The pregnancy took her by surprise, even though it really shouldn’t have. She’s not that far along yet, she’s at that part where she can worry if it’ll continue or if something will happen which is why she’s not ready to tell anyone. Making Matt promise to not even tell Kelly who already suspects that there is something more going on here.

Sylvie looks at him from the bed and tries to offer a smile but she wears worry on her sleeve. It doesn’t help that her mother also died in child birth - that adds the worry, but she knows worry isn’t good for the baby.  “You’ll be a great dad, I don’t doubt that. But ... I’m terrified of al the ways this could go wrong. Do I tell everyone? Do I let Boden know? How long should I really wait before letting everyone know? Should I go ahead and work less...?”

Truth of the matter - she couldn’t stop thinking about him either. Ever since that kiss ... it was unlike anything else she ever felt before. The chemistry is off the charts and everyone could see it if they pay attention. But Sylvie still has her issues and doubts about it. Luck hasn’t been on her side as of late in relationships - what if she’s just trying so hard to sabotage this one because she fears what would happen if something happens later?

She needs a girls night, and she needs one rather badly. But instead here she is with Matt trying so hard .  “I can’t stop thinking about you, either..” she confesses, almost sad about it. But she’s not sad about that, just scared. “But is this something we should do..?”

The first person she told was Cassandra - that she had kissed Casey at her apartment which lead to her sofa. But after she asked him about Gabby and the answers he couldn’t give her, Sylvie ‘s heart ached. She wants him, she wants to be with him but how can she when she’ll be in the shadow of his ‘epic’ love? 

Sylvie was trying her best to brush it off, even as Cassandra asked her how she was. She couldn’t lie and say she’s fine because she’s not. Having to see him at work, knowing that what she feels is complicated with no easy way to push through it...she sighs heavily and casts her eyes to the ground.

She didn’t expect Cassandra to call her out like that in Molly’s over a few drinks, but Sylvie also didn’t realize she had been looking at Casey the way she has let alone seeming to pay a compliment here and there. She figured it was nothing more than the admiration and friendship talking, not the ever burning high school type crush she was trying to ignore. 

And yet here she was being called out for it! “What? No.” She quickly dismissed it, waving her hand around dismissively. “Casey and I are just friends - we’ve been trough a lot together, that doesn’t mean...” she shook her head slowly, those blonde locks just moving in sync with the motion of her denial.

Maybe after the day they’ve had ending up at Molly’s wasn’t the best idea. And trying to keep up with her fellow ladies in shots and drinks was also a bad idea. Especially when Matt came over to her and asked her a question. She didn’t exactly hear the question ... Or maybe she did and it was the liquor that was going to answer for her.

Maybe her choice to get engaged was done in haste. It’s not that she didn’t love him but the more she sat on it and saw what life had in store for them back in her home town it just wasn’t home to her anymore. 

And the feelings she thought she had that would end in marriage weren’t exactly that. Did she jump on it too soon? Or did she just feel like in front of everyone she couldn’t say ‘no’? It didn’t matter, all Sylvie knows is that she doesn’t belong here anymore. She belongs in Chicago. That is her home now and those people at the fire-house? Her family. 

She was ready to go back, after talking to Kyle. Ring returned, bags packed and she was just stepping out the door when she saw Casey standing there. There was nothing more than surprise written all over Brett’s face as she looks at him and hears him plead with her to come back. 

Her heart skips thinking that he’s asking not so much on the behalf of everyone but more so for himself. Conflicting emotions were all over the place that eventually steadied themselves as she looked into his eyes.

“About that...” Brett said as though she was about to give him all the reasons she wouldn’t be going back to Chicago, but instead she would reach inside the door and pull out her bags that were already packed and ready to go.

Their chemistry was undeniable - just the look or a brush of a hand. Everyone could see it, and Sylvie felt it. Not that they were hiding it, they just weren’t out to everyone yet. Even if she was certain that some of them already had the idea of something going on. Still, Sylvie just needed a moment.

“I’m coming back.” she chuckled quietly, just speaking above a whisper. “ I’m just going to get some water - can I get you anything?” When she opened the door she heard voices downstairs. Someone was already awake. Maybe she should have checked the time.

SHE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF DECORATING when he came over, and with his help they managed to get far ahead of what she was expecting. It was looking so beautiful, and the back drop of the snow coming down? Gorgeous! Sylvie was certainly feeling the holiday spirit now and spending it with Casey was just making it better. 

“You know what this needs? Hot chocolate.” As she was heading to the kitchen suddenly everything went dark and the only lights were from the open window. Even then that wasn’t enough light to really see much. “Are you kissing me?” Brett asked aloud as she reached out her hands and started feeling around.

Personality: Faith doesn’t like what dad does for a living, it terrifies her even though he’s going out there saving other people, same thing for mama. Because of what they do she has an inclination to be helpful herself. A regular girl scout really. Gets along with everyone in the fire house, everyone is family. She’s got her aunts and her uncles there. 

Special Talents: Gymnastics. She’s a very active girl who likes to run and do flips which they signed her up for when she was about four years old. Before she walked, or crawled, Faith did a flip on her blanket surrounded by her toys.

She’s not sure when it happened but it’s true - she loves him. It’s gone from a family love to something else, something more, something different. Sure, she’s loved before but this was different. Sylvie wasn’t sure what to do about it or just leave it alone. Or does she make the move and risk it all? That’s the thing about dating someone you work with.

SHE HADN’T PLANNED ON THIS, but that’s the thing about love, isn’t it? You don’t plan on it happening. It just does. The chemistry was always there but it wasn’t until they started to spend more one on one time together that what started out as a small spark turned into something more. Now, Brett wouldn’t say it was like a raging forest fire, but it was certainly heating up. 

She could feel it when he said those words to her and the sincerity they held. That was Casey though, wasn’t it? Sylvie didn’t see it sooner because she kept holding up the fact that he’s the ex of her best friend, forgetting that he --  too -- is her friend. 

But they have a chance for something much more than that.

When words couldn’t be found she placed her hands on his shoulders and moved to the tip of her toes so her lips could find his. A deep kiss clearly not meant to be friendly would be given. 

With love comes risks. And she was willing to take this one if he was.
