While Saoirse believed her girlfriend when she said her father's wedding would be a mess, she didn't think that it would be this messy. The femme hadn't been to many weddings in her lifetime, but she was fairly certain that most didn't include the ex-wife sitting front row in white. It was safe to say that understanding Karsen's family dynamic happened to be severely lacking. No wonder she wanted nothing to do with them. The clear vendetta between people who were supposed to be family seemed insane to her. ❝ Are you feeling alright? ❞ Unsure of what to say once they exited the chapel. Her only objective for the night was to make sure Karsen survived the night. ❝ You know, I think we should take some time to go on vacation soon. ❝ Baby... ❞ her hand cuping the side of her jaw, ❝ I'm not carefree a all. I think all the time, but I learned pretty quickly that it doesn't matter how much you think abot something. You can't change things you aren't in control of. ❞ Saoirse knew full well how one could be swallowed by their own mind so she couldn't judge Karsen for expressing her fears to her. It meant she felt safe with her. That's all she wanted to ask for, ❝ It's okay. Look, we all have fears that are warranted and I don't want you to bury that. I'm going to keep you safe as best as I can. ❞ Karsen had a lot on her plate. Dealing with a well-known family in the criminal realm meant that there happened to be a lot of moving pieces and eyes on her. She could still be a target even though she wasn't explicitly involved. The femme hated the thought, but she had a feeling they would make it out okay in the end. Her comment about her having a kind heart made her heart flutter. ❝ If he's in charge than we should be good then. We just have to ride this wave through. ❞

The ginger continued to listen to her girlfriends words. How someone could think to use her shocked her. She couldn't imagine the heartbreak of pouring your all into someone only to find it being based on a complete lie. ❝ As sad as I am to hear that, I'm glad that they left you because now I get to have you all to myself. ❞ Saoirse had a rather jealous love. She loved to keep Karsen to herself all her life if she could. ❝ I kinda blows my mind how people would be willing to marry someone just for the noterity of it all. It seems like too much work to pretend. I hope that it doesn't get that far... It'll cause relief for everyone. I'm sure you're brother is just staying out of it because he assumes it won't last long so there's no need to waste time protesting— It will sort itself out. He sounds like a bit of a pacifist to me.❞ Lifting her brow as she leaned in to kiss her lips tenderly. Pushing her onto her back before she pulled away to breathe, ❝ I think I'm addicted to you, Karsen, I swear. I can't get enough.. ❞

Karsen envies how easy it seems to be for her girlfriend to not have her thoughts overtake her mind. The thing is , Karsen seems to never be able to shut off her mind and it could be a good reason why sleep isn't her friend. ❝ Oh how I wish that I could be so care free about things like you are , but I do know that you're right. That I should be focusing on the now and not about something that maybe won't even happen. I promise I will try and work on remaining in the now and not the future. ❞ It is easy for the blonde to make such a promise but it was going to be more challenging to actually keep it. Karsen is already in fear of the enemies her father has made along the road. Yet she knew many feared her father for the things he had done to people who crossed his path the wrong way , but soon enough her kind hearted brother would be stepping into the place their father once had. Even if Karsen isn't really involved in what happens with her family and the crimes that they take part in , she isn't stupid in knowing that people will use the kind heart of her older brother as a tool to fuck him and his family over. As distant as Karsen is with her family , their still her family in the end and she does love them regardless. ❝ I can lay here and tell you that I can try my best to not overthink , but I know what they're capable of. I don't fear the idea of it happening the moment that Declan takes over because I know he will let me live my life how I want it. He is kind of like you in the aspect of having such a beautiful heart. ❞ It is the only thing that the femme is looking forward to when Declan takes charge. Knowing she will be able to live her life free to do whatever it is that she desires as long as it isn't going to harm her or the others in the long run. However until then her anxiety is going to get the better of her but she is lucky to have someone like her girlfriend to help her keep her mind at rest during those moments.

