Highly Suspect Reviews: Madame Web MADAME WEB MOVIE REVIEW Sony Pictures’ spin-off Spider-verse keeps getting more bizarre in the way it plucks side characters from Spider-Man’s story and reinvents them for its own purposes. None more so than Madame Web, which takes the 90-something year old clairvoyant and makes her Dakota Johnson. In this world, Spider-Man doesn’t exist yet (it’s set in 2003) and Johnson, who plays Cassie Webb, is the orphaned daughter of a woman who died in the Amazon after finding a rare spider that a group of super-spider-people let bite her in an attempt to save her life after she was shot… Read More »Highly Suspect Reviews: Madame Web read more on One of Us

#TH1RTE3N is a group verse based around original slasher lore. if you want to know more or you’re interested in joining, please read the CARRD.
the plot follows a slasher in two different timelines, targeting a group of friends who all went to school together. the first timeline takes place in the summer of 2009, following graduation leading up to the first six victims being killed. there was a thirteen year gap, where most of the survivors fled town and moved on with their lives. the second time line picks up in the summer of 2022 with kill #7, when first hale came back to hell and ended up being the first kill of the new timeline. the killer used the funeral and threatened family members and friends to lure the other six names on the list back to hell. the original six victims are available to be written in the 2009 timeline. to make this plot work best, we need other citizens of hell, ohio too. think of the characters in your favorite slasher films. cops, classmates, siblings and cousins, exes, anyone that could spice up the plot through dynamics. you are welcome to make another character affiliated with any other existing character in the plot, as long as you discuss it with the mun of the character you are affiliating with first (i will check, don't be weird.)

𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑲𝑰𝑹𝑩𝒀 𝑷𝑳𝑨𝑪𝑬 𝑰𝑺 𝑳𝑶𝑶𝑲𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑭𝑶𝑹 𝑵𝑬𝑾 𝑻𝑬𝑵𝑨𝑵𝑻𝑺 !!
welcome to the kirby place, an apartment complex that is way more than just a place to live, it’s a community. our establishments count with many shops and restaurants on the ground floor as well as being in close range of a farmers market for every resident to enjoy and hang out in.
come join our growing family now, in the building that includes studios, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom apartments. don’t forget to rejoice in our many events and parties that are thrown for everyone to have a chance to socialize and feel like they are the priority of the kirby place, never have a dull moment in our building.
𝑺𝑼𝑴𝑴𝑨𝑹𝒀 !
the kirby place is a chill and relaxed apartment 28+ discord verse based in chicago, heavily focused on character development and relationships of them with the other members. hopefully focused on the writing and moving your muse’s life forward. it will mostly be a plotless group to keep the growth of the characters as a priority but it will count with many small events to keep things moving and interesting !
𝑹𝑼𝑳𝑬𝑺 !
01. first and foremost, NO OOC DRAMA, we are all adults and are all friends here there is no need to air out your drama on the chat, if you do have a problem with someone or something happening please reach out to me in private and we can figure out a solution for the problem. but of course ic drama is always encouraged.
02. as said before this a 28+ group verse, which means all muses must be over the age of 28 ( muns must be over 18 since it will probably have mature themes ). now i usually go with the ± 5 years rule for a fc, but please keep in mind that someone under the age of 25 probably shouldn’t play a 28 year old character.
03. i plan to be more lenient with the activity, considering i’m striving for this to be a more writing based verse and i’m well aware how time consuming school and work can be, but i beg everyone to try to be the most active they can be !
04. please no bubble rping, i know this sounds weird saying on a small group but please please make sure you are reaching out, plotting and interacting with everyone in the group !!
05. each mun is allowed to play TWO characters !!

Sunday service had just ended, but Noah Tillman-Young called his small congregation back for another prayer. Shots had been fired at a rural church just down the road — a church a lot like theirs.
As his 30-some parishioners stood in a circle asking God for protection, something changed for the pastor of Joyful Heart. An act of mass violence in his Stockdale, Tex., church was no longer unthinkable. Ten miles away, 26 people were dead at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, the deadliest shooting at a house of worship in the country’s modern history.
That night, Tillman-Young and parish leaders held a vigil for their neighbor church. The next day, they decided to arm their own.
“It’s nothing you ever imagine could happen, but when it hits so close to home, you have no choice — you can’t ignore it and you have to prepare,” Tillman-Young said. “It’s the reality that houses of worship are increasingly becoming targets.”
With a new team of private security officers and an armed corps of volunteers, Joyful Heart joined the wave of small and midsize places of worship adopting security measures to gird against the rising threat of violent attacks.
