HGUC 1/144 A.E.U.G. Prototype Transformable Mobile Suit MSZ-010 "𝛧𝛧 Gundam"

The last member of the AEUG Gundam Team is finally in my collection!! I've been debating whether or not to get the HGUC 𝛧𝛧 for quite some time, due to the age and size of the kit, but in the end I decided it would be a really neat addition.

The 𝛧𝛧 is unfortunately a little old, being from 2010, and so suffers from a lot of the flaws of that era including a really high usage of polycaps and an overall lack of poseability and articulation. I was really disappointed as it made it almost impossible to achieve the classic ZZ opening: transformation pose.

However, the kit's colour separation is excellent, with black stickers for the inside of all the yellow vents (pieces which I half expected to require painting on). The only part that required colour correcting (apart from the inside of the booster nozzles) were the backpack missiles, which i masked with putty and painted grey with my airbrush.

Unfortunately, while building this kit, i spilled plastic cement on it (which I had been using to close up some of the seam gaps these older models suffer from).

I was afraid this would permanently fuse parts together and thus prevent me parts-forming it into the spaceship mode, however, luckily, I was able to pull everything apart in time to rescue it.

The 𝛧𝛧 can parts form into the separate Core Top and Core Base sections, the latter of which controlled with a Core Fighter not dissimilar to other 1/144 core fighter models.

The two core sections combine into the G-Fortress, which joins the torso and arms to the waist and legs, allowing you to remove and rearrange parts to reveal the Gundam 𝛧𝛧.

A neat part of this kit is the oversized Beam Saber, which necessitates a custom moulded hand that clips into it, and comes with matching oversized beam effect parts.

Unfortunately, the hand parts available are significantly lacking. There's only a single closed left fist, the beam saber/open right hand, and a pistol grip right hand. There's no right closed fist like you'd usually get with older kits like this. This isn't a major issue, as admittedly my spare hands often just end up in my optional parts bin, but it would've been a nice option for posing and photography.

Overall I'm really glad to add the ZZ to the rest of the team, and it fits in great with my Hyaku-Shiki, Mk-II, and Zeta. Maybe spring for the Ver. Ka. if you're interested in a ZZ kit though - I know I'm definitely planning on it.

Happy Sulemio week to those celebrating. This is my contribution to day 1 of @sulemio-week-official's sulemioweek24. I saw the prompt horror and thought "Wait, I can combine two of my current biggest causes of brain rot? Say no more."

This piece is my interpretation of Suletta, Miorine, and Prospera/Elnora if they lived in the universe of The Magnus Archives.

I've also published the first chapter of a fic based on the same idea that is a retelling of G-Witch but as a Horror-Romance. Because it was only a matter of time before I decided to attempt to combine my two favorite genres.

I have more in the works for later this week and I hope I can get done in time. I felt behind schedule after I lost a week of progress because I got sick.

Tags: Character Death(s). Emotional abuse. Unhealthy parents-kids relationship. Toxic mother. War. Late teens war criminal(s). Betrayal. Politic-heavy. Murder. Pining. Unrequited feelings. Mecha. Arranged marriage (based on a mobile suit duel winner). Happy ending. Being held hostage.

Oh man, this anime is such a roller coaster! You see the tags above? I'm not sure I've included everything, but from those tags only it can be seen how intense and how this anime messed me up emotionally. But I'm glad that my bias doesn't die! (After years of biases always die in the majority of fandoms, I can be relieved in this one!).

At first, I was drawn to this anime because of the amazing mecha animation (さすがガンダム), but at the end of pisode 0, I bawled my eyes out. So of course I would continue until finish no matter what because there is no way I'm gonna give up watching something that has wrecked me.

And oh god, despite the pain that it has given me, I love this anime. The characters are all well built and the relationship between them! Despite Suletta and Miorine being the canon ship, I actually more intrigued about Shaddiq's feelings for Miorine because hell, the man has been pining hard. And I'm a sucker for pining trope. Maybe in another life they can be together, for this one, Miorine and Suletta are happy with each other.

The most interesting character development for me is Guel though. I went from hating the guy on sight to being a simp for him. He was this jock turned into a kind man and he has been through so much 😭 I'm so glad that he got a happy ending -- even though his feelings for Suletta are unrequited, but I'm glad he made peace with it. And Guel's relationship with his brother is as strong as ever! Guel deserves nice things and in the end, he got nice things. Love it for him.

What I don't like about this anime is the fact that none of the adults who initially started the war and all the crimes got punished. It was their children who bore their sin -- Nika & Shaddiq got into prison while Delling Rembran who instructed the mass murder of Plan Quetta and Prospera Mercury who orchestrated the whole Quiet Zero thing are not seen being punished at all. It's unfair.

But overall, I love this one. Too bad it looks like we're not gonna get another season.
