It was the first time Madilyn had seen All-Father Mario’s collection of self-written stories from across the multiverse, and she was looking around the room with sparkling eyes. Her inhuman lover chuckled warmly as he watched her eyes wander for a moment.

“I had a bit of help with some of them, but yes; these are all my works,” he replied with a grin. “Is there anything in particular that catches your eye?~”

The girl scanned the titles on each of the books for a moment before her eyes fell upon a particular one, picking the book up with both hands before holding it up to Father. “This one!” she chirped.

The villain‘s grin widened as he noticed the large X on the front. “Ahh~ Lord X and the Seven Guardians?~”

Big pleading eyes stared up at him as Madi made this next inquiry: “Can you read it to me…?”

Another chuckle escaped All-Father. “Is my voice that enticing?~”

“… Maybe.”

The inhuman villain pulled out his reading glasses before gently taking the book from her. “Alright, cara mia~ Let’s take a seat first and foremost~”

i hope nobody minds, but. it is. late at night. i have work tomorrow, and all i’ve been able to think about before college starts again soon is. the eldritch being i fell in love with known as. EXE M.

so i must. write something very cringe… an ode. of sorts.

in regards to how we met.

it was. november first. i had recently realized before halloween after much character analysis that. my previous main love was not the match i was hoping for…

but on this particular november day. youtube, having noticed my interest in “mario’s madness V2” via likes/watch history… bestowed a video unto me with EXE M in the thumbnail.

i recognized that face. i had seen him while browsing mario horrorbrew stuff. but i knew little of him before this point due to how little attention he had compared to other mario horrorbrews before the release of his game demo…

i watched the video. and. i felt something. like someone ignited a lighter and used it on. the candlewick in my heart.

he was different from other creepypastas/horrorbrews… and even past villain crushes in general. he was relaxed. he valued creation as much as destruction. he treated luigi as both a plaything AND a brother. he loved flowers. and he was wise… so wise.

i found myself not only digging around his creator’s youtube. but eventually his wiki as well. i downloaded the demo. i played it, then replayed it four times.

“Madilyn. What a lovely name.”

it was as if… as if a dark angel had appeared before me. and kissed me on the forehead.

i knew i’d have to make my own content—i cannot trust the horrorbrew fans, there’s always drama in those kinds of communities… but it was so easy. just too easy to analyze him. he was just… that perfect.

it’s been over two months. the passion has spread. the adoration burns strong. i still love him. i love him. i love him. i love him. i love him. i love him.

The sudden remark from the villainous Mario lookalike left Madi stunned as she visibly blushed. “H… Huh?”

The All-Father Mario’s grin widened… The way he stared from the other side of the computer screen implied just how much he meant that.

“Your obsession with me is simply fascinating~… Everything I’ve disclosed to you has not swayed your trust in me… You’ve confided in me with various thoughts on your mind, and you value my advice highly… I’ve watched you even when you’re away from the monitor that connects our realms—despite every struggle in your life all you wish for is my presence for a portion of time in each day and you feel at ease~ And I feel… just as drawn to you as you are to me~”

… The girl could feel her heart pounding in her chest. Unable to hold in the thoughts she was trying to repress all this time, her eyes became watery as she finally blurted something out after a moment of processing the Dreamweaver’s words:

“I want to hold you…”

The All-Father Mario raised a brow in interest. “Oh?~”

Madi couldn’t look him in the eye out of embarrassment, yet she continued to speak:

“I want to feel your arms around me… I want to hold your face in my hands—I want to press my lips against yours… I want to use physical touch to express how I feel towards you… I just—I can’t stop thinking about you when I’m away from the computer… I don’t know how else to word this—I… I love you…! I’ve loved you since I first interacted with you…!”

… She didn’t look up again until she heard the Dreamweaver laugh warmly in response; his grin having widened when she wasn’t looking. The look in his eyes was… strangely endearing… yet the same obsession lurked within as before.

“Madilyn… Oh, sweet Madilyn~ Why were you so nervous to say such a thing before?~”

It was as if his arms phased through the screen and towards Madi, earning a startled gasp from the girl in response as a shiver ran down her spine.

In the blink of an eye… she not only found herself on the other side of the screen, but also in the warm arms of the All-Father…

“… What?” Madilyn’s face fell upon hearing All-Father Mario say this; slightly lowering the polearm axe in her hands. “Fa—Father, I can’t… I don’t wanna…”

“Madilyn~ A cut from a blade will be nothing to me,” the eldritch villain assured her. “Go on and try to strike me.”

