Under the cut you will find the list of everyone’s costumes as well as lists for the couples romantic and platonic. The voting for the costume contest this year will be done here. We ask that you choose your top 5 favorites in each category but then rank the order in which you’d rate them in the ‘other’ option. If you’ve got any questions about how that works, do not hesitate to ask us. The ranking per usual goes five points for first place, four points for second and so on so please put your votes in order accordingly. Please vote before the 10th of November as we will be announcing the winners from that point onward before the end of the event. If we have missed any contestants/costumes on any of the lists please shoot us a message so we can fix that !!

Adeline was decidedly ignoring her phone. 

It was buzzing every two seconds. Not from social media, which she hasn’t had on her work phone in ages. No, that phone stays tucked away in her assistant’s bag, advice from her agent - too tempting to scroll for days on end when everyone in the world had something to post about you.

It seemed like Addie would never get used to the fame. She was far from an A-list celebrity, having worked her way through Broadway (and off-Broadway) plays for the last three three years after graduating from her prestigious performing arts high school. Little did she know, everyone comes from somewhere prestigious nowadays. It didn’t make her special.

And still, here she was, at the Oscars. With a Best Supporting Actress nomination. And everyone wanted a piece of her.

Well, everyone except for her asshole ex-boyfriend who stood her up. It’s not his fault - she knows that fame is an adjustment, and the second his face got plastered all over the internet, he kind of couldn’t deal.

She just wished he’d told her he was dipping more than thirty minutes before they were supposed to be on the red carpet.

Her phone buzzes again and she groans quietly, trying not to draw attention to herself among the very famous people surrounding her. She flips her phone to glare at it.

You need to find a date, NOW.

Addie purses her lips and then flashes a smile to someone waving at her from across the room. Fuck. Where is she possibly going to find somebody?

“Sorry I’m late.” A voice interrupts her thoughts, one that is most definitely not sorry by the tone of it.

Addie turns to face the newcomer to her table and freezes. The lights have lowered slightly for the announcement of an award she's not particularly paying attention to, making it hard to see him. Her brain does some calculations. Daydream-y hair. Disheveled suit, in a way that makes him look fashionable yet uncaring. Lop-sided “I don’t give a fuck” smile. Hand tattoos. No model on his arm. No ring. Bingo. 

She clears her throat and takes a sip of her wine before tucking her hair behind her shoulder, shifting to the edge of her chair to be closer to the mysteriously late stranger. 

Addie plasters the most charming smile on her lips that she can muster, placing a hand on his shoulder as she leans her bright red lips in closer, murmuring into his ear.

“I know you just got here, and I know this is going to make me sound crazy, but I will give you literally anything if you pretend that you came to be with me tonight.”

Auden didn’t want to be here.

Award shows were a mandatory part of his job description and, if it wasn't for his publicist and manager, he would avoid them altogether. Choosing to arrive ridiculously late was his protest, or that’s what he will joke when they inevitably call him later, furious that there were no red carpet photos to plaster on social media. Give him a slap on the wrist and they would get over it. After all, if it weren’t for Auden, they wouldn’t be driving in their BMW to their multi-million dollar homes.

Nobody would believe Auden if he claimed he hated being the center of attention. It came naturally and he garnered a lot of it. From a young age, it didn’t matter who the audience was; they couldn’t keep their eyes off of him, mesmerized by his charm and natural talent. It would stay his secret that he was grateful he avoided being stuck in front of the flashing cameras this time, everyone yelling his name, telling him to ‘look here, no, over here’. There was only so much a person could fake.

His table was adjacent to the stage, one out of five that sat the biggest names in Hollywood and the current fan favorites, the old and the new. Whatever would boost the ratings. While approaching, Auden could clearly make out his company for the evening. On his left, a mega pop star turned actress. They would likely win something tonight, Auden noted, meaning the camera would be on them. On his right, a fresh face. One he vaguely recalled from a movie that caught popularity in a blaze this year, not remembering her name. Dark-haired, chocolate brown eyes, and breathtakingly beautiful nonetheless.

In the middle of his greeting with the singer — someone he has been put next to in the past — he can feel a hand on his shoulder. What she asked produced the most genuine smile. Did she not recognize him? Auden St. James, a two-time Oscar winning performer and nominated for Best Actor tonight. That being his first thought made him feel like a prick, or worse, his dad. His mother was the level-headed one that kept them humble amongst the chaos, and the actor planned on maintaining that tonight. Either way, this proposal would be a guaranteed way to piss off his manager. When the PR wasn’t approved prior, they lost their heads. Perfect.

“Do you ask every person you meet this or am I special?” Auden mirrored her, leaning in closer, unable to shake the grin that has been plastered on his face since she first spoke. Placing his hand on top of hers, confident with his actions, like he has done this with her before. He was certain they were being photographed.

“I’m Auden. Normally I know my dates a bit beforehand but I would be happy to make an exception for you… Though I’m not sure I’m the type of attention you or your agent are looking for.” Auden was referring to the phone that continued vibrating the table for the past few minutes. It was a nuisance he knew too well. His phone probably was being blown up as well but he learned to keep it on silent, tucked away in his jacket pocket, when he didn’t want to be disturbed. “TMZ pays top dollar for me, you know. They don’t usually say anything nice. But you can handle that, right?”

He winked, grabbed his wine glass, and lifted it towards hers in cheers. “To social gain.”