Saoirse's words bring a soft smile to hear lips knowing that the other femme wasn't going anywhere. ❝ Good , because I truly because that I would be lost without you. You're the first relationship that was in it for more than just the rush of being with someone that comes from a powerful family. Not only that but I've never been in love with someone the way that I am with you. ❞ Blonde's gaze locks with the femme that is still laying beside her , a laugh escaping her at the other's reaction about the news of the age of her father's soon to be wife. ❝ Yeah I can't exactly say that it isn't disgusting , but I am sure she is in it for the idea of the money and the title of being married to a powerful man. I give it maybe a couple months they will be married until my father steps down and she will be out of the picture. Unless .... well Amelia is the cause of it. You're probably right , I just wish that Declan would for once be his own man and not the one he thinks my father wants. ❞ Karsen sighs at the thought of her brother. ❝ Those all sound like wonderful ideas , and definitely think that we could do the last option and maybe one of the other ones too. ❞ A smirk creeping upon femme's lips.

Part of what spurred her need to get engaged is seeing that rest of her family happened to be settling down. Saoirse didn't want Karsen to feel awkward about everyone moving to that chapter in their life, and she wasn't. She also managed to find a perfect ring within that time. Why not just go for it? They had already built a life and were living together. It seemed like the next best step to take. ❝ Oh please, babe, I'm not a saint. I'm just doing what you're supposed to do when you love and care for someone? The bare minimum? We're just having a girls day. ❞ Moving over to kiss the back of her hand. Karsen seemed completely unaware of knowing about the engagement which helped. Plus, she was intentional about just making it seem like a regular busy day for them. ❝ Do you want to get dessert or just head home. I have one last stop before we go home... And I think you're going to absolutely love it. ❞ Knowing that her girlfriend wasn't a huge fan of crowds and stuff, it would be uncomfortable to propose in the restaurant or any other super public setting. Saoirse had the surprise set up in a park nearby that had a bit of seclusion.

Karsen had not been expecting to have such a busy day ahead of them , but that doesn't change the fact that she loves that Saoirse went out of her way to plan such a special day for the two of them. It definitely had been a hell of a couple months for not only Karsen but her entire family in general. Not only had their father got married for the third time , but Declan is married to someone that wasn't like them and her younger sister is engaged. Something that Karsen still couldn't believe happened , but than again unlike herself and Declan she wasn't going to be with someone of her actual choice. Which left the blonde to believe that her sister must have stepped on some wrong toes to have their brother set up and arranged marriage. Karsen had enjoyed each moment of the day that the two had spent together and it was almost like the redheaded woman knew exactly what she needed after the craziness of the past month. Femme's complete attention is on her girlfriend the moment she takes her hand before she even begins to speak. ❝ I don't think there is anyway I couldn't not enjoyed today when I got to spend it with my favourite person in this entire world. TIME SKIP

Today happened to be the big day. The day that Saoirse would get down on one knee and ask Karsen to marry her. Her nerves were in her chest. She knew that her girlfriend would likely say yes, but it didn't take away the importance of such a big step. Saoirse felt she rushed a lot of stuff in the beginning: moving in right away and jumping into a relationship. She didn't want her girlfriend to feel pressured or rushed into saying yes to marrying her. She'd wait however long she needed. Still, her hands were clammy holding the velvet box in her pocket. She wanted Karsen to have the most perfect day before they got to the good stuff. That's why she suggested it would be a good treat yourself day. Getting massages, their hair done, their nails done, going out for almost every meal and shopping. The femme thought it'd be a big surprise since Karsen did all of these things with her, she wouldn't see the proposal coming. Right now, they were ending their date at a scenic restaurant . Taking her hand, she curiously asked, ❝ I hope you really enjoyed today. This month has been hectic, and I just wanted to make sure I don't neglect your TLC. ❞

