曽我部先生の記念すべき『ペルソナ3』の初カラーイラスト。本誌の表紙以外にも、付録小冊子や、PR用の小冊子の表紙なども飾ったアイギス。ゲームではなかなか見られない人間っぽい表情をした貴重な1枚。

■電撃「マ)王'08年8月号初出

こちらも表紙を飾ったアイギスと主人公のイラスト。アイギスの手に乗っているのは、ご存知クマ(のぬいぐるみ)で『3』と『4』がコラボした珍しい構図となっている。

上のイラストと同じ本誌に付録として付いていた、コミックス用のかけかえカバー(裏表紙)として描かれた。こちらはアイギスの手にクマではなく綾時が乗っている。

本誌特集のために描き下ろされたりせ。ゲームのオープニングに登場した、ステージ衣装を身にまとい、マイクを手にした姿はまさにアイドルといった感じだ。

記事内の企画として、曽我部先生が描き下ろした千枝。ゲーム内でもあまりお目にかからない千枝の私服姿(ほぼ全身)は、こうしてみると意外に(失礼)女の子っぽい。

電撃「マ)王08年12月号の表紙として描かれた主人公。このイラストはメガネをかけているが、同じ号の付録用・かけかえカバーの表紙には、同じイラストのメガネなしバージョンが使用されている。

『ペルソナ4』のコミック連載開始号の表紙に描かれた主人公。こちらにチラリと目を向ける主人公の表情が印象的。

fan translations are themselves an art form with their own history and lore, and I do have a lot of affection for little jokes in fansubbing. the other day I saw a (maybe fake?) screenshot where someone subbed a scene where a character eats onigiri as 'jelly donut'. this injoke is a reference to the infamous 4kids pokémon dub, and doesn't make any sense without that context, but anyone who's been around anime for a little while will know that story. if I saw that in a sub I wouldn't think 'hey that's wrong? that's onigiri', I'd groan and roll my eyes at the dumb joke.

returning to いただきます, there is something very charming in seeing all the different things that people come up with to put in place of that. fansubs are made for other fansubbers on some level.

that said, I feel like the best cases of 'subs being cute' are the cases when they find a really good analogue to something in the source language. in the Slam Dunk sub, a lot of the Sannoh players end the sentences with a cutesy ぴょん pyon, and Strawberino translated that as 'yo'. early in the film, Ryota hears this and is like 「ぴょん？」, and that very naturally translated into 'Yo?', and then the rest of the film they keep saying it and it works just as well as a running joke in English as it did in Japanese.

by contrast, there's another running joke where Sakuragi keeps referring to the school name 山王 Sannoh as Yamaoh, since the character 山 is read as yama when it's on its own as a word, rather than in a compound. In English there really is no way to make this pun work, so it might be quite confusing if you don't know that Japanese has on'yomi and kun'yomi. I couldn't think of a clever way to handle it, or an elegant non-flow-breaking way to insert a t/n, so I just left it with Sakuragi saying Yamaoh and figured that English-only viewers would infer that he's referring to Sannoh from context and doing so in an insulting way, even if they didn't fully get the pun.

long time no see!! my energy levels have been up and down recently but i'll try to be more consistent. i'm doing traditional sketching again too! i like to do my coloring with crayons because there's less pressure on it being perfect.

my goal this week is to post on all my main socials everyday. i often have trouble posting because i doubt anyone wants to hear what i have to say or wants to see my art. but i can't gain confidence if i don't keep posting. it's the same as learning a new language, it's a skill you have to practice.

本人が自覚してないだけで、ARTと一緒にメディアを観たりしているときにうっすら優しい表情を浮かべていたり…するのかも…しれない。

It may not be aware of it, but when it is watching media with ART, it may have a faintly gentle expression on its ... face ... maybe ... maybe.

ナツキ（岩本夏月）は、カジュアルで断片的なスタイルのドローイングを軸に、オブジェ制作、スナップショットのようなiPhone写真や映像、コピー機に布製品など、身近な物を通して様々な制作を行う。制作のイメージとしては、「ナイーブな創造力に憧れ、精神の微妙な領域や、身体や日常の周縁のノイジーな世界に共鳴し、微妙に新しいイメージ体験を作ろうとしている」。それら作品の独特なインスタレーションもしばしばその世界観を拡張している。 近年は「ドローイング」というのが、彼女の制作の世界観と共鳴しつつ方法論的示唆を与えてくれるキーワードとなっている。それは「カジュアルさ、弱さ、もろさ、未完成さ」といったニュアンス・スタイルや、日常と近接した親密な制作を想起させ、他方で立体性、空間、動作性とイメージの交わりに描画を開いていく可能性も示唆する。それが彼女に微妙な声を引き出す言語を与え、現実と想像を行き来しながら身体感覚、空間・リズム感を用いた、つかみどころのないデリケートな制作を可能にするのだ。

今回のIAFでの展示は、メインの部屋では小さい作品・カケラたちがただ陳列され、もう一つの部屋ではドローイング等のスキャンが壁に浮かんできたような展示になるだろう。前者においては個人の蒐集棚とかアイテムの見本市のように、外からオブジェクトを眺める視線とオブジェクトが観客に訴えかける孤独で生暖かい視線が共存し、後者ではガラスに絵がぴたりとキャプチャされ、イメージとの距離感は究極に近くも同時に遮られたものになるだろう。 展示の上で作品との距離感で遊ぶことで、創造力の痕跡や作者の存在（不在）によるオーラそのものを捉えつつ、観客をオブジェやイメージの世界に引き込む、独特なイメージ体験のようなもの実験していきたい。そして展示会場の雰囲気と「精神の微妙な領域」を重ね合わせ、周縁的なささめきの世界を体現していきたい。

their enstars art is the cutest! they’ve done lots of characters including all the cutesy ones, but i’ve never seen hajime from them, i wonder why since their art style is perfect for him. maybe they just haven’t come around to it… or they don’t like him? lol

if they draw nazuna first, then they would have drawn all of ra*bits and all of branco excluding hajime! lmao what did he do? 😭

i don’t want to ask them or suggest him because i don’t know if they would be comfortable with that, especially since they’re japanese and i’m not sure of the online artist etiquette 😗

『花とスイーツと、猫展』出展作品

2024年4月にART STORE IYN様で開催された『花とスイーツと、猫展』にて展示していただいた作品です。 A4サイズ3枚と正方形のミニサイズ6枚の計9枚を新規に描き下ろしました。

今回の展示では「猫とティータイム」をコンセプトにした連作を描きました。 それぞれで春によく見られる花とアフタヌーンティーにぴったりなスイーツと、私がよく描いている『ひいさんと猫』に登場する猫をピックアップしています。