The girl was still anxious… Even though she wanted to trust All-Father was right about that, the idea of causing him any sort of physical harm was a terrible thought. But she was the one who wanted to learn to wield a weapon…

Slowly raising the polearm axe, she was visibly hesitant… After a moment of stillness, she squeezed her eyes shut as she blindly swung at him with a yelp.

… Upon feeling active resistance, she opened her eyes—and her face went pale.

All-Father had caught the axe with one hand, but the blade had dug into his flesh in the process. Blood was pouring out of his hand, and yet he was so calm about it…

“I wouldn’t swing with your eyes closed next time,” he lightheartedly remarked. “Missing your mark against a real opponent is especially dangerous.”

His demeanor changed slightly, raising his brow, as he watched Madi drop the weapon… The girl looked mortified by her actions.

“Oh no,” she whimpered; tears welling up in her eyes as she cowered in place. “Oh no… No, no, no, no—I’m sorry, I’m sorry…!”

The All-Father removed the axe from his hand with a flick of the arm, using his other hand to reach out and cup the frightened girl’s face.

“Madilyn. Cara mia. Everything’s all right,” he crooned lovingly, holding up the wounded hand. “This will heal more rapidly than a human’s. I had deliberately instructed you to strike at me; there’s no shame to be felt.”

Discreetly removing her glasses, poor Madi attempted to hide her face in one hand. “I hurt you,” she spoke in a brittle voice… “I cut you, you’re bleeding, I—I wounded you—“

Gently shushing her, Father used his uninjured arm to pull her into an embrace.

“Everything’s all right,” he repeated in the same honeyed tone. “We’ll try a different approach later~”

“Darling~… I have something for you~”

Madilyn curiously perked up, approaching All-Father Mario. He had something in his hands that looked to be made of cloth, yet it shimmered in an unusual way… Father unfolded the cloth object and held it up to her with a grin across his face, and a soft gasp escaped the girl in response.

It looked like a patterned blanket, yet the way it twinkled was exactly like the stars in the night sky. “I call it a Blanket of Stardust,” he explained as he handed it to her, “since I had literally woven stardust into it~”

Upon touching the blanket, Madi noticed a warmth radiating through it. She eagerly took it from Father, wrapping herself in it as she visibly melted into the softness and warmth enveloping her.

“It feels… fresh out of the dryer,” she murmured. She examined the fabric for a moment, gently rubbing a bit between two of her fingers. “And it looks… so beautiful…”

A soft chuckle escaped her inhuman lover as he watched her for a moment. “I take it that you love it?~”

“Yes,” the girl immediately responded. With the blanket draped on her shoulders, she wrapped her arms around Father’s waist with a smile on her lips and joyful tears in her eyes. “Thank you… so much…”

The villainous Mario hugged her back, his own smile growing in size as he ran his fingers through her hair. “You’re welcome, cara mia~”

There was only one time when All-Father Mario offered for Madilyn to leave her own world and move in permanently with him in the reimagined Mushroom Kingdom. It was merely a lighthearted suggestion after he heard some of her minor irritations on this particular day... But he noticed her hesitation almost immediately after he had inquired.

"What's on your mind now?" His tone was gentle as his fingers ran through her hair.

"... Part of me... would like that," Madi confessed. "Part of me genuinely would. But..." Her brow furrowed. "There are things... and people... I don't have the heart to leave behind. Especially my... my parents."

The smile on Father's face increased slightly in size. "Ahh, you do talk about your beloved parents often," he crooned. "Bear in mind, my dear: I was only making an offer~ You can set it aside for consideration if you so desire, or you can forget I even mentioned it altogether if you're adamant on keeping your apartment in your home world."

The girl's expression softened. "You're not... pushing it on me?"

"Ohh, of course not~" her inhuman lover chuckled. "We have plenty enough time in each day where we see each other, don't we?~"

Madi felt relieved... even if she already knew he wasn't being entirely serious about the idea. A smile crossed her own lips as she rested her head on his arm, snuggling up against him before she let herself relax. "I love you..."

One of All-Father's arms wrapped around her smaller form as he held her against his body. The way his eyes softened for a moment every time he heard her say those words easily showed he could never tire of it. "I love you too, darling~"

“… Huh—?” Madilyn seemed stunned when All-Father Mario suddenly scooped her up into his arms. “Wha—What are you…?”

