Animals of all shapes and sizes had a tendency to gravitate to Silver. Gallant stags, flocks of birds, families of chipmunks and bunnies, delicate dragonflies... The entire forest seemed to stir and come alive with activity whenever he passed.

It always made your outings together... interesting.

You stretched your arms out to the sky--then brought your hands down to cushion the back of your head as you laid at the base of a tree. Beneath the shade, the shadows provided cool respite from the searing sun. A few stray rays of golden sunshine spilled through crevices in the leaves, forming pleasant pockets of warmth.

"Looks like you're Mr. Popular.” Your gaze sliding over to the young man kneeling beside you.

Today, Silver was haloed by butterflies. Their gossamer wings—set in various hues and patterns—splayed out in fragile waves. At once, they shared the rhythm of a frantic heartbeat and the illusion of rippling stained glass. Speckles and starlight inlaid each wing as they fluttered about.

“They come of their own accord.” Silver lifted a hand, and a bright monarch landed upon his index finger. “I’m not sure what they see in me.”

“Do you ever think about asking them that?” you wondered out loud. “What sorts of things do you think they’d say to you if they could speak their thoughts?”

The knight offered a shy smile. “Those would be questions reserved for the most advanced students of animal languages.”

“I bet they’d gush about how cool and handsome you are.”

Silver quickly glanced away. There was a small break in his collected visage as a faint blush formed on his cheeks. “... Maybe.”

You giggled, delighting in his adorable reaction. “Hey, what do you think they’d say about m... e-eep!!”

A strong gust suddenly kicked up, sending the wind whistling through your hair—and Silver’s. The leaves overhead rattled about, throwing sunshine in various directions. And the butterflies bursted, scattering like shards of iridescent glass to the sky.

The world was set awash in a myriad of fragmented dreams. It was a kaleidoscope of moving colors and irregular shapes, painted from the winged insects. Cotton candy one moment, sunset the next, and then a frozen tundra.

“Whoa...” Your eyes widened, jaw hanging agape at the stunning sight. “It’s so beautiful...!”

Silver stared, too, his aurora gaze transfixed on the ever-shifting sky and the butterflies strewn into it. Beautiful, beautiful...

“It reminds me of you,” he murmured absentmindedly.

“H-Huh?” You sat up abruptly, your cheeks flaring with heat. He wasn’t supposed to be the one to make me flustered! “You think I’m...?”

Silver chuckled—and it was the sort that reminded you of bells ringing on a dainty spring breeze. He laid a hand over his abdomen and flashed an awkward grin. “It’s the feeling I have when I see you.”