'This community will heal': A small town mourns an enormous loss Residents of Sutherland Springs, Tex., grappled with the mass shooting that took 26 lives from the community in November 2017. (Alice Li/The Washington Post) While there is no definitive tracking of shootings or other attacks on houses of worship, several researchers and the federal government have documented a significant rise in targeted acts — particularly those with high death tolls.
FBI statistics show a 35 percent increase in hate crimes at churches, synagogues, temples and mosques from 2014 to 2018, the most recent year for which data is available. The nonprofit Faith Based Security Network found a 60 percent increase in “non-accidental deaths” at such sites from 2014 to 2017. And of the 88 people killed in mass shootings at places of worship since 1966 — defined as incidents in which four or more people were killed — more than half the deaths came in the last five years, according to The Washington Post’s mass shootings database.
This spike has prompted several state legislatures to write or revise firearm laws to make it easier for people to carry guns in houses of worship.
Since the Sutherland Springs shooting in November 2017, lawmakers in 14 states have introduced 40 bills, according to a Post analysis using Quorum, a database of state and federal legislation. Several are still being debated and six have been enacted, from Louisiana to North Dakota.
In the first weeks of 2020, legislators, most of them Republicans, have introduced 13 bills allowing armed security in places of worship. The flurry of lawmaking began just days after a gunman killed two people in late December at a church in White Settlement, Tex., before an armed volunteer shot and killed him. The volunteer’s action won praise for a state law that allows parishioners to carry firearms.
Laws under consideration in Florida and Missouri would allow anyone with a concealed-carry permit to bring a firearm into a religious building. In New Jersey, a proposed law would allow houses of worship to select one person to carry a handgun for security. And in Virginia, Republicans have introduced four bills to repeal a law that bars the carrying of weapons in a place of worship “without good and sufficient reason.”
Experts say that churches, synagogues and mosques, with their typically welcoming environments and looser safety measures, can make for easier targets, especially as businesses and schools ramp up security. But more places of worship are turning to surveillance equipment and armed guards, especially volunteers from the congregation, who blend in and save the parish money, said Carl Chinn, president of the Faith Based Security Network.
Chinn and other security consultants said they’re getting more inquiries from nervous congregations. Business is always busier after a shooting, and Chinn said recent incidents were “a wake-up call.”
“Churches are waking up to the fact that the way to stop a bad person with a dangerous weapon is a good person with a weapon and training,” he said.
Gun-control advocates balk at the idea that more weapons will create safer spaces, and others suggest that armed security — especially volunteers — may actually bring more risk.
“Whenever firearms are present, there’s always room for error and the possibility that the guns which are intended to protect become liable to endanger,” said James Densley, a criminal justice professor at Metropolitan State University in Minnesota. “Arming parishioners so they can make the kind of split-second decisions that police get wrong worries me a little bit.”
But Chinn, who has tracked the use of deadly force in churches since 1999, said he hasn’t seen an instance in which innocent people were hit by a volunteer’s gunfire.
“There’s risks anytime you have defenders,” he said. “Of course, the risk is that innocent people might get hurt. But here’s what I tell people: That has not happened. We shouldn’t get wrapped around the axle of ‘what ifs.’ It’s not even comparable to the number of times people were hurt and nobody was there to protect them.”
Security teams can minimize the risks by training often and schooling themselves in more than firearm marksmanship, said Steve Padin, a retired police officer who is a chief consultant for the Watchman’s Academy, a church security firm.
The volunteers that Padin sees, mostly men, often have a background in the military or law enforcement. And when they don’t, Padin said, they need to learn to think like those who do.
A well-trained security guard should be versed in de-escalation and disarming tactics, be able to recognize suspicious behavior and be ready to act quickly, said Padin, who travels the country training security teams at churches and synagogues.
“You should not get to the point where you have to use a firearm,” he said.
At Beth Tikkun Messianic Fellowship in Akron, Ohio, Vic Agosta and his small team of volunteer security guards huddle outside the sanctuary before Saturday service. They all carry guns, and every weekend they pray they won’t need to use them.
Agosta helped form the team eight years ago, when the congregation of 200 was growing quickly. Agosta, who is a lineman for a power company, doesn’t have a background in law enforcement or the military like some of his fellow volunteers. But he does have family in the pews, including a daughter with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair.
“Just the thought of someone coming into a service of ours and opening fire on us,” he said. “My daughter couldn’t run for cover.”
In Ohio, places of worship must give permission before attendees can bring in concealed handguns — a restriction that Agosta, a Second Amendment advocate, supports.
“I think you should be able to carry a weapon, but I like the control that private entities have, like churches or places of business, to say who can and cannot carry,” Agosta said.
His church asks congregants to leave their guns at home and trust in the security team.
“We don’t want you to carry,” Agosta said. “But we’ll protect you the best we can.”