❝ I am not going to be holding my breath that we're going to be able to have a relationship like we did when we were younger. It definitely isn't going to be possibly if she keeps that guy around. ❞ Sure Karsen doesn't come around her family all that often or even involve herself with their world , but she could tell from a mile away that the blonde was no good for Amelia. If Karsen wsa a confrontational person she would have slapped that grin off of his face as quickly as he appeared. Sure she may not have a close relationship with her younger sister anymore but that doesn't mean that she doesn't want what is best for her , and Mason definitely isn't the answer. ❝ I am sure that Declan would love to meet you too , and I am sure that he won't be shy about expressing how happy he is that his sister found someone that makes her extremely happy. ❞ The last part of her statement was just Karsen making sure that her girlfriend knew just how happy she is with her. ❝ If I am being honest I think I always knew that I was more into girls before we became serious. I more less dated guys for the sake of keeping my father happy. So the day that I finally said fuck that was probably one of the best days of my life. ❝While I'm glad that she's not going to mess with us, I feel a bit bad that you don't get along. Granted, I have no clue what having a sibling is like, but still. I don't know how you keep up with all of the drama... It seems like way too much work. ❞ Saoirse hadn't been more glad that she came from a normal family. At least, normal from her perspective. Her girlfriend confirming her suspicions of the blonde being involved in this disaster made her shake her head in disbelief. ❝ Unbelivable... I would say they should feel ashamed of themselves, but I don't think that's even possible with the two of them. ❞ It is one thing to not like the bride, but this went beyond embarrassment. Saoirse couldn't help hide the fact that she felt giddy about meeting the nicer sibling of the bunch. ❝ Let's make it happen then, babe. I can't wait. ❞ Little did she know that things with the older male would prove to make things just as complicated as Amelia's stunt.

Saoirse laughed before shaking her head, ❝Oh gosh... No, you wouldn't have wanted to do that. If you met me any sooner, we might have been in friendzone purgatory. ❞ She didn't come around to liking girls until experiencing some a serious heartbreak with her high school sweetheart. It sucked that it took her so long to see the light, but she would've never been with Karsen without it. She wouldn't be here stealing greedy kisses from the love of her life. It took a lot of mental strength to pull away. She just had to remind herself that this level od pda probably wasn't exceptable until after everyone got drunk. She had a feeling that the bar would be packed to wash off the awkwardness of before. ❝ You're right... It's kinda weird. He could've married her off to your brother, but for some reason he decided to marry her instead? Maybe he's just trying to feel young again? I've heard of a bunch of guys doing that once they hit their mid-life crisis point. But enough about this... It's already done and over with. A cocktail is calling our names. ❝ I don't think that we need to worry about Amelia coming after our relationship. Even though we are sisters because of our bloodline , we've never been close and I doubt we ever will be. She targets our brother because she is threatened by him , and she will never admit it but it is the truth. Then you had the jealousy in that Declan is getting what she wants ... our family's business. ❞ Maybe the blonde should fear that someday her sister will turn her sights on her , but for now she has no plans on focusing on something that is not an issue to their relationship. Sure Karsen doesn't involve herself in her family's affairs but having Gabriel as Amelia's date hat Declan written all over it. She may not be around her family's home often but she once overheard her sister and brother fighting over her meddling in his relationship with some woman named Violet. ❝ I really don't know much about the guy , but I bet you're not wrong about him. He definitely gives me the type of guy that Amelia would date. Attractive and bad news. With each kiss from the other she can't help bit smile against her lips. Karsen had never been this happy in life before and she didn't know if she'd ever get to be. The when she lease expected it Saoirse came out of no where and changed her life for the better. ❝ You'd never need such an excuse to get me to massage you. ❞ Fem teases back. Karsen knows that taking this vacation is something that she needs mentally after dealing with the events of today. Fem knowing that she is going to need a long break from her family and the mess that it has become. ❝ I honestly have no idea what my father is thinking. If he was going to remarry after my mother fine , but after the second divorce he should have stopped there. This new wife is never going to survive in this family. I mean we just saw what Amelia did to her. Do I think that she is a gold digger? Honestly I don't know. My sister is pretty set on it because she believes there is no way that someone her age would actually be in love with someone our father's age. Saoirse listen carefully to Karsen's words. It seems like her sister went through a lot. No wonder. Every event seemed to compound on her before she turned into a monster. The ginger felt bad even though it wasn't an excuse for what she pulled today. No one liked the women her father was marrying. She didn't have to go to extremes to prove it. The entire room was uncomfortable watching them get married. That alone should've been enough to call it off, but he seemed like the type of man who was too stubborn to see when he fucked up. ❝ I hope that you guys can become close again. Who knows? Maybe a miracle can happen that will turn this whole thing around. ❞ Saoirse just wished her girlfriend had the comforts that she did. The family cycle had to break sooner or later. ❝That sounds like a plan. I'd love to meet him. ❞ She had a few tricks up her sleeve, but she wanted to run them by her brother before she did anything out of the ordinary.

