The first picture is a page of the English translation of Mian Mian's book Candy (originally released as 糖 in 2000, American release in 2003). The content of the page is (presumably) an English translation of a Chinese translation of a Doors song, Yes, The River Knows. Yet Mian Mian specifies that her protagonist Hong reads the little blackboard in English. The second picture shows the original Doors lyrics. Note the discrepancies between the two.
My best guess as to why this variation exists is that maybe the original book had the lyrics in Chinese for readability to the first audiences and the English translator Andrea Lingenfelter didn't realize it's a Doors song when translating since this is never textually mentioned, though Mian Mian does specifically mention Jim Morrison in her acknowledgements page. I really need to get a copy of the book in Chinese so I can see how Mian Mian originally wrote it. I have now been thinking about this for 20 years.

It's equally possible that the song is presented slightly differently on the merit that it's been written down by the character Saining, who himself composes lyrics like, "I know the shape of happiness," or "Girl, I stole the purse with your soul," per the Lingenfelter translation. Perhaps it is his own poetic interpretation of the song, made slightly more personal to his own feelings.