At Grace Fellowship, a small born-again Christian church in suburban Omaha, Greg Eckert runs a volunteer team with four other men. He’s recruiting more volunteers from the church’s 97 members, but some have trouble passing his test. It has two questions: Will you give up your life for the congregation, and will you kill for it?
“It sounds like a silly thing to ask for a Christian believer, but God doesn’t lay down for that stuff,” Eckert said. “There were people in the Bible who had to kill at God’s command. If they can’t answer yes to that, I don’t want them.”
He requires his team to practice shooting once a month, and he tests their accuracy four times a year, keeping their bullet-pocked targets on file and dated. In Nebraska, only designated security personnel are permitted to carry concealed handguns in houses of worship — and only if the leadership has given permission and informed the congregation.
“I don’t believe any church should be just an open-carry-type situation,” Eckert said. “But I don’t think it would be prudent to have a law that you could never carry in church, either.”
Outside New York City, which has its own gun laws, New York state has no laws prohibiting firearms in places of worship. And parishioners are better off for it, said Jim Woods, the head of security at the nondenominational Niagara Frontier Bible Church, not far from the famous falls. He’s one of 10 volunteers who greet newcomers at the door, keep an eye on the parking lot and carry a weapon.
“Years ago, it wouldn’t even have crossed my mind [that] you would need to defend yourself in church,” Woods said.
One of the most notorious attacks at a place of worship was the 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala., where Ku Klux Klan members detonated dynamite, killing four children and injuring 22 people.
Since then, attacks at places of worship have been divided into two categories: hate-fueled assaults and those related to domestic violence. Both types are increasing in frequency and deadliness, said Densley, who also co-founded the Violence Project, which tracks mass shootings.
In 2012, a neo-Nazi killed six people at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, south of Milwaukee. Three years later, a white supremacist hoping to start a race war killed nine at Charleston’s Emanuel AME Church. And in 2018, anti-Semitic online screeds were connected to the man accussed of bursting into the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh and killing 11.
These were some of the deadliest and most high-profile shootings at American houses of worshipBut more common are shootings that are extensions of intimate-partner violence or domestic disputes, like the massacre in Sutherland Springs. In those cases, Densley said, the shooter is usually a member of the congregation.
“We’re often afraid of the stuff we don’t know and don’t understand that’s outside of us, when really the biggest risk is right in front of us,” he said.
At Joyful Heart Church, the new security measures have also inspired Tillman-Young and his wife and fellow pastor, Allison, to look inward. They’ve spent more time getting to know their members and their families.
“When you’re in the community, you see those red flags, and you see them before they come to a head and get ugly,” he said. “That kind of intentional connection, that relationship, showing people love — it helps to prevent that kind of stuff.”
But more than looser gun laws and armed guards, Tillman-Young said it’s his faith that makes him feel safe.
“We’re packing,” he said, “but we’re also packing the power of God and trusting in God to keep us protected.”

Exodus 28:1-43, Matthew 25:31-26:13, Psalms 31:9-18, Proverbs 8:12-13
Today is the 8th day of February. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and it, of course, is great to be here with you every day including today as we round the corner on another work week. So, we’ve been reading from the Amplified Bible this week and we’ll continue to do that until this week is over. And we’re reading our way through the book of Exodus right now, and the formation of a culture, and the shift of an identity from that of a slave to that of a chosen people. So, God has been telling Moses about the tabernacle, the place that would be in the center of the culture, the center of the camp, the Place where God would dwell with His people and how He would like that to be set up and the proper care for it as they moved around. So, we’ll pick up where we left off yesterday. Today, Exodus chapter 28.
Commentary:
Okay. So, for the last several days as we’ve been moving through the gospel of Matthew Jesus has been holding a discourse on the end times and we conclude that conversation in today's reading. And it was a lengthy conversation with a lot to chew on. But as Jesus concludes this final discussion He describes the final judgment and he talks about sitting on His glorious throne and then all the nations are brought into His presence and then separated, right? Some to His right and some to His left. The sheep on the right, the goats on the left. And can we pause here and understand that Jesus is holding a conversation about the end times and the final judgment. So, it would not be a bad idea to pay attention to what He’s saying. And what He’s saying is, “He will sit on a throne and the nations of the world will come before Him and He will separate them into two camps, the sheep and the goats.” So, what's the difference between the sheep and the goats? It's the way that they cared for other people, right? So, to the sheep Jesus would be like, “come, your blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom that has been made for you from the beginning of the world because I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me drink, right, stranger and you invited me in your home, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you cared for me, I was in prison and you visited me.” And in the story the sheep respond like, “when did we ever do that”? And the response is, “you did it when you did it for the least of these”. The goats on the other hand were sent away. Same kind of conversation happens only they did not care for others in the way that Jesus is describing. So, from Jesus teaching on the end times and His teaching on God's kingdom, we learn that our ability to see and participate is directly connected to whether we’re paying attention or not and maintaining the posture of a servant. And if there's one thing that Jesus gave us an example of its being a servant. And if there's one thing that Jesus was outspoken about it is that we are to follow that example and be a servant. And that can only happen out of a relationship with Jesus. I mean, our actions will align themselves with the most important relationships in our lives. So, we have to be awake and aware and vigilant, which we were talking about yesterday because God's kingdom matters to us more than any other distraction and we’ll steward what we've been given because we understand that everything we have is wholly dependent on God's grace and we’ll work on behalf of the Master by seeing the world through His eyes and caring for those who need a touch from Jesus because when we touch someone we can be giving them the touch of Jesus. We are, after all, the body of Christ in this world, His hands and feet. So, when we do these things on behalf of the least of these we’re doing it to Jesus.
