✦✶✦
I’ve been drowning inside you While my love, it just pours out I’ve been running behind you But enough is enough
✦✶✦
Tears fell from both their eyes as she held both of her lover’s hands in hers.  There was nothing more to say.  There was nothing more to listen to.  There was nothing more they could work on in this relationship.  They went all the way they could with this relationship and there now it was nothing more than embers in the sand.
Dark red and teal locks of hair waved in the wind as they shared one last kiss.  One last embrace and they were done with the relationship.
Sasori and Izumi’s relationship ended on this day.  There was nothing to do.  Nothing to say.  Nothing to listen to anymore.  They were friends now.  Simply friends now.  They cared about one another, but that was it.
This was it.
Sasori let go of her now ex-lover’s hands as did Izumi.  They looked at one another.
“Friends?” Sasori asked, hopefully.
“Friends.” Izumi answered, hoping they could remain friends after this.
“I’m sorry,” Sasori apologized.
“I’m sorry too,” Izumi also apologized.  But there was nothing they could do.  Nothing more they could say and nothing more to teach in this kind of relationship.  They had more to teach as friends.
All that Sasori could do was get out of there.  To leave Izumi standing there while both cried.

  ✦✶✦
Deep in my soulLove so strongIt takes control
Now we both knowThe secrets baredThe feelings show
Driven far apartI’ll make a wishOn a shooting star
✦✶✦
It was hard to let her go off on her own, and at first Sasori (Sailor Scorpio) stayed behind.  She watched the battle before her as she watched Izumi (Sailor Aquarius) fight for her life.  She was surrounded by a good portion of enemies.  Sasori was scared for Izumi, but Izumi was determined to see this through so she darted off leaving Sasori on the sidelines.
She was sick of being on the sidelines and wanted to help Izumi, but knowing Izumi she would have to tell her how she felt.  She was not sure she could do that.  Sasori was convinced she was not ready to confess and Izumi was not ready to hear the words out of her mouth.  However, Sasori was so scared she might lose Izumi again.  That she would have to see Izumi get torn apart.  She was prepared to do the unthinkable.
So, when the unthinkable did happen, and Sasori had to rush in to take a blow for Izumi, both girls were shocked.  Gray eyes widened as Sasori felt something impale her stomach.  Her bodice was wet and stained with blood, but Izumi could see the spikes protruding from Sasori’s stomach.  Izumi made a move to hurry over to her.
“Scorpio!” Izumi cried.
“Get back!” Sasori screamed back at her.
Izumi’s indigo eyes widened as she watched the dark red and black clad Senshi smiled at her.  She held the spikes.  She did what she was told but more spikes impaled Sasori right in front of her.  Izumi’s eyes welled with tears as Sasori coughed up blood.
“Sasori!” Izumi screamed, desperately.
“The amphora!” Sasori called, struggling to remain upright.  “Before they dislodge!”
“But what about you!  Why did you do this?” Izumi asked, quickly summoning her amphora.
“Only around you, I wish … to protect you…” Sasori replied, weakly.  “Now!”
Izumi’s eyes welled up as she pointed her amphora at Sasori.  She called for the amphora to suck Sasori and Izumi’s enemies.  Izumi’s eyes widened as Sasori mouthed something devastating before she was sucked into the amphora.
I love you.
Izumi disengaged and held the amphora to her, tears obscured her vision.  She could only think about the last moments from before.  There was no going back what she did.  Not only did she kill her enemies, but she had to kill someone she loved.  Inside the amphora was a nursery of black holes.  There was no escape for Sasori.  Izumi cried.
Memories of Sasori trying to get to know her cascaded in her mind.  Memories of Sasori smiling even though Izumi pushed her away.  Memories of Sasori accepting her when the others could not because of her time as Victoria.  Memories from a previous life, when Sasori and her were princesses flooded her mind.  They were together, and now they could not.
All because they needed to protect the neo-Sun Empress.  All because they needed to bring in the dawn.
Aquarius screamed in agony, grief and sorrow.  She screamed from the unfairness of it all.  Why does she need to sacrifice her happiness for someone so pathetic?  Sailor Phoenix could not even hold a sword right!  She waited until the last minute because the little brat was too scared to die.
The love she felt for Sailor Phoenix had turned into hatred.  Aquarius continued to scream from the anguish until her voice went hoarse.  Bright turquoise aura turned a muted shade as Aquarius instead caressed the amphora vessel.  Her uniform changed into a luxurious dress of deep teal, indigo and black.  A small smile curved at her lips.
“Sailor Phoenix isn’t fit to be ruler, when she can’t even protect any of her subjects,” she said.  “Sasori… you’ll be safe.  Only around you, have I ever felt myself,” she continued.