Saoirse laughed at her words, ❝ I get it. I only dated guys for the most part, and it sucked because those relationships always worked out better when we were broken up than when we were together... It's kind of worse. Try living with friendzoning you boyfriend. I just in denial then... It took me to realize that I just liked girls more ❞ She couldn't forget the times before. She never had bad relationships. She just had a desire greater than the men in her life. It is a time in her life she would always be grateful for because it lead her to Karsen. ❝ I know that it is kind of hard to believe after the shit show that we just witnessed , but Amelia was once a more gentle person. She first started changing into her now version when our father ripped out mother out of our lives and made it clear none of us have contact with her. At the end of their relationship he was cheating with some girl from another well known family. It crushed my sister and it made her become the rough version she is now. Saoirse could tell that Karsen meant what she said which did pain her a bit. She didn't have siblings of her own, but she couldn't imagine dealing with someone so cruel. ❝ It sucks, but I'm glad she doesn't really mess with you. ❞ Its the most she could offer. Listening to Karsen explain the messy situation that Amelia had caused overwhelmed her. The fact that she managed to have two boys underneath her thumb at her beck and call made zero sense. Her ex and her boyfriend in the same square footage could have been a complete disaster. Saoirse is glad that those two hadn't started a fight yet. ❝ He seems like a shit head. I thought I saw him grinning the entire time. You think he knew your mom was coming? ❞ Wondering if they could plot something that insane. ❝ Maybe we should schedule a dinner with him. She had a feeling that ti may be like this which is why she offered for lip stain rather than a lipstick. The last thing she wanted to do is ruin Karsen's make up before kisses due to a red lip. ❝ I mean, it's really just an excuse to get you to massage me, ❞ she teased. The idea of a trip did seem to offer them the relief they needed during this hectic season. With wedding season coming up, it would be nice to get a breather before possibly diving into another insane wedding. ❝ Do you think that he think this might be three times the charm? Before her girlfriend , Karsen had her brief flings but she never found the love that she has developed for the fem as quickly as she has before. Maybe it is crazy to say but she knew that the redhead is the woman that she wants to spend the rest of her life with. She has become the only person that is able to make Kersen happy even when she is in a sad mood. ❝ I am glad that you're willing to sacrifice possible sunburns for the sake of me. I promise that I will make every second worth it. ❞ Fem bites her lower lip at just the idea of the fun the two will have. ❝ Oh I really do hope so , because I am not sure that my father can handle any more embarrassment on what is suppose to be the most important day of his life for the third time. ❞ Karsen roles her eyes in annoyance as the words leave her lips.