Prayer:
Jesus, we acknowledge that we’re often not paying attention, especially to those who might need a touch from You, those who are the least of these. And when we think of the least of these we think of the poorest of the poor and that matters greatly because You speak about caring for the less fortunate throughout the Scriptures, but a person can gain the whole world and lose their soul, so some of the poorest of the poor among us are perhaps even those who have plenty of worldly goods, but they do not know You. And what You are suggesting here is really a change of posture, that we simply become more aware as we move through this world, that we simply become less self-focused on what we're dealing with and equally focused on what others are dealing with because we’re all dealing with things. So, show us how to shift our hearts and begin to look outward with love at everyone around us. So, practically, rather than being angry at somebody who’s not paying attention to their driving or something like that, give us the eyes and ears to understand that they may be going through something that we can't even imagine having to endure. Give us a heart to bless those who curse us, whether with their mouths or with their erratic driving. Help us Jesus to change the way that we look outwardly because we spend so much of our lives looking at ourselves and what we’re experiencing as if we’re the only people here when You've actually given us permission and empowered us with Your Spirit to do in this world the things that You did and continue to do. Show us how we fit into that story. Show us how our attitudes and postures need to change. Show us how to find Your face in the least of these. We ask this in Your precious name. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is the website, its home base, of course, where you find out what’s going on around here.
I have mentioned a couple times this week that…man…little over a week from now and we will be off on our annual pilgrimage to the to the Promise Land where we will experience the land of the Bible and contextualize the Bible by its geography. And, yeah, those of us who are going a person, it will be epic, no doubt, but this is a community experience. And, so, whether you're going physically our or not, you still get to go, you still get to go virtually. This is a good time to follow Daily Audio Bible on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram if you just want to see kind of the posts that are coming sometimes even hourly. We try to post as often as we can. Sometimes there's, you know, not as much connectivity and we have to wait until we’re in some zone where we have cell, but we’re continually kind of making this a virtual experience. And I will obviously be discussing and describing the things that we are seeing and doing as we take this journey. So, this is kind of a time when the Bible begins to come alive inside the community as we’re journeying forward toward springtime. So, my request of this community, is that we pray, that we ask God for strength and stamina and traveling mercies and health and jet lag, and all of these things that kind of go along with basically going to the other side of the world. So, if we can begin to pray into that, it gives us as we leave an enormous amount of comfort to know that we are not alone and that our brothers and sisters all over the world are praying. So, thank you, thank you for your prayers over the upcoming trip to Israel.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hi this is for __. This is Scott from Michigan. I’m with you brother, my prayers are with you. I offer you a scripture that carried me through my cancer, that was 2 Corinthians 1 verses 9 and 10. “Indeed we felt we have received the sentence of death, but this happened that might allow ourselves to know God who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril and He deliver us again. On Him we have our hope. He will continue to deliver us.” I hear you brother, my heart is with you, I’m walking with you, I’m praying with you, I’m praying for you to have the peace that passes all understanding. It was told to me, fear not for your salvation is secure. He will take care of you through this valley. Trust Him. You’re loved my brother. You’ve never seen me or heard me before, but we are together in Christ the Lord. Love you my man. Be strong.
Hi, Daily Audio Bible family, it’s James here from the UK, I hope you are well. And I’m just wanting to call in and to thank the Norwegian from North Dakota. I was really moved by what you said, and I just really wanted to let you know that I think that your statement was really powerful. There was a lot of guys listening to the podcast and I’m sure many of us have experienced that idea of being made to feel stupid by their wives and it goes both ways. So, I think, you know, this is my prayer, a mirror image Norwegian of North Dakota, that many times us men are really good at emotion withdrawing and making our wives feel worthless as well. And we just do the basics and we get by and we decide we’re gonna shut down when we find it hard to deal with some of the hard truths that our wives want us to deal with. And just in the same way as you’ve encourage the women not to make their husbands feel stupid, I am encouraging the guys to pray just as fervently and behave just as adequately that we would mirror Christ like behavior in our marriages and we would do it much more practically, much more intentionally and that we’d ask Jesus to help us learn how to love. In His name. Amen.
