A/N: Heya lovelyyy!! Thank you so much for the ask, I switched it up a tiny bit but I hope you like it ehhehe.

Warnings: everyone here is an idiot istg, a touch of angst, them not being able to say what they need to say, seriously; they have three people in their head and they’re that dumb? AHAHAH, light allusions to smut.

Buying things was something that plagued you like a weird disease that never went away. You didn’t have this type of luxury when you were younger, your mother always forced you to save whatever money you made and scared you into thinking that you would not have a single cent on you when you truly needed it. Funnily enough, when you started earning your own money, you gave in and started to spend on things that your mother would frown upon.

You stared up at the shelf of books before you, sighing frustratedly as you gazed at the beautiful new covers. You cursed yourself for walking into the new luxury bookstore that opened in the mall, your mother’s voice echoing loudly in your head. You screwed your eyes tightly and tried to imagine something that would pull you away from both the thought of buying the book and the sound of your mother’s grating voice.

You were laying down on the couch, your body aching deliciously from the weight of something covering you. Your hands were preoccupied, carding through soft curls as large hands squeezed your sides. You were smiling down at the person who was cuddling you close and the person looked up at you, big brown, doe like eyes meeting yours.

“You know I have those books in my flat?�� a voice pulled you out of your little daydream making you gasp as you whirled around and your eyes met the same brown eyes you were imagining.

Steven Grant was smiling at you, his lopsided grin matching his curls that flopped to his forehead. Steven always looked comfortable and you always had the inevitable urge to squeeze him. Oh, how you yearned to press your nose into his chest as you hugged him close. You faked a scowl and Steven’s grin got wider as his hand shot out and gripped your wrist.

“If you behave, I’ll let you borrow them someday.” his voice twisted your insides as he pulled you away from the shelf.

Your heart swooned whenever you were around Steven. He and the other two were your poison tree, the bunch you had intended to stay far away from but couldn’t get enough of. He gently pulled your book bag off your shoulder and slung it on his own as the both of you walked to the cafe that the both of you hung out at on a weekly basis. You’d mark your student’s exercise books while Steven did his research on the ancient artifact he was writing about.

At times, you’d feel his eyes on you and you knew it wasn’t exactly Steven looking at you anymore

“Hi, Marc.” you said, without looking up from what you were marking.

“I still don’t get how you do that.” The deep Chicago accent makes you shiver slightly.

“Your posture changes, dummy.” you said, earning a chuckle from him.

“How are the kids doing this week?” he asked, leaning forward to take a look at what you were marking.

“Pretty good actually, their grammar is getting better and I think they enjoy my classes.”

“I’m sure they do, princesa.” came the beautiful spanish drawl.

“Now, what did I say about switching mid conversation.”

A long pause greeted you and you finally looked up from the book you were marking to see Jake staring at you with a satisfied smile.

“That it’s rude?”

“Mhmm.”

“I made you look though.” he winked at you and your insides turned into pure mush.

Outside, you rolled your eyes and casted your eyes back down onto the exercise book, holding back a grin of your own.

“So, how is Mr. Daniels?”

Your eyebrows furrowed and you looked back at Marc who was now leaning back in his chair, his arms crossed in front of him. You didn’t get why he would always ask you about the math teacher, you only called Mr. Daniels cute once in your life.

“He’s good, I guess.” you took a sip of your coffee and bowed your head, not letting Marc see what was clearly written all over your face.

For months, you have been trying to get rid of the feelings you felt for the three men. They were absolutely beautiful and had personalities that fired up your very being, but an unfortunate incident stood between you and them.

Flashback

You and him were a little too close, you could see all of the little details of his face. You and him had demolished a bag of doritos and the empty wine glasses made the both of you giggle incredulously. You didn’t know who you were looking at, the alcohol muddling your brain as your eyes zeroed on the doritos dust at the side of his mouth.

“You know I was thinking of asking Dylan out, the tour guide at the museum.” Steven’s voice burned a hole through your heart and you smiled, hiding the pain that coursed through you.

“You should.” you whispered, trying your hardest not to let your heart betray you.

“Jake suggested for me to take her out to that steak shop.” he leaned back into the sofa and stared up at the ceiling.

“And what are you gonna eat there, silly.” you stifled a giggle.

“I dunno, bread, salad?”

You tried to laugh the best you could despite the achy feeling at the pit of your stomach.

End of flashback

“How’s Dylan?” you asked.

“She’s alright.” Steven said softly.

“Hmm.”

Your eyes caught a couple behind Steven and you smiled gently as one of them kissed the other one’s knuckles.

Jake noticed and turned around too, turning back to you with a grin and plucking the red pen out of your hand before suddenly taking your hand in his. Your heart blazed when you felt his lips on your knuckles and your breathing stopped for a second, his eyes shining with mischief. You quickly snatched your hand away from him and you could note the change in the way his eyebrows furrowed slightly.

“Hey, you know I was just joking, it didn’t mean anything.” he said quickly.

It didn’t mean anything.

“Yea, I know, Jake , you don’t like me like that.” you said before you could stop yourself.

Jake’s thoughts raced as Marc and Steven panicked inside his head. They weren’t supposed to like you like that but they do and they wanted to stand on top of the table that you both were at and scream that fact at the top of their lungs.

You couldn’t mark anything anymore, with the way he kept reminding you of your failed love life. Your failed, unrequited love for them. You snatched the pen back from him and tapped the book in front of you, thinking of your next move. You quickly grab your phone and text one of your friends, Sam. Code red, the code you always used to get out of situations you didn’t like and you were feeling really uncomfortable with the energy you had created.