❝ Is this a thing that she does? Embarrassing people like that? ❞ Saoirse could've sworn she saw the bride crying, and not in a "I'm happy that I'm getting married" kind of way. A marriage to a girl this young to man who could've hold onto a relationship like his life depended on it leant to it not lasting long anyways. She couldn't understand why the blonde couldn't just let life happen. ❝ Her boyfriend? You mean the guy who was sitting next to her or the guy she left with? Amelia definitely seems to know how to go out with bang. I can't believe she'd plan something like this with him and he didn't even stop her. I don't blame you from keeping a distance from all of this. I would totally stop you if you came up with this plan in some mischevous anger... Even though I like supporting your bad decisions. ❞ She yried her best to support Karsen, but she'd never let her firlfriend embarrass herself in front of everyone.

Shaking her head, ❝ I'm not the greatest in the world, I'm just decent. It's sad that you haven't been around many decent people. We should make that a new year's resolution or something like that. ❞ The redhead couldn't give herself too much credit. She was far from perfect, but she definitely did her best to love her girlfriend. Seeing the look of adoration in Karsen's eyes couldn't stop her from kissing her temple. It happened to be one of her favorite things to do from time to time. ❝ It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make, ❞ she laughed before letting her out of the hug. ❝ Let's hope she got it out of her system. ❞

❝ I pity Amelia you know. Sadly someday her karma is going to come back and get her and I don't think it is going to end kindly for her. I understand that this marriage wasn't something she wanted. None of us wanted him to marry a woman so much younger than him , but that doesn't mean I agree that any of us should have done what she did. ❞ It is the fact that like her brother Declan , Karsen has too much of a kind heart to ever want to have any kind of involvement in their family's crime business. It only came as a blessing that her father has plans to be stepping down that evening from his postion and giving it to her brother. It meant that she'd be able to live peacefully with her girlfriend without having any bullshit trying to tear them apart. ❝ I do hope that Amelia does find someone that is going to be able to give her the peace in life that she needs. I don't know the guy she is dating but it is obviously not him if he wasn't willing to prevent her from such cruel behaviour. ❞ Karsen is never one to judge someone she doesn't know but from her understanding there is no way that the male didn't know what her sister had planned. Beliving that he could have stopped her if he really wanted to. Karsen is so grateful to have a partner that is so loving and caring. If had been up to her the two of them would have bailed on the reception and would have went and did there own thing the rest of the evening. Saoirse found herself shocked at Karsen's reflection/ How she found empathy for all parties regardless how she felt. It amazed her. She knew that she wouldn't be able to think about others feelings if she was in her girlfriend's shoes. ❝ You are a way better person than I am...❞ she remarked with a smile, ❝ I'm assuming that this is something Amelia had been plotted for a long time. Most people in this world are not as strong as you are; they want people to feel as miserable as themselves... We need more people in the world like you. ❞ She meant it with every bit of her. Wrappingher arms firmly around the other in an attempt to keep her anchored. ❝ Well I'd always love to see that. I guess I'll have to go shopping for a bunch of sunscreen then.❞ The teasing was fun but she meant it. ❝ Alright... Let's do it.❞ She wasn't sure how long people would wait to move to the receptional hall, but luckily everything seemed close by.

❝ I don't understand how she could be so cold hearted to pull the trick of having our mother there and to have her wear white. Of course I didn't want this wedding to happen , but I could never go to the extent she did to ruin it. DId you see the look at that poor woman's face the moment she realized whom the woman sitting in the front row with her soon to be husband's children and their dates. Sure maybe I would have much rather see him either stay single or marry a woman closer to his age , but I would never want to be the cause of hurting someone like my sister did. ❞ Karsen has always felt like she could pour her heart out to her girlfriend without any type of judgement. Being in the other femme's embrace does bring comfort to the blonde. It was like she always kenw what Karsen needed in the moment whether it was physical affection or words. ❝ You know I think going to Australia sounds kind of fun. Her heart sank at Karsen's words. Pulling her into a close hug, she squeezed her, hoping that just covering her in her arms could shelter her from the rest of the world, even if it was just for a second.
