枣), chicken & black fungus and stewed potato slices to go with rice.

On the way to the MRT train, I spied on the gorgeous confections at Paris Baguette and couldn’t resist the temptation to not eat dessert. Gotten the Blueberry Yogurt Tart (S$9.50) which is topped with glazed blueberries and red chocolate pearls. The light purple yogurt mousse is tangy sweet with marbling of blueberry compote and the sponge cake gave it substance.

A little bits of this and that plus a fried egg and I have made myself a Gua Bao (刈包) or lotus leaf bun sandwich. The char siu are leftovers which mum reheated and the prawn rolls are from this morning trip to the economy rice stall.

My Brunch came from both land and sea. From land, you get the omelette and curry chicken drumstick. Though not apparent at a glance, the Hei Zho (虾枣) or Prawn Roll is made with prawn as one of the ingredients.
