surprisingly, an embarrassed 'oh, fuck' was not at the forefront of his mind. it was, instead, an overwhelming feeling that he had done something wrong and was being exposed (similar to when an indigo member would walk into his room unannounced and he had to close his laptop, fast).
yehyun stood up, dusting off his dustless shirt. "no, uh, i'm sorry," for all he knew, he could have been singing the song entirely wrong (although it didn't feel wrong). he was singing with his heart and didn't pay much mind to original adlibs; he was simply fucking around. fucking around with a company senior's song -- now the embarrassment was settling in.
"is this," his hands waved towards the empty space. "is this room yours?" he swore this was meant for indigo's pre-rehearsal, but who really knew. yehyun was known to get times and places mixed up.
he tilted his cap upward, making it so his eyes weren't hidden by the brim, "it's a really great song, by the way." he could have probably talked for an hour about the intricacies in the lyrics, the producing, every little detail that was stitched perfectly into the melody, chorus, you name it. but he stopped himself there.
"how are you, uh, enjoying chicago?" where that question came from, he, too, did not know. perhaps it was the echoing hardwood flooring that made the space between both him and her so much more empty, creating a gap he needed to fill.
Interrupting had never been her intention, she had never wanted to make him feel uncomfortable as she had obviously done. The soloist had been just curious, and maybe she should have knocked before walking in like she owned the place, but then she wouldn't have listened to him singing. Now, that would have been quite a loss.
"Why are you sorry?" It was flattering that people liked her songs enough to sing them with such emotion that had her heart clenching tight, making her chest feel too small to contain it with each breath she took. For a moment, he had made it his, and that was the beauty of music - people could express themselves through it, walls completely down, the world forgotten if only for as long as the melody kept playing.
Seonhwa shook her head as she walked closer, looking around. "No, mine is the next door. I'm sorry. I heard you singing my song and I couldn't help myself." Which had probably been rude. The singer probably hadn't meant for anyone to listen to him, and she had just done whatever she wanted, as usual.
Oh. The corner of her lips tugged into a sweet smile, always in awe that others appreciated the words she wrote when it really all came from her heart, and sometimes they didn't even make sense to her, so why would to other? INVU had meant everything to her - it was an album, a song, that she had worked hard on for months, as therapy and a way to move on from something that was rooted deeply within her heart. "Thank you. I really enjoyed listening to you. I have to confess that I had never listened to a cover until today."
The soloist leaned against a wall, hands behind her back, as she looked at the taller idol. "Chicago is nice. I admit that it's more interesting than other cities we have visited lately." Not to say they had been boring, but they had and Seonhwa was glad that they were finally going to better places. "And you? There is a lot to do here, it's been busy." When she wasn't practicing, of course. "You know, when I wrote INVU, I wasn't planning to release it." → @myhyun

It had taken her months and lots of traveling, but it had definitely been one of the positive sides of this tour. Nari had been trying to complete her Lego Architecture collection, and whilst it was nowhere near, she had managed to get plenty of sets that had been impossible to find in South Korea. If there was one that had been a pain to find, that was the Space Needle set, and what better place to find it than Seattle itself? So she made sure there was no schedule that day so she could take her time.
Because Nari was always lost in her own world and never actually paid much attention to anything else, checking the weather for the day had been the least of her worries. When it started raining as she didn't have a jacket, the dancer had no choice but to deal with how cold it was. Thankfully, the Uber stopped right outside the mall and she rushed inside, avoiding the rain as well as she could, but still slipping and almost failing a couple of times.
It was a real miracle when she managed to make it to the Lego store in one piece, and it was even better that there weren't too many people around. That gave her the chance to relax and look around without having to worry about being recognized. Just like she had done in Chicago when she had visited Legoland almost every day on her own, she hadn't told anyone that she was coming here.
Tunnel vision led her over to the shelf where many Architecture sets were, many she already had, but then there it was - the Space Needle set. It didn't matter if the sky was falling outside, if it was cold, or if she would be late for dinner back at the hotel. Nothing mattered because what she had been looking for was right there, and she was so happy she could dance right there. And she would, actually, if she weren't so shy and didn't like the attention on herself.
With a smile adorning her features, Nari reached out for the box and didn't even notice the person next to her until their hands touched as they both grabbed the box. She shivered. Had they suddenly turned on the air conditioner? A pout replaced her smile just as fast, looking up at the taller person, surprised at who she found right there. Nari would say she was a rational person, she mostly minded her business because it was easier. Oh, but this time? "That's mine," she said, a bit louder than her usual tone, but it still lacked force and it wavered a bit because, as mad as she was, she also wasn't? It was a confusing moment, but Nari was kind of a riddle herself. "You don't get rights just for being taller."