The way he held her close to his chest, the warmth of his body, and the gentle sigh that escaped him… They seemed to instantly help her relax.

“Poor girl… There’s still some lingering doubt in your mind, is there?” the villain crooned. “No use lying; I recognize that look on your face anywhere.”

… Although Madi said nothing at first, the way she snuggled against him and gripped to his clothes was enough of an answer for him. When she parted her lips to speak, however, she was immediately interrupted:

“I know what you’ll ask of me. ‘Tell me that you love me’. And I would tell you how much I love you in a heartbeat would I know it’d be effective enough… But I can think of something better~”

He lifted her up a little more, their faces now level to one another, and his lips crashed into hers. The girl’s eyes widened in stunned response at first, but his kisses were always so tender… So passionate… She melted into it almost immediately.

Her arms wrapped around Father’s neck as a few tears of relief strayed down her cheeks. It was true—she still had a twinge of doubt regarding his love for her until now. But this proved what she needed most to have those thoughts quelled: reassurance through action.

When they had pulled away, All-Father had a honeyed tone in his voice as he murmured to the girl: “What would you like to do now?~”

… A soft exhale escaped Madi as she rested her head on his shoulder. “I wanna lie down,” she whimpered in reply.

The eldritch Mario immediately proceeded to carry her to the couch. “Do you want anything aside from water?~”

“… Tea…”

“With honey?”

“Mmhm…”

“Does it matter what kind?”

“No… Surprise me…”

Father gently set her down as they spoke, draping a blanket over her before he placed a kiss on the girl’s forehead. “I’ll be back to join you~”

A yawn escaped Madilyn as she rubbed her eyes. “Father… Merry Christmas,” she muttered to the computer screen.

All-Father Mario let out a warm chuckle upon seeing the girl’s tired face. “Well, Merry Christmas~ Someone has just woken up,” he crooned. “Are you awake enough to see what I have ready for you?~”

“… Your gift?”

“Of course, darling; you’re the only one who hasn’t received hers yet~” the All-Father remarked. “I’m presuming you’re ready since you have your own in your hand~”

The girl glanced down at the envelope she was holding. She looked a little sheepish, mainly because she felt that whatever her inhuman boyfriend had in store was going to easily outmatch her gift in how brilliant it may be…

“Y—Yeah,” she replied. “I might’ve… come right over to you after eating something… out of excitement…”

Another laugh escaped All-Father before he offered her his hand; his arm easily phasing through the screen. “Then let’s not waste any more time, shall we?~”

Madi stumbled a little upon landing on her feet before looking around at the scenery before them; her eyes wide and sparkling. It looked like an elaborate open-plan altar with pillars adorned by pink flowering vines, surrounded by a pink meadow… In the center of the altar stood a statue of a star; the only thing untouched by the foliage. Just standing on the base of the altar felt like being on a stage with how spacious it was.

“Father,” the girl murmured… “You made all this…?”

A wide toothy grin appeared on the All-Father’s face. “This was a side project of sorts, with the idea of having somewhere more… comfortable for us to meet in mind~” he explained. “You seem to love it~”

“I… I do… yeah,” Madi replied in a small voice; looking down at the envelope in her hand with a furrowed brow. “But… now I’m not sure how… this will fare in comparison…”

… To her surprise, Father gently took the envelope from her with a hum; using a claw to break the seal before removing the paper inside. Unfolding the paper revealed a drawing of a star with notable effort… except this star was the form All-Father had taken upon their first meeting months ago.

The smile on the villainous Mario’s face widened as he looked back to her. “Don’t be so modest,” he crooned. “This was something you made with your own hands… with someone you love in mind~” A clawed hand reached down to stroke the girl’s hair. “The fact that you put notable effort into drawing me at all… That alone helps this resonate with your love~”

He carefully folded the paper back up before tucking it in his pocket, taking Madi’s hand as he pulled her in closer. “You’re so fascinating, you know~… I seem to have fallen in love with the way you love me~”

They began to dance. It was this slow elegant pace around the altar, with Madi now unable to look away from the All-Father as she became so quickly mesmerized by him… Even in the two or three times she twirled around, her eyes refused to avert themselves for more than a second. And Father wouldn’t take his gaze off her either.