A few minutes later, to your pure relief, your friend called you.

“Oh, umm, I have to go, Sam is stuck in a … situation.” you say as you frantically shove your stuff into your bag.

“Right, let me help you with that.” Steven said, standing up, a worried look on his face.

“It's okay, I got it.” you gave him a reassuring smile and tucked a five pound bill under the coffee.

“I’ll see you.”

“Yeah.” Steven rubbed the back of his neck, wondering if he had said anything out of the way, his heart pounding as he watched you walk out of the cafe.

You woke up hours later to a knock at your door. Your face was wet and you checked your phone for any messages, absolutely shocked to see about 14 missed calls from the boys, another five from your best friend and dozens of messages. You flung yourself out of bed and ran to the front door

You opened it to see a frantic Jake standing outside, his hair a mess. Without a word, he wrapped his arms around you and hugged you close, mumbling something into your hair in spanish.

“Shit, I thought something happened when you didn’t answer your calls. I called Sam and she couldn’t get a hold of you.” Jake’s voice was bubbling with tears and you looked up at him in shock.

“Jake, I-” suddenly, his lips were on yours and you felt yourself being lifted off your feet.

The kiss was as frantic as he looked and you became putty in his arms as you tried your best to steady yourself. You pulled away and stared at the man in front of you, only to see Steven’s eyes staring back. Your hands came up to touch your lips and you couldn’t help but touch his lips too.

“Sorry, fuck, I know you’re with-” you cut him off with another kiss and you felt all of your worries wash over you.

Your hands grip his face and you hold onto him until the both of you are out of air.

“Fuck, what about Dy-” you pulled away and started to say, but Marc pushed you against the wall and caught your lips with his again, wordlessly asking you to jump as he gripped your hips hard.

You jumped and wrapped your legs around his torso, your bodies sandwiched together. Your hands carded up his curls and you pulled on them for purchase, causing him to groan against your lips.

“Wait, Marc, Jake, Steven, what’s happening.” you pull away, your confusion creeping up the satisfied feeling that you were feeling.

You couldn’t tell who had control of the body as they pushed their forehead against yours, just holding you against the wall.

“I don’t know,” you heard Steven’s voice whisper as he ducked his head lower.

Your hands were still in his hair and you pulled him closer.

“Put me down.” you whispered after a while and unlocked your ankles.

Their eyes were casted downward as they tried their best to not look at you. You pulled them to your dining table and busied yourself with making a cup of tea, chewing at your swollen bottom lip, wondering what had just happened. You wanted to feel it again so bad, the passion they pushed upon you was so fiery that you wanted nothing more but to have it course through your veins again. You sighed as you pushed the cup of tea in front of them.

“Whoever is fronting, could you please just explain what happened?” you calmly asked.

When their eyes met with your’s, you could clearly see Marc’s sadness and it crushed your heart.

“We’re sorry we springed on you like that.” he whispered. “The truth is, I- we are in love with you.'' The last bit of his sentence came out like it was a harsh secret, clawing its way out of his voice box.

You let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding.

“Fuck.” was all you could say as you swallowed down your own tears.

“But we know that you don’t feel like that for us, so you-” he continued.

“Wait, who said that?” you cut him off, your heart thudding in your chest.

“You did.” Steven mumbled. “Just now, we only said that we didn’t like you like that because you made it clear how you felt about us.”

“But- but I only did that because you have feelings for someone else! You know? The woman you are dating!”

“We only said that because you said you found the math teacher at your school cute!” Marc slammed his hand down, making you jump. “We’re not dating Dylan!”

“I was joking, you dumbass! Oh my fucking god!” you slammed your hands down and stood up, pushing Marc’s chair back and straddling him without another word.

You kissed him like you meant it, putting your soul out there so that it would meet theirs. All the anger you felt was channeled back into the kiss and you wanted them to choke on their own passion with the way you pressed yourself against them. Marc sighed against your lips and melted away, letting the body switch frantically between Steven, himself and Jake. When you finally felt satisfied you pulled away and gave them a small smile.

“You boys love me huh?” you brushed their fringe away from their face and looked into the eyes that held the only three that you would hand your heart to. “Well, I love you too, cowards.”

“Hey, watch who you’re calling a coward.” Steven’s hands gripped hard at your hips as he grinned up at you, leaning in and kissing you softly.

After a while he brought his lips next to your ear, he whispers “This coward won’t let you borrow his books until he makes you forget your own name.”

Your eyes widened and you shook your head, wondering what awaited at the top of the poison tree you managed to climb up on.

Alright doing my review of the chapter while I play it, today its HI3 Part 2 Chapter 7.

Spoiler free opinion now that I've cleared the chapter: Literally that horse getting drawn worse meme, except its absolute peak until the very last moment.

And already this looks interesting

I like that they put effort into showing Helia pinning Coralie to the wall, but in the same breath I have to ask why they didn't use the 3d models they were already using to show Coralie turning the tables on Helia.

I have no idea what is going on. Calamities? Is this bubble world Helia? I dont want to believe that Hoyo started an event right after part 1.5, then skipped a few years ahead to part 2, and only mentioned the Calamities happening on Earth in chapter 7. I dont want to believe that, but also I dont know how this bubble world Helia plays into the story.

WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAIT a moment. The burning of Helia's blood wasnt metaphorical? Seeing visions? Saying she'll give up her flesh and sense of pain to get vengance? I'm not sure what is happening yet, but I feel like this is already the best written chapter of part 2. So far the opening is extremely interesting.

There's something about strength and giving up something else to gain it going on here.

