SMELLS:   blood,  rusty  metal  on  a  bad  day.  otherwise,  she’s  carrying  the  scent  of  her  favourite  flower,  princessia.

DRINKS:   water,  and  she's  been  slurping  on  human  and  daemon  blood,  depending  of   her  mood

RANDOM HEADCANON:   usually,  during  the  night,  velvet  thinks  a  lot  about  what  happened  to  her  sister.  how  much  a  part  of  her  hated  the  village  she  grew  up  in.  they  did  nothing  to  rescue  celica,  in  fact  they  were  rather  content  to  have  found  a  sacrifice  to  use  to  save  their  skin.  and  for  that,  she’s  found  a  sick  satisfaction  regarding  the  village’s  downfall.  she  killed  the  very  people  (  minus  her  best  friend  )  who  treated  her  whole  family  (  and  brother-in-law  )  as  outsiders.  very  cathartic  revenge.

velvet  is  often  jealous  of  the  others ——  envious  of  the  life  they  have.  it’s  not  a  pretty  feeling,  she  knows  it.  but  sometimes  she  can’t  help  but  think,  why,  why  she  couldn’t  have  a  peaceful  life  with  her  parents.  with  her  siblings.  with  her  brother-in-law.  why  anyone  but  her  is  lucky  enough  to  enjoy  simple  things.  that’s  really  unfair.  but  it’s  not  their  fault.  only  hers.  even  though  she  did  nothing  wrong  to  deserve the  concatenation of misfortune  over  the  years.  still,  she  firmly  believe  that  somewhere,  she’s  at  fault.

what  if  velvet  has  been  a  bit  bullied  back  in  her  childhood ?  her  black  hair  and  amber  eyes  are  outstanding  and  it  was  confirmed  that  the  villagers  never  really  accepted  the  crowe  family.  whenever  somebody  mocked / tormented  laphi,  velvet  would  barge  in  and  punch  the  perpetrators.  insert  artorius  gasping  because  he  could  hear  the  kids  running  away,  holding  their  bleeding nose.  it's  where  he  decided  to  put  her  strength  and  courage  to  good  use  via  taking  her  as  his  apprentice.

i  hc  a  bit  the  crowe  parents  and,  let’s  just  say  that  the  father  was  a  shy  mess when  he  asked  his  future  wife  in  mariage.  the  biggest  important  moment  of  his  life.  he  offered  a  beautiful  bouquet  to  the  woman  and  in  the  middle  was  nestled  a  crow  egg.  “ i-i  birb  you !!  will  you  marry  me —— ? ”  and  to  this  day  she  never  let  him  live  it  down.

now  you  know  from  who  velvet  has  inherited  her  shyness.  she  might  flub  up  some  quotes  and  end  up  embarrassing  herself  but  surely  her  words  will  convey  the  right  emotions !

i  can  imagine  velvet  delivering  a  good  punch  in  the  face  if  the  situation  calls  for  it.  she’s  very  impulsive  and  has  little  to  no  self-control.  but  most  of  all,  she  did  it  for  a (  good  )  reason.  usually  she  aims  for  either  the  nose  or  the  jaw.

to  be  honest,   i  think  it’d  take  time  to  see  sorey  as  an  ally,  a  friend.  because  of  their  different  motives  and  point  of  view,   the  best  thing  she  could  do  right  now  is  a  truce.  she  doesn’t  need  to  have  another  shepherd  as  an  enemy,  and  a  young  one  on  top  of  that.  she  knows  he’s  a  not  a  kid.  you  can’t  be  treated  like  a  child  when  you’re  holding  a  sword  and  swore  to  protect  people  at  all  cost.  but  her  opinion  on  the  matter  is  : sorey  is  still  young,  innocent.  he  doesn’t  have  to  dirty  his  hands,  he  doesn’t  have  to  witness  and  pay  the  consequences  from  the  past,  her  and  artorius’  sins.

and  just  like  her,  he  made  his  decision.  to  what  he  think  it’s  the  best.  because  sorey  is  selfless  and  benevolent,  a  big  contrast  to  velvet’s  selfishness and  ambition.  but  they’re  two  sides  of  the  same  coin,  she  knows  it.  and  sorey  reminds  her  of  herself  when  she  was  young.  and  her  brother.  what  could  have  happened  if  wasteland  wasn’t  a  rotten  and  corrupted  land.  eventually,  she  will  slowly  but  surely  change  her  mind. physical  contacts  are  going  to  take  more  time  but  small  banters ?  yes.  velvet  listening  to  sorey’s  love  for  ruins  until  falling  asleep ?  sounds  fun !  and  in  turn  she  would  teach  him  her  own  recipes,  help  him  improving  his  fighting  skills.

now  on  the  sad  part.

i  think  sorey  would  find  some  kind  of  comfort  whenever  he’s  close  to  velvet ?  because  she’s  saw  so  much  things,  went  through  many  hardships.  of  course  she  knows  how  is  it  to  stay  strong  and  concealing  her  own  weaknesses. to  never  weep  or  show  your  true  visage.  because  you  have  a  role  to  uphold.  you  can’t  be  yourself  anymore,  you  have  lost  that  privilege  long  ago. that’s  why  she’d  reassure  sorey  and  tell  him  to  speak  with  his  words,  not  the  shepherd’s  he  can  drop  the  mask.  and  hers  too.  sharing  some  words  from  their  past,  from  their  upbringing  would  be  a  great  start.  to  see  that  they’re  not  that  different.  and  while  sorey  will  never  replace  her  little  brother’s,  she’d  protect  him  in  her  own  way.  from  the  harsh  truth.  from  a  possible  downfall.  she’s  scared  to  see  another  tragedy,  another  innocent  soul  taken  away  from  her.  to  somebody  she  came  to  care  and  who  saw  through  her  web  of  lies.

she  doesn’t  feel  shame  if  her  tears  are  falling  on  her  cheek.  not  when  sorey  is  around.  because  he’s  treating  her  as  a  woman.  not  a  daemon  /  therion.  or  lord  of  calamity.  just  velvet  crowe,   a  human.  and  she  would  do  the  same.  if  he  needs  to  cry,  to  vent  until  he  feels  better.  to  speak  about  his  bottled  feelings. 

if  the  circumstances  were  different,  if  they  met  differently  in  another  world,  they’d  have  been  great  friends.  they  still  can  be,  of  course.  although  there  will  still  have  a  small  undying  reticence  from  velvet.  to  not  be  hurt  again,  to  not  get  betrayed,  to  not  feel  her  heart  breaking  one  more  time.