Hi, I’m calling in about my mom, she’s just an amazing mom. She handles us kids like…like she’s really a good mom. I just wanted to reach out to her for us. And, so, let’s pray. Lord, I thank you for my mom because she’s so caring, she’s so understanding to all of us __. Basically, she’s like the best mom out there. So, please bless her and let her have a good day today. __ . Amen.
Hi Daily Audio Bible family, it’s Mary Lynn calling again from New Brunswick Canada. And I just want to lift up the Rebecca from Michigan. Rebecca, every time you call I smile so big that my face hurts. I have never known anyone who’s desire to be obedient is so ravishing as yours. You bring every single thing in your life captive to Christ and that is just so admirable, and I just want to shout you out and to lift you up. Lord, I want to lift Rebecca up to you right now. Lord, she has called in for Your guidance on finances, she has called for Your guidance on friends, she called for Your guidance on her hobbies and how to use her gifts. Lord, she has called on how to surround Yourself with good Christian friends. Lord, it is obvious to me that this woman wants You to saturate every avenue of her life and I just pray Lord that You would honor that and bless her with the riches that You have in Your kingdom. Father, I just lift her up to You and ask Lord that You would bless her with Christian friends Lord. I pray that You would press her with the ability to be responsible with her finances. Lord I pray that You would bless her with the ability to de-clutter her life and to make You the absolute center. In Jesus’ name Lord I just lift her up. Rebecca, you just keep on keeping on girl. You are doing an awesome, awesome job. And just one more shout out to oh…the gentleman oh gosh I’ve lost your name, but you talked about how Jesus had been tempted by the spirit of suicide and that was revelation brother, revelation. Thank you for that. I hope to call back. Soon. Just blessings over all of you right now. Thank you. Amen.
Hey Nonna this is Ben in Ohio and I heard you on February 5th talking about how you were falling away from God and I wanted to encourage you. Listen, sister, you are not falling away from God. Okay? I can hear you. I hear in your voice that you are drowning. It may be that right now only your nose and your lips are above the water and the rest of you is absolutely drowning in despair and I want to encourage you that the thought that you recognize that things are not right just means that God is pursuing you and you are valuable to Him, you are a treasure to Him, you are a little lamb, you’re my sister. Okay? So, continue to call out to God. Ask Him to come get you. And we see complete precedence for this in the way He came to get the Israelites, right? He initiated the rescue mission. He called to Moses and said, “go say these things, this is who I am”, and that’s the same God, that your God and he’s after you. Okay? So, don’t despair. And don’t think that, you know, you are going to get right with God through your performance. It doesn’t work that way. Okay? Ask Him to change you. He will change you. Heavenly Father, thank You for my sister Nonna. Lord God I just pray that You would go get her Lord I pray that You would set up a rescue mission to…

The 10 Best & Worst Moments at the 2017 Grammys
The 10 Best & Worst Moments at the 2017 Grammys
How will we remember the 2017 Grammys? A lot of it will have to do with what Adele won and what Beyoncé didn’t win. As for everything within the power of the night’s two leading ladies, both absolutely crushed it, delivering riveting performances that highlighted both their godly greatness and their earthbound humanity.
And lots of other people were there, too! Through the tributes, the team-ups, the WTF moments — we bring you the 2017 Grammys, condensed into 10 best and worst moments.
Best Moments
1. A Tribe Called Quest Vs. “President Agent Orange”
From Neil Portnow’s speech to the Constitution showing up with Katy Perry, the evening contained numerous political guest spots. But if anything captured the direness of living in Trump’s America, it was A Tribe Called Quest’s otherworldly performance. There was Q-Tip saluting Phife Dawg. There was Anderson .Paak on drums. There was Busta Rhymes ripping apart “President Agent Orange.” And there was 2016 single “We the People,” coming to life with representatives of a melting pot of ethnicities walking down the aisles. Q-Tip ended it all with one word: “RESIST.” Point taken.
2. Chance the Rapper’s Coronation
And let’s hear it for Chance the Rapper. The secret of his stardom has been out for a while, but watching him tear through his Coloring Book medley just after grabbing a pair of televised awards (Best Rap Album and Best New Artist) was the sort of inspirational high that can make you — yes, you! — believe in scoring major endorsement deals and a Big Four Grammy without a record label’s backing. But it wasn’t like he hogged the spotlight. A gospel choir cranked up the grandiosity and guest spots from Tamela Mann, Kirk Franklin and his cousin Nicole (the star of “How Great’s” iPhone-shot video) made the coronation of Chance the Rapper complete.
