As much as I hate romcoms, this would probably be one. We‘d be on a trip into the mountains for some reason, probably work (but we’re not directly colleagues, we just always work on the same projects, maybe I‘m there as an engineer and he’s with a marketing company, we want to turn the place into a wellness resort) and so we’re staying at this chateaux all up in the mountains and of course avoid each other as much as possible. But then the snowstorm hits, and we’re stuck. The whole shebang with power outage and all that stuff. And suddenly we’re forced to spend two weeks together, until enough snow has been removed to get us back down, and slowly we‘d get to know each other better and talk about our issues.

I hate him because I think he’s a shallow prick (maybe he reminds me of my ex as well) and he hates me because he thinks I’m an absolut bitch. Over time I learn that he’s into marketing because he dreams of bringing joy to people, and I like to appear cold and uninviting to protect myself, because I‘ve been hurt in the past. One night, as we lay in front of the fire and and have a thumb war, he tells me that he wants to open a dog shelter, and we fantasize about building one together. Everything finally seems to fall into place - until I overhear him calling someone and it sounds like he’s talking to a lover. Big fight ensues, „has this all just been fake? Do I mean nothing to you?“ „no, don’t even try to talk your way out of this and charm me again with your whole *gestures towards the entirety of him vaguely* spiel“ „you know what? You’re just like *ex*! I‘m glad that we’ll get out of here in two days. For the remainder of the time, I‘ll stay in my room and not talk to you“

That hurt. I know it hurt him, and I do feel sorry, I crossed a line and I know that. But I’m too proud to come for an apology now. And so the next night is the worst one yet. We both can’t sleep, always tossing and turning, both of us crying over the fight. So he gets up at the crack of dawn and makes me breakfast just the way I like it and prepares a tray for me. At first he wants to eat with me, but then he thinks I probably don’t want to see him, so he writes a letter explaining everything. How the person on the phone was his sister or something, how he’s so incredibly sorry, how he wants to spend the rest of his life with me but he understands if I don’t want to see him again. He arranges everything neatly, places the tray at my door, knocks and leaves. I of course am overwhelmed with his gesture of reconciliation and eat everything before reading the letter. While reading it, I tear up, and once I finish it I come running towards him. We make up and kiss while crying, then spend the rest of the day together being disgustingly cute.

When on the next day the snow finally has been removed enough for us to leave, there are reporters asking us about our time together and all that stuff and he, ever the media person, wants to reply, but I take the mic from him and say that I have a big announcement: we‘ll be turning the resort into a dog shelter. Wellness with puppies. At first everyone is shocked, and he looks at me with glossy eyes, asking if I’m for real, and when I say yes, he picks me up and swings me around, crying happy tears.