Okay okay, Vita being kinda antagonistic finally. Also it would've been fun if Helia actually pulled the trigger but Vita managed to tilt her head out of the way. She took all of Sa's power, having hyper fast reflexes wouldn't be out of my book.

Oh and also, once again, "Helia, look at yourself.", First the mirror, then Dudu, then Theresa. That's 3 times now. Something's going on here.

Kinda extremely short dip into the sim but otherwise the writing of this chapter is VERY solid.

Im not a fan of flashbacks since I'd rather just experience them instead of timeskipping over them and then flashing back to them, but whatever's going on with Helia is interesting and if I have to speak to past Coralie to continue whatever arc Helia is on atm I'm all for it

I dont want to say it but to not disappoint myself but...

could Helia be having a Herrscher awakening?

(or equivelant, you know)

This is so freaking cool. If this actually is a Herrscher awakening or something similar, this is the best one they've done. Period. If it isn't, then this is fucking amazing for Helia as a character.

I DID NOT REALISE SHE WAS HOLDING A KNIFE UNTIL HER HAND BEGAN TREMBLING

And back to wierdo flashback bubble world but actually not? You can not be telling me that Earth is facing these Calamities after Honkai Eruptions and before the Sky People. Everyone is so chill both currently on the Moon but also in APHO, but Helia has these memories of her and Coralie going to the battlefield to fight off these "Calamities" and there's basically no truly safe places on Earth any more. This is so fucking wierd if this isnt a bubble world. 1. Because it wasnt mentioned before this point. 2. Because they've already confirmed APHO is canon.

For as negative as I sound about it, I actually dig the Calamity stuff. I just still cant tell if its actually happening or not. And I still dont like that we're learning about it in freaking flashbacks. This sounds like the stuff you would start Part 2 on. Something like "we follow a new squad as they train to fight off a new threat after the End of Honkai". Calling them Calamity Pollutants to differentiate them from Honkai beasts makes sense.

And if this is a bubble world, why the fuck are we flashingback to it??

Okay I know this might be hard to believe, but I just wrote a scene like Helia and Nessa like, 2 days ago. Holy shit.

Oh my god why couldn't they have portrayed the Honkai like this???

Okay this HAS to be a bubble world, right? No fucking way they just skip over and dont mention an event like the Eight Calamity that made battlesuits unusable. BUT THEN ASJDI POHas dwhy am I seeing this then?? I dont hate the writing - I hate that I dont know how this connects.

Is the "She" Serapeum mentioned Leylah? I feel like the simulation plotline is finally getting interesting.

Oh wait that was the first mention of Senadina in like, 3 chapters? 4?

Oh also missed it, but DAMN Hoyo is actually using 3D models for 3D stuff! fucking FINALLY. There's been a lot of that this chapter and just honestly great. Took them long enough to learn that 3D gacha stories requires more efforts than just making cutouts or 2D images.

Im so happy I am recording myself playing because I can go back and pause, something we fucking lost for some reason like oh my fucking god Hoyo please bring back replayability.

Back to my point, that was either Leylah or Helia's hooded friend behind Smolrandal.

Back to Helia now.

Fire, power, burning self away, looking at herself. Those get repeated over and over for Helia. Something's definitely up.

Also I wish enemies still moved while aiming. I can move around. Cmon. Would actually make aiming at all of them feel impressive instead of "and now I wait for 2 seconds"

I kinda really really really really really really want to see Helia snap. Like I REALLY want to see it. If she does - best chapter in a LONG time. If she doesnt - what the actual shit is Hoyo writing.

Completely unrealated to the chapter, but I am getting better at listening to Japanese speech. Like, I can tell when a sentence ends and begins. Because the voice acting is really good this chapter, I've caught myself several times going "its not over yet, they havent said the last part of the text yet" this chapter.

I can also point out specific words here and there. Feels good. Anyways, back to the chapter coz

Oh my god Helia is sacrificing her heart

Is the hooded figure Helia? Like, is she actually just Helia? She speaks of wandering snowy fields like the area the "bubble world" and Calamity stuff happened in. She speaks as if "Helia can't save Coralie" is something that has happened over and over and over and over and over again.

YUP, Hooded friend is Helia from another world! What the fuuuuuuuuu

HOLY FUCKING SHIT. You know, I thought of keeping Coralie heavily injured but alive in my Snippets AU.

No shot.

Nope.

No way.

I would be doing Helia such a huge disservice.

Oh my god. "Oh, right... Aria, whose life or death is uncertain." GIRL YOU SHOT HER TO MAKE HER YOUR BAIT SO YOU COULD GET TO CORALIE IN TIME. I was fully expecting it to go into a fast paced competition of who can clear the most monsters with the voice saying how Helia is weak and wasting time.

And then Helia pulled out the fucking gun.

I didn't even pull the trigger, the game did that for me!

Wait Smolrandal and Entropy got teleported to the middle of the tower then.

Is Senadina Leylah and Entropy? The Day's are dressed similarly to Leylah.

Also I still want to see Helia snap and burn the tower to the ground.

"Make a puzzle and dont put markers to exactly guide the player to the solution challenge (impossible)" -Hoyo.

Immortality is a lie! Coralie cant be saved! Is this where Helia snaps? Its coming, it has to, the entire chapter is building up to it excellently.

Did the writing team slip their pen at the end? That plottwist literally made me go "heh?"

That wasnt even a good twist! What the fuck was that? What? Huh? Excuse me?

What was that twist?

It literally makes no sense.

Its on the level of "Vita pulls off her suit and it was actually Kiana all the time!" twist. That'd make no sense! And neither does this twist! What the fuck???