3. Beyoncé’s Strength
Beyoncé didn’t come away with Album of the Year. “Formation” was shut out for Song and Record of the Year. But for everything actually in her own power, Bey was her own spellbinding self. Looking absolutely regal and showing off her double baby bump proudly, she delivered glowing, sincere renditions of “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles.” These were two of the less-championed Lemonade tracks, yet they took on a new purpose as Beyoncé delivered them alongside her mother Tina, Blue Ivy, Jay Z and her soon-to-be family members.
4. Bruno Mars Plays Prince
It’s impossible to replace Prince, but Bruno Mars did his best. Following The Time’s performance, the similarly-diminutive showman soared beyond his stature and replicated the Purple One’s onstage swagger over a standout “Let’s Go Crazy” cover.
5. Lady Gag-tallica
The Grammys are a big production, and when you have big productions on live television with people singing into microphones, it’s a good idea to, you know, make sure the mics work. Lady Gag-tallica got off to an awkward start, but once it kicked in, we all knew Gaga could’ve killed it as a metal frontwoman in some alternate universe where “Heavy Metal Lover” was more than a footnote in her sneakily genre-defiant catalog (who else could hold their own alongside Metallica and Tony Bennett?) And let’s not forget the band, either. Metallica tearing through its 2016 single “Moth Into Flame” with blistering precision is nothing new, but James Hetfield working through microphone difficulties while going toe-to-toe with Gaga at the mic certainly was. Was it schmaltzy? It contained choreographed moshing, so yes, but for the sort of genre-blending, only-at-the-Grammys fare the Recording Academy so clearly craves, Gaga and Metallica delivered. And seriously — how could Gaga and post-Black Album Metallica be their best selves without hamming it up?
6. Let’s Hear It For Activism
Tribe, Perry and others who turned their political messages into high-profileperformances will dominate the post-Grammy conversation, but let’s not forget the smaller bits of activism that made their way into the evening. Paris Jackson protested the Dakota Access Pipeline and Laverne Cox called out #StandWithGavin, support for 17-year-old Gavin Grimm in an upcoming Supreme Court Case on transgender rights.

Worst Moments
7. James Corden’s Opening Monologue
After five straight years of LL Cool J as Grammy host, many yearned for a change of flow. Unfortunately, it came via the flow of James Corden’s bars, a clunky set of eye roll-inducing clunkers and clichés (“With President Trump, we don’t know what comes next”) that made us brace for the worst. The new host eventually settled in — and provided some genuinely funny moments — but this was certainly not one of them.
8. Travolta Strikes Again
John Travolta has had some awkward awards show moments before. This one wasn’t quite as painful as Idina Menzel’s name at the 2014 Oscars, but hey, maybe not everyone’s cut out for presenting at major televised events. In introducing Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood’s performance, Travolta struggled with the TelePrompter, then stumbled to painful ice breakers: “I know what you’re thinking — where did he get all the bling he’s got on?” To be fair, he was wearing three chains, but viewers were more focused on trying to decipher the impenetrable comedic timing.
To cap it off, Urban and Underwood followed with one of the night’s most forgettable, charisma-lacking collaborations.
9. Poor Neil Diamond
About midway through the show, Corden went to the bread and butter — a little bit of Carpool Karaoke, Grammys edition. Out came Neil Diamond, followed by grab bag of other nearby stars — Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw and more. Unfortunately, a big part of karaoke is knowing the words to what you’re singing. Aside from Diamond himself, it seemed like no one inside Corden’s pretend car was very familiar with the verses to “Sweet Caroline.”
10. Pentatonix Performs a Motown Classic… for Some Reason
The Jackson 5’s “ABC” is a great song. Pentatonix can do really incredible things with a cappella. But the Grammys’ final-hour peak was not the time for it.

Exodus 15:19-17:7, Matthew 22:1-33, Psalms 27:1-6, Proverbs 6:20-26
Today is the 3rd day of February. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and its wonderful to be here with you today as we cross the threshold into a shiny and sparkly, new week. And this will be our first full week in the 2nd month of the year. And, as is our custom, we read from a new translation each week and this week will read from the Amplified Bible we’ll pick up where we left off yesterday, Exodus chapter 17 verse 8 through 19 verse 15.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for this brand-new week that we are entering into and this first full week of this second year or second month of February. We thank You God for bringing us this far. We thank You for all that You are speaking to us through Your word and all that You have yet to speak and all the ways that You are transforming us from within. We open ourselves to You fully. We announce, there's nothing off-limits to You, in fact we say this aloud, there's nothing off limits to You. We open ourselves fully to You. We trust You fully. Come Holy Spirit we pray into this coming week. We ask for Your guidance, Your counsel, Your protection, Your comfort, even Your rebuke if necessary. Come Holy Spirit we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is the website, its home base, its where you find out what’s going on around here. So, be sure to stay connected.
