all right , i think i'm ready to publicly post this outline for Ani's new backstory. this will be relevant to both her main verse , her cult verse & her baldurs gate 3 verse ! of course , it'll be slightly different for each , but this is sort of the main formula.

- Aniela is a seraphim , an angel who helps guide those into the afterlife emotionally. Helping them be at peace , calming them & finally walking hand in hand with them to the threshold.

- Due to so much time spent with humans & dealing with emotions , she develops her own & she falls in love with a human ( Alek who is actually an ancient forgotten god , Aleksorath , who is the god of blood , death & darkness & has dominion over purgatory )

- While they are together, he's slowly siphoning her celestial aura & over time she feels like something is wrong , that she's getting weak.

- When she is weak enough , he captures her , revealing his plan to consume her heart & soul so that he can essentially get into heaven & hold dominion over that as well as purgatory & eventually , hell.

- Aniela convinces him that consuming her essence wouldn't be enough to get into heaven & that he'd actually need her with him physically.

- He strikes a deal with her : help him get into heaven & he will grant her freedom. If she breaks the deal , she would have to serve him for eternity. Of course , the first chance she gets , she escapes to warn heaven of his plan.

- However , because she broke Divine law ( falling in love with a human ) , she is cast from heaven , condemned to live as a selkie until judgement day , forever caught between sea & shore.

- She's given new powers , losing most of her celestial ones , save for a select few , which will essentially help her to keep helping people pass over.

- She spends several decades in the sea , avoiding Alek because she knows that she broke the deal & also knows that the sea is a domain he cannot reach. She spends this time rescuing people from drowning / shipwreck / etc.

- After nearly a century , Aniela surfaces , only to be restrained by chains of darkness that drain her of any magic. Alek appears & after some negotiating , strikes another deal with her. He gives her the ability to roam free , however , he takes her soul. 10,000 souls she must send to purgatory in order to get her soul back , no matter how long it takes.

- Ani agrees , but she cannot possibly fathom killing anyone so she spends her existence saving people instead. Because is it really so terrible to live without a soul?

- Alek just *lets* her do this because they're both immortal , he has all the time in the world , but eventually he may start raising the stakes , such as each year she must have a certain amount of souls or he'll take her sealskin.

Aisha is definitely my funniest /most unserious muse. She has zero solid principles in life except 'the vibes' - even her job isn't really a job, it's her just vibing. She's very out of touch with reality and genuinely convinced that she's a philanthropist or saving the world, when the extent of her 'activism' is just her donating money or posting some infographics to her ig story. Aisha's idea of working is posting a link about donating to relief funds, and then being like "wow I'm just really making a big difference and changing the world". Then would proceed to charter a jet to go to some boujee foreign rave immediately after LOL

She also definitely just talks about things just to talk, even if she doesn't necessarily believe it. Lives in delusion constantly but completely believes it. I'd say she's a nice person but definitely misguided and has a mind that's easily swayed.

Tbh a lot of this comes from being raised / stressed to follow a specific path that her parents wanted her too, but in her teens she just said fuck it and went off the rails. For a while she didn't feel like she knew who she 'really' was without her parents guidance. So she's really just goes with whatever she feels. It doesn't help that she's born into a billionaire family that only adds to her being out of touch and not getting how things really work. Her behaviour stresses out her little sister to the max

It's very on brand for me to use a sculpture to depict Ani's body type , but truthfully , this is literally the closest thing I've ever seen to how I envision Ani's body type. In fact , I think I'll reference this post for future interactions for this type of thing. I'm actually quite thrilled about finding this & squealing a little bit about it. I've been thinking about Gemma's avoidant behaviour regarding romantic relationships and why it's generally a mess-

Deep down she has a very push and pull perspective on relationships. On one hand she's very codependent; all her life she's been babied and given lots of attention from her family. She's so used to always being around people who love her unconditionally - she loves attention and being adored. Since her career requires her to travel she likes to keep established situationships and fwbs in her back pocket (in different cities) so she feels secure. In situationships she does fall for them half the time, but that's quickly met with her making excuses or pushing them away. The other half of the time she seeks out emotionally unavailable people or just complete douchebags to make it easier

Now her hesitation to establish those situationships into exclusive relationships - on the surface she likes to blame her career. She knows it's not something she can easily sustain. On a deeper level? There's some low level trauma attached to that and it's connected to her mother's death. (could write a whole dissertation on how their mother's death messed them up individually but that's something else entirely) While her older sister was trying to pick up the pieces and her older brother was going through his own depressive period, Gemma was the only one who really focused on how broken their dad was after losing the love of his life. Of course she was grieving her mother as well, but when thinking about love she always hones into that moment and the idea of deep attachment followed by loss really makes her hesitate pursuing anything.

And on a lesser level... she did have a serious relationship once. Senior year of high school, a private school power couple with a gorgeous star athlete who broke her heart. That made her very much "got my heart broken once and never recovered" meme lol

Despite everything she does want a genuine ~ true love ~ lowkey and it would be nice to write her in a relationship, working through her complicated psyche.

Ani isn't afraid of monsters or monster-like creatures. In fact , more often than not , she will try to befriend them.

and two that cover her feet for modesty

her entire color palette is marble white : her skin is marble white , her hair , her eyes her wings , but there is a blue and silver sheen over her & iridescent glow to her wings

her voice when she speaks in this form , sounds like a three - part dissonant harmony.

she is huge. like , 15 feet tall. of course , she can change that.

something that i wanted to elaborate on , since i'm starting to develop a few more ships & such & i've been being such a silly willy on the dash , i haven't really gone over this too much , but : i know i've been sending smooches & ani's been getting smooches , but timeline wise , any sort of touching wouldn't even happen until after a lot of time being spent together. ani has a severe aversion to touch , due to trauma & this extends one way or another across all of her verses. the only time she doesn't seem to mind touching another person is when she's saving someone's life. in fact , upon first meeting & spending time with her , she will remain a short distance away from someone & she flinches at sudden movements. however , it just takes a lot of patience & time to build trust with her & eventually , she'll become more used to touch & she'll start asking for it , because in actuality , she's so touch starved that once she gets over the fear of it , she starts wanting it.
