sam nodded her head. she hated group projects more than anything. she was always the kind of person who wanted to do the brunt of the work because the group she got paired with wouldn't be caught doing all of the work and she was just worried about it all getting done. it was hard to think about comparing how that was with woohp. "who would you dress up as?" sam asked. "i fluctuated between superheros and a couple of famous women," she shook her head, "don't laugh, but like...marie curie type costumes. i was kind of a nerd." kind of only brushed the surface. she was still a bit of a nerd. but she embraced that side of her. "or coco chanel." sam had a plethora of costumes as a kid that she went through. but she was definitely that nerd that went as both fictional and famous women. "oh, well, sure. those kinds of reviewers bring friends. but the editorial ones don't always, cause they're trying to be a bit more hidden and anonymous."
◟ ★ ⊰ " that's definitely not something i'll ever miss, " she agreed with a laugh. there was always one person who inevitably wound up doing most of the work, and another who contributed absolutely nothing yet still expected to be graded with everyone else. it was frustrating to say the least. she at least always did her fair share, even if she complained. " it totally is. i used to love dressing up as super heroes for halloween when i was younger. " clover felt like she was already forming a great friendship with the girl, and she was pleased with that. " even people who do reviews bring friends. usually, it's just another friend who does reviews so they don't get bitched at for taking forever to take pictures and slow down their eating. "

while she trusted clover, the blonde standing before her didn’t quite understand the depths of the trust that she had for her. how did she know that she trusted her? for her friend, their friendship was still so new. whereas for sam, it spanned their entire lives practically. so while clover’s comment was possibly harsh, sam knew that she hadn’t meant it in the worst way. she wasn’t mandy. “i think that i could possibly deal with that.” sam agreed with a shrug of her shoulders. she wondered if clover here was the same as clover home when it came to shopping—she wondered if shopping was totally different back home than it was here. styles seemed to be different at least. “but i don’t think i need a total movie makeover montage.”
◟ ⋆ ❛ running her mouth was one of her greatest talents , really . it didn't even take any effort on her part , either . she put more thought into shutting it than opening it most days . she felt bad when she said something mildly insulting , because she didn't want to hurt most people's feelings . only some people were deserving of that . sam was not one of them . clover nodded , a small smile thrown in sam's direction . “ exactly . sprucing things up never hurt anyone before . promise . ”

sam nodded her head. she knew for a fact that clover was great both alone and in the team -- her team. she didn't feel complete without her by her side. but that was totally different. "though, i'm glad to not have to deal with school projects any longer, being paired with certain people made team work such a drag." sam joked, shaking her head at the thought. particularly mandy came to her mind. she laughed at clover's comment. "right? i mean, the wardrobe alone is kind of to die for." except when you're the one getting in and out of it. but sam didn't want to say that. how could she even begin to explain that? she took a seat at the table the hostess led them too and looked at her friend with a nod of her head. "sometimes i get it, if it's like your job or something, y'know...people do reviews but otherwise it seems so lonely."
◟ ★ ⊰ " i can understand that, " she said, nodding. " i think i'm great alone, and in a team. " she could be pretty flexible when it came to certain things. she had been in many different situations in life, so she was pretty well equipped for pretty much anything, really. " mmm .... you're not wrong about that. sometimes, it's even sexy. you know, men in tights being super heroes and all, " clover said, grinning. she didn't always have much of a filter, and she didn't like putting one on to please others. " yeah, being alone in a restaurant is totally such a sad look. i don't know why some people do it willingly. "

"i hope so, my friends are pretty smart themselves but i think we work better as a team." sam said with a nod of her head, a light smile on her face. she wondered if she could ever go back to working for woohp's offices. she hadn't heard a thing from them since she was here. but who's to say that meant anything. "heroic is a good look, every once in a while at least. it's like they say, a good deed can be good for you too." sam shrugged her shoulders as she followed when the hostess gestured for the two of them to follow her. she laughed and nodded her head, "see you get it. i'd be totally embarrassed. it would be humiliation."
◟ ★ ⊰ " well, you seem smart enough, so i'm sure you're right. " she couldn't think of anything else to say to the girl in that moment. clover hadn't really ever been stood up by a friend before, so she couldn't relate. she shrugged, throwing a small smile in sam's direction. " what can i say ? i guess i'm feeling heroic today. " she joked. she stood beside sam patiently, listening for anything else the girl wanted to say. " no need to thank me or anything, really. i don't mind. i couldn't let you sit alone in here ... that'd just be embarrassing. "