Let me also remind you about the other Daily Audio Bible channels that exist. Of course, this is the Daily Audio Bible. There’s also Daily Audio Bible Chronological going through the entire Bible in a year in chronological order, so, in the order that things happened in time. And China, my daughter, is leading that community over there. There’s also the Daily Audio Proverb, which goes through the book of Proverbs once each month. There’s 31 chapters in the book of Proverbs. And, man, I couldn't suggest that enough. It's like a five minute a day commitment but it's five minutes of wisdom of all the ages. It's the greatest wisdom that had been collected and this wisdom is thousands of years old. So, this is the wisdom that has stood the test of time. And I mean, I'm telling you, and you'll see this as we go forward, it's already happened, but we’ll see it often, just a verse of Proverbs can speak volumes to a situation or to a posture of heart that we’re holding. So, poring that continually over and over and over into your life…I mean…that's a way to get wise. And, so, it's worth it. There’s also the Daily Audio Bible Psalm. And that takes like two minutes but it moves back through the Psalms, just like what we’re doing here on the Daily Audio Bible but it serves as a reminder of comfort. The Psalms are so beautiful and they speak so deeply to our humanity. So, those resources are available as well as Daily Audio Bible kids. So, going through the New Testament for kids by kids in a year. Then if English is not your native tongue, there’s Daily Audio Bible and En Español. So, the Spanish team going through the entire Bible just like we do at Daily Audio Bible, only in Spanish. And they also have Proverbios and Pslamos, Psalms and Proverb just like we do in English. There’s Daily Audio Bible Japanese, Daily Audio Bible Arabic, French and the French team also has Psalms and Proverbs and then there’s Portuguese and Chinese. So, you may want to check out those channels or let a native speaker know that these resources are available.
If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, you can do that at dailyaudiobible.com. There is a link, it lives on the homepage. Thank you profoundly for your partnership. If you’re using the Daily Audio Bible app, you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner or, if you prefer, the mailing address is PO Box 1996 Spring Hill Tennessee 37174.
And, as always, if you have a prayer request or comment, 877-942-4253 is the number to dial.
And that's it for today. I'm Brian I love you and I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow.
Community Prayer and Praise:
Hi DAB family, this is to give you an update on Bill Berryman. I had contact with Bill the last time at the beginning of 2018. He’d sent me a message asking me how I was doing and told me that he had some medical problems, that he was at home. He told me a little bit about his boys, how much he missed his boys and just asked for continued prayers. And since then I haven’t heard anything from him, but we do have a mutual friend and that friend contacted me a couple weeks ago to let me know that Bill is, yeah, he has dementia. His memory is not all there. He has a little bouts here and there that he remembers the boys in Africa. But as many of you know how dementia works, his memory is just, it’s going unfortunately and he’s now in a permanent home. I don’t know if he has biological children. I know that he loved his boys, him and his wife. His wife passed away some years ago. So, for all of you that have called in while he may not mentally know it, God knows that we are all praying for him. You can find him on Facebook. If you’ve written him don’t be surprised that he’s not written back. He doesn’t have the capacity anymore. So, let’s just continue to lift our brother Bill Berryman up in prayer. And I personally thank everyone of you who have asked about him and continue to pray for him. It’s amazing thing in this community when people come in and have no idea of the family that they are adopting in Christ the Lord. So, I want to thank you all also for continuing to pray for me and my family. Brian and the entire Hardin family, everyone behind the scenes that make this happen, thank you. I can’t believe it’s going on 13 years. It’s changed my life, it continues to change my life. I thank you all who have been praying for me and a second baby G, but more important, that God just continue to be first in my life. I love you all. Continue to keep your eyes on the Lord. Cheers. Asia…
Hi, my name is Kay calling from sunny Southern California. I just wanted to call in and lift up Brian and his family in prayer. I am so thankful for coming across this podcast. It has been so beneficial for me at this time of my life. The word is so important and it’s so important for me and everyone to be filled with God’s word and this is…it’s important to me because I’m a blind. And, so, this is a good opportunity for me to get the word. And I have other health issues too. And I’m just so thankful to God that he put Brian and China in my path to receive the word every day. I can rephrase the word now and it is so beautiful to have that opportunity, so wonderful and I’m thankful to God and I pray that God continues to bless Brian and his family for being so faithful to what they’re doing. And I’m new to DAB. This just…I started on October…
Good morning DABbers, this is Walta from Charlotte, I’m a Burning Bush that will not be Devoured for the Glory of our God and King. I just heard sister Angela calling from California about thoughts been going through her mind and works in her head and just the suicidal…she’s battling suicidal thoughts. And, so, I want to tell you, today is the 28th January. I’m actually listening to the 24th today and I don’t believe it’s by mistake because for those…Angela, I want you to know I’m praying for you…but I also want to share for all those who think you’re running behind on listening to the DAB and sometimes you want to skip the prayers, don’t skip the prayers because God is intentionally allowing you to listen on that particular day. So, four days ago or whenever it was, somebody listened to her prayer and prayed for her and then the day after somebody else is going to be listening to the 24th and they’ll listen to Angela’s prayer and they’ll pray for her. And today Angela, I am covering you with the blood of Jesus. And I come against and every attack of the enemy on your life. You are chosen. You are chosen by God and the fact that you called and is indeed a miracle because you are not the only person struggling with suicidal thoughts. There are other people listening who are struggling with the same things and it makes it even harder for them because they feel like they’re the only person on the planet struggling with it. So, as Brian always says, “well done for calling in.” And I cover you with the blood of Jesus, I cover your family right now. There is no problem too big or too small for God to solve. I speak life over you in the name of Jesus. Father God, I pour the oil of joy over her. I speak from the top of her head to the soles of her feet. Father God, you pour Your oil and anointing upon your daughter right now in the name of Jesus. You are covered, you are loved Angela. I will pray for you every day. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Love you guys.