Unless this is just a red herring and "killing Helia" is just her way of sacrificing the last of her humanity. In which case this cliffhanger is still awful because HEH?

i keep seeing so many cool prompts on the kink meme but i've never written fanfic before, do you have any ideas where to start??

so you wanna start writing fanfic and you dont know how to start or what to do. I hope this is somehow helpful at least a little bit

Write for yourself: Pick a prompt/two characters or even one character and write what you would want to read. Make an oc, create that rarepair! I personally started talking about wrestlers with my sibling and focused specifically on one or two and just hyperfocused on them, personally I found making headcanons were easier and building upon that as writing. Make the things you would personally like to read

Dont be a perfectionist: perfectionism is a brain killer and a creativity killer. Youre learning a new skill, you will not be perfect straight away, get a beta reader [someone to look over your work to point out typos, words that would be better ect] spell check and edit but dont start overthinking everything because it can put so much stress on you. Remember this is a hobby, not a career, it doesnt need to meet some imaginary wordcount or page number or whatever else, theres no rules to fanfiction. You dont need to write 20k words your first time, even if its a drabble of 100 words it is needed and wanted in the fandom. There is no such thing as bad writing

Practise: i try to write everyday, even if its just 100 or 50 words, thats enough. You dont have too if its too hard. like previously said its a skill youre learning and it takes time to feel comfortable doing it and you get better while writing and pracising. even if its a line of dialogue or a sentence. However take breaks, dont force yourself to publish a chapter or a oneshot daily otherwise youre going to burn out and thats no good for anybody

Dont use ai: self explanatory but generative AI will kill you creativity and excitement for writing. it also steals from other fanfic writers and its in general not writing. It will not help with beta reading or spelling or nothing like that, stay away from character ai and other stuff as well as chat gpt

write the way you want: if you wanna write in lower case, do it. if you want to use a script format do it! however certain people enjoy things differently.

read: Keep reading, other fanfics, other books you enjoy, research pages. reading helps with writing. leave comments cuz thats just the nice thing to do and then youll have more fanfic to read!

dont compare yourself to others: each author has a different writing voice, you will find your own the more you write. Some people fall into writing easily others work a little harder and thats completely fine, youre making a form of art, not a product, fanfic isnt content. like how artists have different art styles, we all have different writing things

use prompts: either using a genator that you enjoy [if you wanna write smut- a kink generator, theres whump geneartors, fluff prompts] or use tumblr or pinterest

requests: the way I start writing for aew is taking prompt requests for ships. My first one was a hookhausen one and I still love the ship and fics to death so open requests for drabbles [100 or so words]

research: never go into a topic blind, dont know a kink google it or ask a friend, not sure if diaglogue sounds like a character, find clips

Im sure theres others but thats just, how I started writing and always remember what youre writing theres always gonna be one person who likes what youre writing, you can do this anon! i believe in you and I look forward to watching you flower and flourish in your writing journey

randomised trope/tag grading game

clearly today is a day of doing memes (i posted a list of 9 favourite books earlier today). i know it's a tuesday and normal people are at work, but i'm writing some posts, hello!

Rules: Generate your own personal list of 10 AO3 tags to rate. How much do these tags affect your decision to click on a fic? -10 -> very dissuaded 0 - don’t care either way +10 -> very enticed nope -> if it’s a hard no and you’d never click on a fic with that tag or or you even have the tag blocked or you’d insta click out of the fic if it wasn’t tagged Bonus points for explaining the rating and whether it’s conditional.

i was tagged in a very similar post by @bookish-bogwitch a few weeks ago. at the time i read her post, i felt like our opinions were so aligned that there wasn't a good reason for me to write my own post. (well done, great opinions!) the only exception really is that if a snowbaz fic was tagged age gap i might choose to read it - less because the trope is for me, and more because that's kind of weird for snowbaz. so, maybe it would be interesting! and i guess i feel pretty meh about H/C, sorry folks.

anyway - i decided to tweak the meme into the form that you see in this post. here's my 10 random things and what i think about them👇

Amusement Parks: -2

harsh judgement right out of the gate. i've read some good ones but i feel like generally a fic about an amusement park is likely to be some quite gentle fluff, maybe a modern AU, and that's not my favourite.

Unconventional Families: 0

maybe all slash fics that are kidfics are unconventional families? if so - i actually quite like kidfic, a not that secret shame, but i sort of like it less if the fact that they're gay parents is now worth flagging because it makes life difficult - since i am a gay parent. and i dont want to read about how it will be hard. so it averages out to a 0. if the family is more unconventional.... who knows? i would neither click nor not click.

Rough Sex: 8

how sad for me that this is my first clear yes and highest rated. i probably would click unless other tags or the summary put me off.

Public Transportation: 3

i went with a yes here, as i'm intrigued. it's oddly specific and suggests an interest in the specifics, and i am a fan of public transport. i've read some nice fics where snowbaz meet on trains (yes, often modern AU, but i dont dislike them all), like the classic 15-across by @ninemagicks and the equally classic remix 2-Down (A 15-Across remix) by @carryonvisinata (who also wrote a theme park story i like, so the -2 is definitely feeling mean. ah well, press on.) Bickering: 7

i mean - i prefer banter, but i assume if someone has written bickering they kind of mean banter. unless it's like sibling bickering and then maybe not.

Phone Calls & Telephones: 0

this is almost text fic (which i like less than most people like it) but not. i often write in a phonecall, it's part of what i think of as the friendship to lovers arc...... idk. i'm also going to add here that i keep thinking about plots that rely on people not being able to call each other, which is kind of the opposite. or you have to get to a pay phone - i dont know that i would want to read a fic like that, but there are some fun movies and books that you'd have to rework now. most recently i was watching madonna in 'desperately seeking susan'.

