I encourage everyone to try to search up local astronomy groups! Sometimes there’ll be one or multiple in ur area- it’s definitely worth a shot. They’ll set up star parties where volunteers will bring out telescopes and u can look at the stars!! ;DDDD!! ❤️❤️ ITS SOO FUCJING BEAUTIFUL!! ;DDDD!! ❤️❤️❤️ You can learn about planets and stars and nebulas and galaxies!! I’ve seen Uranus and Neptune, Jupiter, Saturn, several M-globular clusters (M13, M-something idk the rest LOOL!!), double-stars, nebulas, galaxies, etc. it’s AMAZING!! The one I go to is free, and I believe some are free/some are paid? ; OO!!

But yeah! The first time I charted out the stars and looked at the constellations, I truly understood what it was like to navigate the stars. I had NOO IDEA how people did it back then, navigating the ocean just by the stars. But it’s there- if u map out the constellations and know which direction is, you know where u are. ;DDDD!! ❤️❤️

I think one big reason why we don't consider the stars as important as before (not even pop-astrology anymore cares about the stars or the sky on itself, just the signs deprived of context) is because of light pollution.

For most of human history the sky looked between 1-3, 4 at most. And then all of a sudden with electrification it was gone (I'm lucky if I get 6 in my small city). The first time I saw the Milky Way fully as a kid was a spiritual experience, I was almost scared on how BRIGHT it was, it felt like someone was looking back at me. You don't get that at all with modern light pollution.

When most people talk about stargazing nowadays they think about watching about a couple of bright dots. The stars are really, really not like that. The unpolluted night sky is a festival of fireworks. There is nothing like it.

i was thinking about what the tooniverse characters would do as part time or volunteer jobs or just their jobs in general and it really resonates with me that blu would probably become a piano teacher. i mean they absolutely love piano even after the luxury incident and they are genuinely kind when they’re not. you know. tormenting ruth they’d teach piano to the kids living around lane parade

VoicesThatCarry wanted an angel Crowley for their birthday and I immediately wanted to see him in his element creating stars, but also enjoying himself, maybe bending the fabric of space to have a little r&r. I hope you love him as much as I loved drawing him like this.

Also, when I draw things against a dark background like this I often fill the linework with a light color to see how it looks against it and when I did that to the sketch, I was struck by how much it looked like one of those constellations they project on the ceiling in the planetarium. So I hope you don’t mind- since it’s my birthday week too I decided to do a double treat, and show that version. You can see in it even better how he’s sitting on a hammock of stars. ❤️