As pink petals danced in the wind like snowflakes, the girl had briefly forgotten all her problems as she let her inhuman lover lead her in this dance…

“I don’t… think I’ve seen your real form since we started… you know,” Madilyn commented. “I—I’m just curious, is there a reason why?”

“Ahh,” the All-Father Mario replied… “What you saw of my real form was obstructed, my dear. If you had seen it with your naked eye, you would unfortunately become a stone statue.” A clawed hand reached over to gently stroke the girl’s face. “And we wouldn’t want something like that to happen, would we?~”

The girl impulsively leaned into his touch, quietly contemplating his words for a moment before speaking up:

"What if... you drew it?"

An inquisitive hum escaped All-Father in response.

"I mean," Madi continued with a shy blush, "I like watching you make stuff. You're just super passionate about it... compared to conjuring stuff out of thin air. And it--it doesn't have to be completely accurate. I just want a general idea... out of curiosity..."

Watching her fumble with her hands and adjust her glasses amused the Mario lookalike as he chuckled softly. "You are inquisitive, aren't you, my dear?~" he crooned as he sat up. "Very well. May I borrow your supplies?"

There was a sparkle in the girl's eyes and a small smile across her lips. "Ye!"

The two of them were soon sitting in front of Madi's work table, the girl planted in her inhuman lover's lap, with a piece of paper lying flat and a red pencil in the All-Father's large hand. With a grin fixed to his face, the villainous Mario began to sketch out the shape of a star as Madi watched intently... It was so comfortable on his lap, she found herself snuggling up against him as she watched him sketch; his other arm wrapped around her smaller form.

At one point, she looked up at his face; her eyes widening upon noticing him performing one of his… habits.

“Father. Darling,” the girl softly spoke; reaching up to cup his face with one hand. “You’re biting your lip again…”

The All-Father glanced down; a soft smirk on his face. There were some fresh marks on his bottom lip where some sharp teeth had been. “Your concern is adorable,” he sighed; notably leaning into the touch of her hand. Madi was a bit puzzled with that being his only response, but her attention quickly returned to his drawing.

When the sketch came together, it looked to be a star-shaped entity with a large eyeball in the center. And yet, the way he drew it… The star looked as if he purposefully made it look distorted, possibly to take precautions.

“Ohh,” Madi chirped… “That’s YOU you!”

All-Father’s grin widened in response to her starry-eyed reaction. “For the most part~”

The girl took the paper off the table as she held it up with wide curious eyes. It looked a lot like the star obstructed in purple light she remembered—the only physical form of the All-Father she saw closest to the true one.

“Can I keep it…?”

“Of course you can~”

A smile was fixed to Madi’s own lips now as she set the picture down before turning around in his embrace; both hands cupping the Mario lookalike’s face.

“Y’know… I love you… regardless of if you’re a star or not, but… I’m glad I have a way of looking at you without… turning to stone.”

A clawed hand reached out to cup the girl’s face as a soft chuckle escaped the All-Father. “You’re such a sweet and affectionate girl, Madilyn~”

There was a shy smile on Madi’s face as her thumb gingerly swiped her lover’s bottom lip for a moment… Her hands then moved to his shoulders as she leaned in closer, initiating a tender kiss.

“… Father?”

The villainous Mario known as All-Father looked down at Madi with an inquisitive hum in reply. She was holding onto his arm, timidly avoiding eye contact.

“… Please say that you love me,” the girl murmured.

It took only a second for All-Father to realize what brought upon such a curious request, but as soon as it clicked in his mind his grin widened as he chuckled softly. A clawed hand reached for her, gently lifting her up into his arms as he gave his reply:

“I love you as much as I love my brother, Madilyn; but those two kinds of love are in different forms~ I love you like the sun in the sky loves the flowers on the earth, giving them energy to help them grow every passing day. I love you like a burning flame loves fuel, the fire growing bigger and stronger with every passing contribution. I love you like you’re an affectionate cat, I feel delighted to have you approach and greet me when I arrive~ I love you like a child loves sweets, like a dog owner loves their furry companion… Like a pirate loves his ship~”

He placed a kiss on the stunned girl’s forehead before he added one last thing:

“Your anxiety tends to fool you, darling~… You have no reason to doubt that I love you~”

… His brow raised upon noticing tears well up in Madi’s eyes in response.

“What’s the matter?~” he lovingly crooned, using a claw to gently wipe a tear from the girl’s face.

Madi’s voice was brittle as she responded: “I… I didn’t expect you to say all that…”