Redeemed (character): 7

this really depends on who they are, obviously. i can imagine it being really annoying if they never show any redeemability, but i've given it a strong 7 because i come from a world of redeeming the master from doctor who over and over again, so it would feel silly not to have it as a yes. and i kind of want to redeem the mage....... but it would be weird if he just was redeemed in a fic, and so too the master. it would have to be kind of about it.

Quests: 7

yes. not a 10/10 insta-click , because i can imagine it going on a bit too long if it was a fic about a quest rather than, say, two people realising they loved each other, but i would like it to be in the background. snowbaz has some good quest fics. Song of Sirens (rated E) by @scone-lover is such a fic or A Gift From the Propheseals (rated M) by @skeedelvee and @letraspal another.

this feels mean, i have 3 cats myself - i like cats to be in a fic because cats are nice, but i also dont have many feelings about animal transformation and if snowbaz adopt a cat in the future... that's fine by me, i hope they do, but i probably don't want to read about it for more than a few lines.

do you know any theories about the actual age of the nine houses or something like that? because I have a feeling in 10000 years a lot more stuff would've happened technologically or culturally. and even if John slowed progress down in the nine houses somehow, the other planets also still have a very earthlike society, sure they forgot the original meaning of Eminem lyrics, but tenthousand years ago people invented sedentary lifestyle, we dont even know half the literature written 2000 years ago (the protagonists of GtN are also able to read everything they come across in Canaan house). I could imagine John just lied to the nine houses maybe/probably even to the Lyctors, maybe implanted them memories of an additional 8000 years, I cant remember if the Lyctors give any numbers as to how long they know John. What I'm pretty sure of though is that BoE never talks about how long they or the Empire existed.

It could also be that Tamsyn Muir just glossed over this, chose a random number (the same age the Empire in Dune is said to be), sure we notice a lot of connections and references, but sometimes I feel like some aspects of the worldbuilding she wasnt as meticulous with. But maybe it would connect nicely to some other theories or fannons, so I figured I'd share.

ok this is FASCINATING and something that I have considered, but I can't believe it without finding a potential motive for why he would do it? i just don't know why he would want to do that. (and also, I think BOE would 1000% include it as an anti-House propaganda talking point, and they don't) BUT he has shown he can alter memories... so........ it could be!!

my honest thoughts about the time span tho is i think this is a Rule Of Cool thing. if it was JUST the 9 houses, and we didn't know anything about BOE/outside of system stuff, i could believe TM is going for something like "John froze the Houses as culturally static for reasons as yet to be revealed". this could make sense because we already know John can freeze people and objects and thanergetic decay, so why not culture as well? among other things, this can make the system easier to govern and make sure his memes stay at least partyway #relatable

the only problem with that, and why I don't think that's what is going on, is exactly what you said: BOE still remembers Eminem lyrics. They have technology that is, even if it is made from different materials, at least recognizable to the 9th houses and their people do not seem to be like, visually distinguishable from the 9 houses. They appear to wear relatively similar clothing even! BOE is outside his domain, which means the universe TLT is in is just Like That.

Same for how like, there is no WAY that after 10k years, the different PLANETS of the 9 houses would still have a common language and cultural overlap enough to like. easily connect and laugh at each others jokes, etc. like take the cultural difference between the AUS and USA interpretations of the word "fanny" and then multiply it exponentially.

i do not think this is a problem however. 10,000 is a cool number, and "myriad" is so much swankier than "millennia", and I think that writing a speculative sci fi book about 10k years from now is not what TM set out to do. i think it's all a fancy set piece & drapery for the core, emotional and character story she is trying to tell

to answer your question of where i came from i was in fact delivered to this world in a very small little basket with pink bows on it and an atomic bomb in my hands. and i found out about raikov because my beloved showed me mgs2 and he loves raiden ( me too ) and raikov is obviously linked on his page and something about him just made me keep coming back. maybe because i am also blonde haired blue eyed love eating whiny mean and annoying. but something about him i just needed to write. i love love love taking neglected characters and doing a 2000s makeover to make them into an actual Character and he was a perfect candidate !

AS of posting, I'm on my way to the airport and going to be traveling to wasteland weekend, and while my posting's already been a little erratic in the last few days its about to do that again lol. Jolt mostly manages money in the group, and all together they do pretty well.

Jolt is muscular, but he tends to over do it with training and fighting, occasionally skipping meals, definitly fit though. there isn't much of a caste system within the story, you've either got someplace to stay or you dont.

Jolt, like the rest of them, hasnt had a "proper formal education", but he's the most well written of the group, able to read and write in both spanish and english, as well as being fluent in both. His mathmatical skills are enough to get by with, simple maths. He's also read a lot of history books in his free time, so he knows a suprising amount of US history, not that most of it matters anymore.

Most of the time, the crimes he's commited have been done in places where it doesnt really matter- around other raiders, killing people in arena style fights, ect. He's not got the stickiest hands, but he's swiped a few things in his life. Over all, he's intimidating and skilled enough to swipe stuff without gettign caught.)

His mother wanted to make sure her kids were intelligent and capable, and enjoyed passing on information from her life, and her family, history, to them. His siblings and him were also quite close, often depeneding on him when his mother passed away.

Jolt's mother died when he was around 14-15, and his father passed away a few weeks before he turned 19, after which he left his siblings. Over time he eventually found himself tangled with a few people and groups but never really found a home until he was tangled with Bux, Keres, and Rikki. The four of them make up a somewhat weird but very close family.)