✦✶✦
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go So make the best of this test and don’t ask why It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time
✦✶✦
Sailor Scorpio or Kishi Sasori opened up the gate.  It held a warning sign about no trespassing, but the dark red haired girl did not care.  She walked right on in.  It was another day of guarding Tenmei or Sailor Phoenix, the Zodiac Senshi’s “sun” or whatever the heck that talking cat said.  For now, Sasori did not care.  She walked across the grass towards a mausoleum where a familiar ghost was playing his guitar.
The ghost looked up and nodded his head as he acknowledged the girl’s presence.  She placed a bouquet of white roses on top of the steps.  She could not get into the mausoleum as it was locked, but she could at least give the poor ghost and his other dead family members flowers.  The ghost on top of the mausoleum’s roof was singing “Good Riddance” by Green Day again.  The other day it was another American band called Nirvana.
The ghost strung a few chords ending his cover of the song midway before he hopped off the roof.
“Hey!” he said.
“Tanaka-san, sorry to interrupt, but how are you?” Sasori greeted, brightly.  She slipped her hand into her pocket and showed the ghost a still full box of cigarettes.  “I did as you asked.  Didn’t touch them either.  It was your favorite brand in life.”
The ghost smiled warmly.  “It was, Sasori-chan.  I’m doing okay.  My folks don’t visit as much anymore, but you’re here,” he said.  “Last time they were here, they said something about my little sister naming her son after me.  Can you believe that?”  He chuckled.  “How are you, little sister?  The ghosts here were worried as well.”
Sasori gestured for him to follow so they could sit at a bench.  “I’m doing well.  I quit cigarettes for three months now.  A lot of things happened too,” she said.  “I’m really glad about Akane-san.  Congratulations, you’re an Uncle!”
“Yeah, but I won’t be there to welcome him into this world,” Tanaka-san said, melancholic.
Sasori placed a hand on his shoulder.
“It’s thanks to you that I got used to my ability to see you.  I wish I could help you too,” she offered.
“How, not many people believe that other people can see us dead,” he said, concerned.
“Even if you can’t hold him, perhaps you can see him at least once before you move on,” Sasori offered again.
Tanaka-san lifted a brow.
“I’m a Senshi of Death,” Sasori pushed further.  “I died in a past life, apparently.  I had powers like I do now, but they were far stronger.”  Her hand glowed with a dark red light.  Tanaka-san’s eyes widened.  “I want to help as much as I can.  You deserve happiness and another chance here.  I can’t bring you back to life, but I can let you possess me to see Akira-chan.”
“I don’t know what to say, Sasori-chan.  I … I might have to think it over.  Can you really let me see my nephew?” he asked.
Sasori nodded.  “It’ll take a lot of energy out of both of us, but I believe we can do it.”  She was determined.  She clenched a fist.
“I’ll think about it, Sasori-chan.  I trust you, but I don’t know, I’m kind of bound to this place now.  In the meantime, can you tell me what happened in the three months you couldn’t visit?” he questioned.
“It’s not easy being a Sailor Senshi and having the responsibility of seeing people off to the finish line, y’know?  But, as you sang before, life does unexpected things.  Tanaka-san, was “Good Riddance” the last thing you sang?” Sasori asked.
Tanaka-san’s eyes widened.  “Yes, it’s helped me before since I died in 1999,” he said.  “I sang it as I laid bleeding.”  He looked down.
“I sang it too when I was dying.  My friend, Sailor Phoenix brought me back to life,” she said after seeing his eyes widened.  He placed his hands on her shoulders, glancing at any possible wound on his friend but there was not.
“Tanaka-san?” Sasori questioned, and tilted her head.
“I’m deeply sorry, you are so young,” he said.
Sasori smiled.  “You’re not much older than me!” she said.  “It was worth it though.  I was able to protect my friends.  I was able to protect everything I cared about.  It’s just… it’s a lot of pressure on someone who’s almost fifteen, y’know?”
Tanaka-san nods.
“I wonder if I can keep doing this though,” Sasori looked down.  “I’m scared if I should die again.”
“Death isn’t easy.  I can tell you that much.  Living again and coming back to life?  I can’t fathom what you must be feeling.  You’ve been good to us spirits, and I know you’ll continue to be,” he placed a hand on her shoulder.  “I know you love this world.  And you love your father.  You love the spirits of this world as well.  I believe you can do it.  You just have to believe in yourself, even in the hardest moments.  And you have other friends who support you and know what you must be going through.  It’s a lot of sacrifice for a person your age.  Just know you have us spirits by your side too, Sasori-chan.”
Sasori’s smile brightened.  “You’re right.  And that’s why I need to help you spirits too!”
Tanaka-san smiles back.  “That’s the spirit, little sister!” he says.
And they both laughed.
Sasori spoke about what she has gone through in the last three months.  Tanaka-san promised he’ll think about Sasori’s offer.  The Scorpio Senshi waved before she went back to the gate.  She watched Tanaka-san float back up to the roof of the mausoleum to sing to the spirits around him.
She had growing pains, but she knew she had many people to support her.
