Her mother was controlling dictated what her and her sister wore. They had almist no say in their outfits. (Aside from jewelry) Maysilee would paint on her shoes to rebel against it.

Her grandmother (not Lucy gray sorry it just doesn't make sense.) loved music and had pet chickens. She played the flute which Maysilee later picked up.

Her dad is a pushover guy who just follows whatever his wife does.

Had sleepovers at asterid's house all the time. (It was away to escape her mother)

Mean lesbian. Had a crush on one of my OCs (Dorothy Wells. I had to make an oc to ship her with ok) and planned to confess to if she wasn't reaped.

In a Maysilee wins!AU, her and Peeta would make sweets together <33. There would also be a jewelry or clothing line inspired by her in the Capitol.

As a Maysilee fan yeah. I think I they CAN incorporate it into the story though! Have her body shipped back to twelve wearing the pin, haymitch having a conversation with her mother who tells him that they doanated ll of her stuff to the hob. Then a quick scene of it being passed around and landing in the hands of greasy sae.

more on things that i'm excited to see tackled in sunrise on the reaping: i'm really excited to see maysilee donner and understand her more as a character. she's one of my favorite characters who we hear about second-hand.

but i'm also interested and frustrated to see how they will handle her character in the movie adaptation seeing as they had no reason to bring her up in catching fire since madge was completely cut out of the story (still probably my biggest issue with the movies, honestly). i mean they can't just cut her out of the story, she's pretty integral to haymitch's games. I guess a pretty simple way of including her and still paying homage to the books is to show her wearing the mockingjay pin. and even though katniss in the movies doesn't get her pin from madge, people who haven't read the books might be able to put two and two together, or it just wouldn't make sense to them, and would be a nice nod for the book readers.

that's just something i've been thinking about.

Maysilee the girl lost to time. Maysilee the girl so important to the story but very few characters will remember her in the end. Maysilee the girl who's entire generation was nearly wiped out. Maysilee peacefully slipping away from all memory along with her arena. She will not go down in history books, she's not important to the mockingjay narrative. But she was always there.

Thinking about how Maysilee is just another dead tribute to Snow and the audience then her pin becomes a symbol of rebellion. The dead canary that literally comes back to haunt them.

Maysilee and Lucy Gray haunting the narrative in the form of things that were passed on. Lucy Gray's folk songs passed through generations in D12 and Maysilee's pin being passed down to her niece, then to Katniss, then to all of Panem as a symbol of hope.

all three (sister/best friend/haymitch) became depressed and closed off in adulthood due to their own struggles with grief.

rivals > friends who realize that they are extremely compatible and compliment each other very well but their situations will always be keeping them apart. Perhaps if she were seam or he were merchant they would've been very close, but obviously they're not. They only get to know each other in the hunger games, and are left to ask themselves what it would have been like if things were different

there is something poetic about a bird loving, stubborn girl who's parents owned the local sweetshop being stabbed in the throat by genetically modified "candy pink birds." and not being able to speak as she dies. The boy whose arms she died in, her best friend, and her twin sister will grow up to be depressed and closed off adults. She'll be forever trapped in that arena, lost to time. Doomed to die in a cage just like her canary back home.