There a few things he forgets how to spell, and occasionally forgets words in english/spanish, but nothing outside the normal relm of someone who's bilingul. He's decently literate though, and enjoys reading and writting.

Jolt paints fequently and paints things like aniamls and plants to catolauge them, writing down information as he learns about them, either for saftey, hunting, or foraging, sometimes even receipes. He's not super skilled at it, and struggles to draw people, but it's still a hobby of his.

He's skilled with things like cooking, construction, and he's pretty good at taking care of weapons/ maintaining them. he's not great with machinery, things like cars and what not, he is decent at wiring though, and can hot wire cars in case of emergency. )

He's got pretty hardcore psycho addiction. while using he's either highly aggressive and manic, but often is subject to bad trips becoming emotional and mostly inconsolable. He also uses day tripper and marijuana, but less recreational and more medicinal, using them to manage his psycho addiction and mental health issues.

stimpacks, med x, rad away, rad x for all of them, jolt also uses buffout but like a pre-workout/training situation, often only taking half a dose. He also uses Calmex but as directed.

Jolt dies most of the cooking, cooking a lot of mexican and native dishes (or as close as he can get) so mostly things fluctiate from extremely healthy to very deep fried. He really enjoys spicy food more then sweet food, and his favorite foods are often served over rice, or fried. Some of his favorites are Pemmican (my mom made this a lot as a kid and its like a larabar with meat. highly reccomend), Tamales, and menudo (personally, i hate tripe, it makes me want to crawl in a hole and die, but my mom loves and says its very good for you.)

He's pretty stingy with money, budgeting everything, drugs, drinks, cigarettes, food, everything is included. Every so often he'll splurge on new spices or food, paint suplies, or on something as a surprise for Keres (which is usually new herbs or candles.) He also enjoys buying and trying unique cuts of food or veggies or meats he's never tried before.

as for gambling:

gambled once, and vowed to never do it again. He does do betted fights, but he's rarely lost a fight, picking his opponents carefully.)

KERES (im switchin up the placement bite my ass i dont care) ✧˖°. Surprisingly, Keres isnt really into the whole stealing things thing, and will pretty much only use violence as a means to protect themselves or their friends.)

They chose to leave after taking in Rikki, seeing that their family wasnt really capable of feeding more people. Keres has five other siblings, none of which they're particularly close with. Over all like the rest of the group, its mostly a found family type situation.)

Other wise, they are literate. they also know some spanish, not enough to be considered fluent, but enough to hold private conversations with Jolt right in fron to rikki and Bux.

Keres isnt the most technically skilled, they can sew decently well, can crochet and knit at alarming speed for someone with little to no vision, and again, despite being blind, makes a decent medic.)

Most medicinal medicines keres uses are once they've made themselves, and are usually tinctures, teas or topical ointments. Keres loves anything Jolt cooks, being unable to cook themselves, rikki being unable to handle spices very well and Bux incinerating everything he "cooks". His style of cooking is nearly identical to their families' and Jolt's curiosity for trying new receipies is exciting to keres, as it mean flavor and textural variety. They enjoy savory and bitter foods, and also fermented dishes. Keres doesn't really have any particularly favorite dishes, but anything with seafood, jerky, or fried is likely to be enjoyed. All that being said, they won't eat anythign pre-war. Probably for the best.

Keres is not allowed to buy things. They will spend all their money on candles or yarn.

Keres has never had in interest in gambling, but is inexplicably good at dominoes.)

He was in school for a bit before his parents divorced, he father then pulling him out of school to work on the farm. Bux has probably the stickiest fingers of the group, he could steal an entire cart of stuff and not only would you not see him do it, youd have no idea where any of it went. )

He's got a complex relationship with most family members. He doesnt resent his mother, but he's upset with her for not taking him with her when she and walter divorced. Then she married Perry. Perry's great, super nice, and seems like he actually enjoy's Bux's enjoyment of machines and tattoos. But he still had two kids with his mom and didnt think to invite him over even once.

His two sisters adore him, having an older brother who got in trouble for sneeking out and hanging out with a bunch of raiders seems cool to them. He however, does not want to spend time with them. He doesnt hate them, but he feels a twang of envy and sometimes guilt everytime he sees them.)

Bux can read, just not well or quickly; on top of needing to focus to read, he has no ability to focus, so he often seems illierate, but he's just a little stupid. He (and Rikki) only speak english, so hearing jolt constant swearing in spanish, or jolt and keres talking "serect older adult stuff" right in front of them is frustrating. Rikki's tried to pick up spanish, but picking it up from two affulent people (who aren't trying to teaching you) is harder then it looks (sounds?); Bux on the other hand, has chosen to ignore it.

Jolt is normally the one considered the artist of the group, and sure, when it comes to drawing plants and animals, he's better than Bux, but when drawing people Bux is usually better. Bux likes making more abstract desgins, anyways. He's maybe not the best with paint and paper, but he can tattoo something else.

On a technically level (on all levels except physical) Bux is pretty impressive. with machines, anyways. He seems to speak to the hardware, and know where it goes. software is a little trickier for him, which isnt saying much cause you could probably hand him a peice of technology he's never seen or heard of and be able to fix it after about five minutes of inspecting. ✧˖°. He's so constantly high or drunk that the few times Jolt has seen him sober he's been genuinely worried. If he's able to come down from it all gracefully, he hits a major low pretty easily. Often mopey, quiet, avoidant, and typically irratable. If not, He's more likely to have a shakey, screaming meltdown. Keres and Rikki cant handle the meltdowns, and Jolt is freaked out by the mellow (even if his highs can be annoying) so the group does not prevent him from indulging in his habits. He'll pretty much drink whatever, smoke whatever, but in general, Jet is his drug of choice. Jet, weed, and maybe a little calmex (generously spared by Jolt at the request of Keres when they travel.) other than the occaisonally calmex, he's taking mostly uppers.