sam smiled, "i think she'll come to her senses." it was weird talking about a friend when the person she was talking about was practically right in front of her. but, how else was she going to explain this whole situation to her? sure, she may have made plans with someone else but this was really just about the fact that one of her best friends just forgot that she existed. "thanks for saving my butt, clover." she said with a light laugh, walking over and telling her name to the hostess, waiting for them to be seated. "i really appreciate it."
◟ ★ ⊰ she didn’t typically hang out with complete strangers, but she could make exceptions to her own rules. the girl seemed relatively harmless, so she was okay with hanging out. besides, she loved the food at this place, so why pass up on the opportunity? “ hopefully she apologizes for being a bad friend, ” clover said, frowning slightly. she didn’t like cancellations, especially ones that came without any sort of notice. she felt bad for the other, really. she’d do her best to ensure that sam had a good day. “ nice to meet you sam. i’m clover. ”

sam wished that she could just explain to clover that she was making up a story. that in reality, her best friend was standing in front of her and just forgot that she existed. sam wanted to scream, but how could she -- was it even clover's fault that any of this was happening? "yeah, she should at least do that. i'll be sure to remind her next time i talk to her." which would be...well, she didn't know exactly when it would be that her friends would remember that they were her friends. but sam was determined nevertheless to get back into being friends with them one way or another. "exactly my thought." she nodded her head. "i'm sam, by the way." why was it so weird introducing herself to clover?
◟ ★ ⊰ clover felt a little bad for the girl. she was clearly upset about the friend in question who'd ditched her without second thought. while she didn't think of herself as the most comforting person out there, she knew how to at least be a good friend. she might not have known the girl, but she could try to be her friend. " exactly, " clover agreed with a small nod. " screw her if she doesn't give you a heads up before not showing up, " she stated. she didn't necessarily have any specific plans that day, so she supposed she could keep the sad girl some company. " sure, i can join you. why let a reservation go to waste, right ? "

sam nodded her head in agreement. she still wondered if woohp was out there trying to get in touch with her and simply couldn't because this place was protected by some sort of energy field--not that she couldn't leave but it was just a minefield of it's own creation. "right? i don't even want to bother reaching out, though. what's the point if she didn't try." sam shrugged her shoulders, going on with her whole ruse of being left alone at this place. which, technically she was. just, not in the way clover would be thinking. "any chance you'd want to join me so i don't look pathetic waking in to this cafe with a reservation for two?"
◟ ★ ⊰ clover glanced back down at her phone as it vibrated repeatedly in her hand, her ex fling not too thrilled with the earful she'd given him before hanging up. she muted her phone and turned her attention back to the girl in question. " oh, well i'm sorry about that. some people can just be so inconsiderate, " she said, shaking he head. " the least your friend could've done was give you a heads up. it drives me crazy when you make plans and someone doesn't let you know they can't follow through, " she stated.

if she couldn't get clover's attention while she was on the phone, perhaps she wasn't clover to begin with. but while she stood there listening, she realized no that certainly was clover. "sorry, i just..." sam paused. how was she supposed to even bring this sort of thing up to her best friend when her best friend didn't realize who she was? "i thought you were somebody else. a friend i was meeting here, but i guess they flaked on me and didn't bother to send me a message." sam sighed, shaking her head.

◟ ★ ⊰ she'd just finished having a rather unpleasant phone call with a former fling, and she'd not bothered taking into consideration the fact that she was in public and could be overheard by anyone passing by. in the moment, clover just didn't care. she was at her wits end, and she needed to get a message across. she'd barely paid any mind to the person who had seemingly been trying to catch her attention before the call. once she finally hung up and took a deep breath, she turned to the other. " some people just don't know how to listen. --- sorry. was there something i could help you with ? "

sam knew that clover was a bit foot in the mouth sometimes. they all could be. but she still loved her friend. even if right at that moment, her friend didn't know who she was. it was fine, she was doing her best. and they were friends again. if not the same way that they had been growing up back in california. maybe some day. "spruce things up." she repeated. "i can do sprucing." sam said with a slight nod of her head. why was she suddenly afraid?
◟ ⋆ ❛ sometimes , she just opened her mouth without thinking . it was something clover was trying to work on . progress didn't always come easily , though . clover laughed , nodding slightly at sam's concerns . “ no , no . it's definitely not an entire wardrobe malfunction , i promise . there's no need to panic over that . we just need to . . . spruce things up a little , you know ? ”

maybe it didn't help that she felt like she was from a different time than whenever they were in now. but she wasn't entirely certain, and didn't know if she should check out the theory. but sam was just doing her best here. "okay, well, i'll hold back my offense if you promise it's not like a whole wardrobe malfunction kind of situation thing." sam replied, looking at clover concerned.
◟ ⋆ ❛ she felt a little bad , considering the fact that she didn't want to hurt her new friends feelings , but her own opinions had come out before she could stop herself . “ well . . . ” she began , taking a few moments to at least consider what she should say . “ maybe just a little bit of help . not a lot. ”

"i'm not exactly sure if i need fashion advice." sam said with a slight shrug, looking at clover and then looking back at herself and down at her wardrobe. "unless...are you implying that i need some help?"
