"The hell do you even mean by that, huh Master?" they said before taking a deep breath and letting out a small sigh. "Ah, whatever, I'll just ask you again some other time." They stood up from where they sat and made their way over to the cafeteria. "You coming with me to the mess hall or not?"

Mordred paused for a moment upon hearing those words leave Makoto's mouth. All around them were the corpses of the slain, those who fought valiantly to defend their only home, their only life, their only existence. The serene white landscape of the Scandinavia Lostbelt cruelly highlighted their actions drenched in blood. Mordred knew what her Master meant by those words.

It was strange to her: to feel so...empty, so hollow, upon killing these valkyries under Scathach=Skadi's command. Yes, they were the enemy, and if Pan-Human History is to survive, a battle was inevitable. Skadi acknowledged this fact and ordered the full might of her remaining power against Chaldea. But Mordred felt no rush nor thrill from this battle. Blood dripped off the tip of Clarent onto the snow: an indelible mark of their choice.

"Of course it's red, you dumbass," Mordred spat back. "Don't you think I know that?"

"Don't you think I know...how you feel about this?"

Mordred remained silent beside Cana as she spoke those two words. It was one thing for the Knight of Rebellion to do something reckless and crazy for her Master. But for the Master to do the same thing...Mordred couldn’t idly stand by and watch. Not when she risked losing her Master, her one and only friend...

But time and again, Cana had proven herself more than what she seemed. Singularity after singularity, her Master showed that she could sometimes be as crazy as she was, pulling off the most incredible feats against all the odds. Mordred saw that she and Cana weren’t so different from each other at times. And that...that was worthy enough to command the knight’s full respect.

Mordred’s lips curled into a grin, and she let out a small chuckle. “Then go get ‘em, Master,” she said. “My sword is yours. I’ll be with you every step of the way. It’s what knights do for their lords, right?”

“I told you I wasn’t cut out for this kind of thing!” Mordred protested as she tripped and fell once again onto the ground. Dancing was one of the last things the knight had ever thought of doing, and Mordred couldn’t believe she was talked into doing this. What kind of weird culture did this Saber have where they were expected to dance? Not that she even wanted to learn traditional dancing in her own world (she wasn’t one for those awfully stuffy balls her father’s royal court would host on occasion).

Mordred quickly got back on her feet and dusted herself off as she once again assumed the starting position. Stiff as she may be, the knight was at least persistent if anything.