Bux enjoys a good bit of Jolt's cooking, but he's not a fan of the more 'explorative' dishes, and isn't quite accustomed to other culture's foods, so he can be rather picky. He however, will devour anything prewar, very happily. His favorite are the yum yum deviled eggs. Jolt has attempted to make him fresh, homemade, non irradiated, likely moldy, and properly seasoned deviled eggs, but Bux still prefers the stuff out of the box. He does think Jolt's pork n' beans is better, though.

While not quite as bad as Keres, Bux is also not allowed to spend his own money. He gets an allowance though. He enjoys gambling, too, so that adds on to the "List of Reasons Why." posted on the fridge by Jolt. He mostly spends on drugs or food, but will also spend on tattoo and pericing supplies, or bust it all gambling. He likes dice games, and betting games. He's not great at it. )

(fun fact about the various drugs of fallout; they're inspired by real world drugs/medications, and when writing stories you can apply the real world affects and repercussions :D I've seen a few different interpretations, but here are mine personally (having worked in (and currently working for) various biomedical pharmaceutical distributions or management companies, and while not being a doctor, I know more than the average person about these drugs. (I've mostly included the ones that are important story wise.) Psycho: Methamphetamine Jet: Jenkem (I've seen some people say its an amphetamine, and i think the effects of jet are pretty similar canonically, but it's definetly jekem.) Med-x: Morphine Buffout: roids. Calmex: Ketamine. Daddy-o: Xanax or adderall. (Or something similar.) Day Tripper: LSD or shrooms but bottled for your conveinence. (some people say that day tripper is weed, going off the effects it could be, but i'd rather just have my characters smoking weed. )

OTPs I have a lot. Tsengru is the top one and always will be. Love those two so much.

I do love Rufus/Reno and Tseng/Rude as well though. Very cute dynamics for both of those, and Tseng/Rude also has some softer stuff to them that when I started to write them I didn't expect! Definitely one of my favourite and hands down would write it with someone again in a heartbeat. Im a Shinra fucker through and through.

Friendship wise I LOVE Aerith and Tseng. Just a sibling relationship with Tseng being like a big brother in a way, since he's watching over Aerith so much growing up. Its so fuckin cute and also has a lot of angst potential which is also good.

C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.

I've never been a big Vincent/Lucrecia fan, and never will be. Both of their characters are well written; despite my own biases against Lucrecia, I can see the appeal of it. But they wouldn't mesh well together, with all their issues I don't think. From what I can see between them, it wouldn't be a good pairing from either side.

H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?

I dont have one? I like all of them. Books I can flip to what I need to find after Ive read it, and I can jot things down about small paragraphs people might not have seen. I can watch clips and parts of movies on loop (I did this to try and see Tsengs ID number in Advent Children that scene is burned into my BRAIN). So I'll go with whatever medium I vibe with, if that makes sense?

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

If it's ones I've written development for? Tseng. Hands down my favourite muse with his development. He has a LOT to him and I adore his character in canon just as much.

Overall, I give it to Kuja. Favourite FF villian when I was growing up, and favourite now. Love the drama king.

I'm also considering doing it with Nessian as they have not the trauma Gwyn holds , but smut is something quite new to me to write so I'm hesitant

I saw my friend's tag, let me say first that I'm not active in the ACOTAR fandom but I read some fanfics sometimes and @fimproda aks my opinion about her fics (if you’re interested, I write about Gabriel/Cecily and Grace/Christopher from Shadowhunters).

Firstly, I'd say to understand the personality of the characters and how you see them: for obvious reasons, Gwynriel won't jump into bed the same way Nessian would because of their respective traumas, so you have to create a situation that will lead them to have sex but that makes sense.

Secondly, like my friend I'm not a fan of smut that it's just the mecchanical description of an intercourse, and I would tell you to give a lot of importance to the emotional part of the smut: focus on how the characters feel, not just the physical sensation, but for example for Gwynriel you could focus on the fact that despite her trauma, Gwyn trusts Azriel not to hurt her.

For me the emotional side is even more important than the act itself, and apparently many readers agree too: in one of the latest fics I posted, people really apprecieted the fact that during the act the characters kept telling each other "I love you".

As for writing the smut itself, I'd just say to read a lot of books and fanfics. You will understand what you like reading, what gives you the icks, and how you will want to portray the smut scenes yourself.

On a last note, you don’t necessarily have to take inspiration from your life: there’s a reason why the meme that the best Ao3 smut is written by ace people exists!

okay, i’m finally getting around to writing this, and uhh ill say its for aro week too. this is written as an aro person directed at alloromantic people. when i refer to writing, i’m kind of using it as a general term for creative works. Here’s me throwing my hat in on the question:

Can you ship aromantic characters?

and my answer is,,,,, actually a question. Why do you want to ship aromantic characters?