Hi, this is Joanne of Happy Valley with a prayer request. I’m currently reading Brian’s book Passages, which talks about how DAB came to be, and I am on page 145 where we’re talking about God’s love and he says, “__ in this profound aspect of Gods story. God truly and deeply loves you.” And here’s my response. Dear Lord, help me. I can’t do this myself. I’ve never experienced love I could trust. My parents abandoned me by dying. I took my children’s love for granted and ended up putting them in harm’s way even though in a broken I loved them, and I loved my grandchildren. I am uncomfortable with the concept of love and just can’t comprehend your loving me Lord. Please help me. That it. Thanks. Love you all in my own broken way. Signing off now. Bye.
Hello this is the Norwegian from North Dakota calling in. I’ve been listening to Daily Audio Bible for about six years. Mike called in the other day from London and he challenged us and said, “pray, lean on God, God takes care of all those things and God’s prayers don’t go unanswered” and he said, “be patient”. And I want to address Grace, who was aired on January 13th. Grace, you talked about up poor marriage and had a hard time getting along I want to first give you my email, [email protected]. I understand poor marriage, hard getting along. I had 35 years of it Grace. And three years ago we had a breakthrough and I want to talk to you, I want to encourage you, I want to let you know that I heard what you had to say and I want to talk to women out there totally. This is when my turnaround point came. My husband said to me one day, get this lady’s, listen, “I’m tired of you saying things to me to intentionally make me feel stupid.” Ouch. Big time. Hard spiritual spanking that I got from God. Oh, I couldn’t sit for a long time and I know you’re not pointing fingers at me because there’s 55,000 of you women out there that have been possibly saying things to make your husbands feel stupid. And that’s what we’re going to stop doing because God’s not pleased with that. Praise God and I know that Jill does not do that otherwise Brian couldn’t come on the air and do such a phenomenal job. So, God has convicted me a that, our marriage has turned around, and I’m excited. And grace, I pray that you’ll have time to call me or email me and that we can connect. And last thing I want to say is, I’m so thankful for this ministry. I write in my journal every day, I love the teas, I love listening to everybody and I thank you, thank you, thank you for what you’re all doing. Amen. Let’s go for…
My beautiful family, this is Pastor Gene from Bradenton Florida. Before I came to the United States I practiced law in Panama, my country of national origin, for eight years. When I graduated law school I majored in international law and one of the __ topics of interest in international law was preemptive strikes. And Preemptive strikes are when you know when a country claims that an attack is imminent, and they attack first because they know it’s only a matter of time before the enemy attacks them. So, they are preemptive, they preemptively strike their enemies. I bring this up because I’m feeling this sense of urgency as I pray for so many of our families and I want to encourage you today whether your husband a wife or a child a brother or sister to launch a preemptive attack against the enemy of our souls. Family, let’s not wait for our marriage to be about to end up in divorce, let’s not wait to see our kids suffering or bothers are sisters. Let’s not wait for those of us that are already in those situations. There’s absolutely nothing we can do but fight on our knees and trust God to bring a resolution to the situation. So, for those of us that are experiencing a period of peace and comfort, let’s face it family, it’s not going to stay that way if we are not careful. We need to preemptively attack, and we do that by praying with our Father. We do that by having kindness and attention towards our __ . We do that by __ and writing love notes and being kind and spending time together and spending time on our needs together and opening the word and speaking to our kids and being respectful. Let’s preemptively attack the enemy before it’s too late. I love you family. Pastor Gene from Bradenton Florida. Bye.
