[ # TASK 002 ] a list of top 5 daily essentials that hera tends to carry around

a modern and sophisticated scent for a modern and sophisticated woman . hera’s changed up her signature scent over the years and this one is currently her favorite . it’s a strong scent but not overpowering and carries an array of layers . with notes of cinnamon , clove , raspberry , blackcurrant , patchouli and turkish rose ; it’s opulent and complex just like its wearer

[ # MOST WORN JEWELRY ] an imperial jade ring

what was technically a jade pendant that she received as a child with ties to the ming dynasty has now become a ring . she’s kept this piece of jade with her for as long as she can remember . hera had made the decision to have the stone reset from a pendant into a ring after she had turned . the vampire wears this mostly out of habit but on occasion , it does remind her of her human life

[ # EVERYDAY HANDBAG ] birkin 30 in black box leather with gold hardware by hermès

she’s a vampire who’s been alive for over 400 years . to say she’s old money is obvious . she has a decent purse collection . some timeless and some vintage . hera carries herself as an elegant woman and of course her everyday bag matches that . this bag is definitely her everyday bag . sure she cares for it but she does use the bag as intended and doesn't treat is as a museum piece . she has about four of these bags at most . a birkin 40 as her work bag and two birkin 25s for the days she doesn’t need to carry as much . but the birkin 30 is the size she often reaches for the most

[ # EVERYDAY SHOES ] perfect slingback 85 by sarah flint

unfortunately , she’s a heels girlie . sure she wears sneakers when she’s not working at the gallery . but any day that hera is at work , she’ll be in a pair of heels . she can often be seen wearing a pair of black slingback heels . it’s a versatile shoe that’s easy to style and surprisingly comfortable . it’s at a modest height . well modest for a vampire who’s already standing at 5’8” without the help of heels

[ # MAKEUP ESSENTIAL ] mattetrance lipstick in elsen by pat mcgrath labs

she’s a firm believer that a red lip can elevate a simple makeup look . hera tends to keep her makeup minimal , preferring a bold red lip to be her staple . at the moment , this cool toned red is the one she often reaches for . however , depending on the season , she may switch up the shade of red

01. how many languages does your character speak ?

at the moment , hera speaks about six languages . she’s fluent in mandarin , cantonese , english , french , latin , and greek . and she’s about to reach fluency in korean and spanish .

02. how does your character express anger ?

hera’s anger can be described as a tranquil fury . her anger isn’t loud nor is it necessarily quiet . it’s a subtle rage that festers and one may mistaken it as a under-reaction . there’s a small tick in her jaw but other than that is serenely and eerily calm . her anger isn’t directed towards lashing out at others or towards but rather reserved for the confines of her private sanctuary . regardless of her anger , she tends to channel that into productivity .

03. what is your character's home like ? ( do they like it ? where would they live if they could ? )

during her life , hera’s lived in many places . each one was cultivated into a home based on the time period . currently , hera lives in the outskirts of town , closer to the mountains and forest in a contemporary mid-century modern home with plenty of glass walls and windows to take advantage of natural light ( with blackout blinds of course ) and the forest surrounding her home . she enjoys it for the most part . however , in the years of living in portum , she does miss living in her manhattan brownstone and shanghai penthouse apartment . she technically still owns both those properties , but she knows that she can’t live in those properties in the long term .

04. how does your character handle conflict ?

the way in which hera handles conflict is very swift and direct . there’s no ifs , ands , or buts when it comes down to it . she’s not one to beat it around the bush . there’s no hidden meaning behind her words , more often times than not the vampire says what she means . and it may come off as a verbal evisceration if you find yourself at the receiving end of it . if a conflict arises , her mind is already churning with ideas on the best possible way to squash it , thinking about more than just resolving it but taking into account variables such as optics .

05. how does your character display affection ?

hera grew up in an environment where displays of affection were in the little things . that has essentially coalesced into acts of service being her way to display affection . she’s trying to be a bit better when it comes to displaying affection to the very few that have managed to breach her inner circle through words of affirmation ( or in some cases , jesting with close friends that have people questioning if a true friendship is even there )

[ # SUPERNATURAL. ]

01. when did you character first notice their powers / differences ?

she noticed her powers almost immediately after her transformation . her lover / sire explained what had happened and the changes that came with it . and while initially hesitant to accept , the changes were hard to ignore . she couldn’t continue to live life as a human . she became much stronger , faster and her senses were heightened to the point where it nearly became overwhelming . however , in terms of her special ability , hera didn’t notice that until two years after her transformation . her ability to manipulate and create illusions of people’s fears manifested in a very subtle way .

02. how does your character feel about their abilities / species ?

( tw: mentions of depression and death ) hera initially despised what she had become . not because she’d become a monster or anything like that but because she had already embraced death as a part of life . after suffering the loss of her family , she fell into a deep depression and believed that her time would come . and it nearly did when her health started to deteriorate . she was practically on her deathbed and ready to be reunited with her family . however , her lover at the time had other thoughts after not being able to bear to live without her . as it stands now , she’s fully accepted who she is and has embraced immortality . she’s used her abilities to her advantage and made quite the name for herself . establishing cities , building empires , becoming a benefactor of sorts . when time becomes relative , she needed to find things to occupy that for fear of leaning into hedonism or nihilism .

03. what stereotypical traits of their species does your character show ? are there any ways in which they subvert them ?

hera is alluring , rich , and rather vengeful . minus the rich part , she displayed these traits while human and it only feels further amplified when she became a vampire . and after being alive for almost 400 years , she’s learned a thing or two about how to best handle her money , going so far as to garner enough wealth for generations . and truthfully , she makes no effort to subvert them .

04. what's your muse's favorite ability / the one they use the most ? why ?

of all their vampire abilities , her favorite was always hypnosis and it just so happened to be the one she gravitated towards the most . she’s used it for personal gain . hypnosis was always part of the chess game she played in her pursuit for power . a sure fire way to ensure that her pawns are moving as planned . and in combination with her fear inducement and manipulation powers , she’s a force to be reckoned with . however , in recent years , she’s used it less . she wishes it could say it’s because she’s changed and reflected , but it’s mostly because she hasn’t found a reason to use it sincere moving to portum .

05. what is your character's reason for being guided to portum ?

hera’s ambitions over the centuries have reared its ugly head . while she’s made formidable allies , there’s more than a few enemies that would like nothing more than to prey on her downfall . and unfortunately , that day came when a group of vampires attempted to ambush her in an attempt to strongarm her into getting their way . and once arriving in portum , she’s realizing that after all these years that it could’ve very nearly gone south . as power hungry as she is , being in portum serves as a reminder that she can live a normal life should she choose . the question is now if she’s able to or will she resort back to her old ways .