I want alloros to realize that for a lot of aros, we do not get to see ourselves represented often. I can actually count on like one hand how many popular canon aro characters there are, and on the whole, none of their identities are respected. people constantly try to weasel their way out of actually writing aro characters, or they just ignore or deny their identity outright. fandom spaces (hell creative spaces in general) are at best not welcoming to aros, and at worst actively hostile towards us. So when the first question brought up when a character gets canonically confirmed as aro is “okay cool but can i ship them???” or “that’s nice but how can i still write about my fave ship that involves them??” i want to fucking scream. its a slap to the face and it shows that people really do not give a shit about aros. you say stuff like that and all i hear is “my fictional ship is so much more important than representing your marginalized minority identity” so instead of me just sitting here and saying “yes you can totally ship aro characters, as long as you’re respectful!!!” i’m saying “can you stop and think why you want to shove an aro character into a romantic relationship at the first chance you get?? maybe you have some arophobia you haven’t worked on?? maybe since we live in an amatonormative world, you’re letting that influence your views??” because that question being the first thing out of your mouth when you see a character you like confirmed as aro? that’s already disrespectful towards aros in my book.

So back to my question, Why do you want to ship aromantic characters? is it because you can’t write characters without them being in romantic relationships? or because you think a character without a romantic relationship is boring? Because if so, that’s a bad reason and it sounds like amatonormativity is rotting your brain.

Is it because you just really like a ship with the aro character? Because you can write two characters with a strong relationship without writing them as a couple. A strong friendship can hold just as much power as a romantic relationship.

Is it because fuck aros, i will write what I wanna write and I don't wanna write this character with their canon identity? because then you’re just an arophobic asshole that needs to work on your shitty opinions. aro representation is just as important as any other lgbtqia+ representation.

Now if you’re reading this and thinking “well i heard aros can be in queerplatonic relationships!” I want you to think for a second. Are you writing a qpr or are you writing a romantic relationship with the serial numbers filed off? Have you talked to aro people or read stuff actually written by us? because, yes, some qprs can look a lot like a romantic relationship from the outside, but that’s just it, you’re looking at it from the outside. qprs are more than just “romantic relationship with extra steps”, and i think it’s really telling how many times i see alloromantic people saying they’re depicting an aro character in a qpr, not a romantic relationship, but then they never ever make any effort to distinguish the qpr from any other romantic relationship they write or draw. It just feels like qprs are getting used by alloros as a gatcha any time an aro person objects to how they depict (or don’t depict) aromanticism. if you want to write a character in a qpr then go for it! but you need to actually do research, talk to aros, get multiple opinions and not just take the first opinion that agrees with you and run with it.

“But what about headcanoning a character as arospec?” now i will say before i go into this, i am aro, not arospec, so if an arospec person wants to come in and correct me at any part here im happy to listen. but my problem when alloros bring up arospec identities is a very similar problem to how qprs are often depicted. I remember when Peridot Stevenuniverse got confirmed aro (she did, do not argue this with me) people were jumping over themselves to assure everyone that “a character getting confirmed as aro just means they are any arospec identity” which,, uhh,, not true? i mean if an arospec person wants to see a canon aro character as, say, aroflux, i’ve got no problem, aro and arospec people can do what they want really. but, i do have a problem with all the alloro fans who were spreading this. because, do you really see the character as demiromantic? or are you using that identity to deflect criticism from erasing aro identities? are you actually trying to write a good depiction of a demiro person? or are you just writing normal ship stuff and slapping a “uwu ive never felt romantic attraction until i met you! and now i will act exactly like any alloromantic person!” at the beginning? being in fandom spaces, i do see the occasional fic actually depicting an aspec identity (i say aspec her because aro is so rare that most of these examples i’ve seen have been acespec identities rather than arospec) but like 99% of the time, that’s written by someone who actually shares the identity. before you use our terms and identities to cover your ass when you erase us, consider not fucking doing that. consider listening to all aros and getting our thoughts and input.

And last here is “but what about romance positive aros?” now i think most of what i’ve said previously can be applied here. the only thing i wanna add is, i think its very interesting that almost every time i see non aros depict aros, they always write them as very into romance, very open to be in romantic relationships, and very quiet about their aro identity. despite the character in canon not showing any of these traits. romance positive aros are good and important, but not every aro is romance positive. there’s quite a few of us that are romance repulsed, and alloros only depicting aros as super romance positive no matter what is suspicious to say the least. if an aro character is shown to be open to participating in romantic activities in canon then of course write them that way. but if an aro character is shown to be uninterested in, or even actively against romantic activities then respect that too.

so, to wrap up my thoughts in this ramble: please ask yourself why you want to ship aro characters so bad, because if the only reason is that amatonormativity has brainwashed you into not being able to write, or draw, or do anything with a character without them being in a romantic relationship, then you uhhh need to work on that, that’s honestly a writing/creative flaw imo. if you like the relationship dynamic between an aro character and another character, consider making them friends. friendship is not less powerful than romantic relationships. nobody is ever too old for the power of friendship trope. If you’re erasing an aro character’s identity because fuck aros, then fuck off somewhere far away from me and work on your bullshit. qprs, arospec identities, and romance positive aros are all very real, very important parts of the aro community, but please talk to other aros about them and actually make an effort to understand how these things work, dont just assume. And also don’t use these things as a way to erase aro identities and cover your ass if get called out. its disrespectful towards all aros.

The most important thing to do before writing or creating work with aro characters is to talk to aros, and not just the aros that agree with you. look up what a qpr actually is, learn how aros experience their arospec identities, talk to aros with multiple outlooks on romance. and if you can’t bring yourself to reach out, at least read through our own writings, whether that’s fiction, or informational posts, fuck, look through our memes if u wanna. Just please actually make an effort.

So, Can you ship aro characters? its complicated. look at trends in your fandom, question why you want to, and do research. Be an aro ally, listen to us. That’s really the most important thing.
