Last year's semi-finalists Ajax clung to a tense 0-0 tie blow in heat to APOEL Nicosia in the first leg of their Champions League play-off draw on Tuesday

Slavia Prague won 1-0 in Cluj of Romania thanks to a great Lukas Masopust goal in another band that the winners earn a lucrative place in the Champions League group stage, while Club Brugge also won with a single goal at LASK Linz in Austria.

Ajax has managed to keep most of the team of last season together, with Matthijs van Ligt and Frenkie de Jong the only major divisions, and fought seven of the players who won the second leg of May started their dramatic semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Slavia broke the deadlock in Romania with a remarkable goal when Nicolae Stanciu drove the corner of the Masopust penalty area to effortlessly volley into the net.

Club Brugge celebrates with their fans after their 1-0 victory over LASK Linz on Tuesday evening

An early penalty from Hans Vanaken gave Bruges the victory to Austrian outsiders LASK Linz who bid to qualify for the first stage group.

Lois Openda was challenged by Linz captain Gernot Trauner and the referee pointed to the spot and finally confirmed his decision two minutes later after a long VAR assessment.

Bruges survived a letdown when Simon Deli almost turned the ball into his own net, although the Belgians could easily have added to their count in the second half.

HISTORY !

born thirteen minutes before his twin sister, lucas comes into the world on a hot summer's night to two young parents who are barely making ends meet. his parents did work hard to give their kids the best life possible, often leaving luca and his twin at their grandparents' until they were old enough to stay by themselves. luca still visited his grandparents every weekend, preferring the quiet of their house over the bustling city.

everything changed when felipie got a job in new york, a higher paying job he simply couldn't refuse. so the souza family packed up and immigrated to new york when luca was 15. there he met his best friend, a boy who would would change his life.

falling for his best guy friend was not in the cards, but it's what ended up happening. luca tried to push his feelings to the side, eventually breaking down to his parents that he was gay. they didn't seem to really care, going back to normal routine and never talking about it again.

in college he met his next best friend, a girl who would later become his beard and closest confident. they "dated" for a couple of years, eventually getting a marriage of convinence. it was solely to get his family off his back about settling down without having to come out to all of them and experiencing the disappointment again. but his "wife" eventually got him to admit that he was gay, encouraging him to live the way he deserved to. the two have since gotten divorced, but remain close to this day.

after college, luca got a job at blushing blooms working his way from cashier to florist in just a few short years. flower arranging had always brought him joy growing up, so he decided to make a career out of it.

3 years ago, he met the love of his life, winter donovan, at a conference. they've been together since then, recently moving in together. this time, luca's got a ring hidden away in a sock drawer for a marriage that he plans to make last for a while.

ex best-friend/first love: luca and this muse went to high school together, growing closer and closer until luca developed a crush on him (whether or not it was mutual is up to you). luca freaked out about being gay and they really haven't spoken since then.

ex wife/beard: after attempting to come out to his parents, he dated (and later got engaged to) this muse to try to appease his parents. she knew he was gay, but didn't seem to mind. (it would be kind of cool if she were also queer and hiding from her own family).
