like the day she’d been brought to the fae realm, lux’s senses were overwhelmed and she was alone. fear was no stranger to the former human, but stars was it simmering out of her at a pace she wasn’t even sure how to manage. the fates must have had the smallest pity on her, she woke in a bed that was not her own but at least she were not outside. slowly, the newly made fae her way out of the room, and her senses determined she were within a new palace. confusion climbed alongside her fear, and when she heard movement it was lucky her fire had not returned in full force. gasping, turning, lux places her hand over her heart to still the rhythm. “ what is this place ? ” // @ofcourtfablesarchive

lux often wondered when she would cross someone that wished to inquire on every part of her past. question too many things that drew her into a defensive state of mind. when it never came, she'd learned to relax in autumn. dropping more and more bits of her past seemed to come naturally, some secrets she would hold to her heart, others weren't so painful to speak of. " i certainly did that in regards to my family. " admits she softly. at his question, lux pauses, mind drifting to her family and picturing their last dinner together. it had been a fine night, the last time she would see her parents and most of her siblings. she'd not known it then, perhaps lux would have taken more time to remember every detail rather than the blur of it blending with most other family dinners. " it's not as difficult to talk about my former life as time passes, but you are not prying into that which i would not wish to speak on. not entirely, at least. " she says softly. " my family have no clue, they likely think i ran away. in truth, i hope they imagine me happy in some further kingdom as they knew i was never happy.. at home. " she nearly admitted to not being happy in their own castle, but lux's practiced words were slower when she was trying to keep her secrets. " i couldn't bare the idea of visiting them after, tales of fae are not told in kind in my world. " adds the former human.
Suho had never pressed on her history, how things had come to be, mostly because he was not one to intrude into others as much as he liked people staying outside his own private matters. he had never asked much of her or about her, not because he did not care, but because he respected her boundaries and figured she would speak of it if she wished to. "that's understandable, sometimes we take for granted what is in our reach simply because it has always been there. we forget the value," his own siblings often ran him up a wall, but he could never, not even in their darkest moments, picture a life completely clean from them. even if sometimes he had wished it in anger and frustration, he had never meant it. "do they know? what happened to you and where you went?" the question rolls of his mouth before he can truly stop it. a bit ashamed of himself he is quick to add. "if i am prying, if you do not wish to speak of this, please don't hesitate to shut me down. i am merely curios and with the need of distraction i am feeling a bit more daring." he gives a gentle, almost not there, shrug.

for a rare moment in prythian, lux was enjoying herself. a vision of the human girl she'd left behind, the fire haired fae was dancing to the music, laughing, and twirling with any who would enjoy her company. she'd passed through vendors, sampled wines, and found a favorite she now wished to covet. fae wine was such a strong thing, and perhaps the made creature had partaken too much, but she felt she deserved a time to relax and enjoy herself. prythian had not been a place for her to do so thus far. twinkling laughter as a dusk femme fae spins her, lux is hardly expecting to be spun into someone. a gasp flies from her lips as she stumbles back, and quickly the former human pushes back her mess of a mane to face the body she'd collided with. only the face accompanying it was one she'd been so aptly avoiding, and one that had the ability to suck the joyful and light mood she'd been experiencing only moments prior. " saint. " tone dry, dead even, he's the last fae she wishes to see, and lux refuses to address him by title on principle. // @shvdwscng

" and what are you supposed to be ? " teases the redhead when she easily finds her best friend. a sibling she'd needed, lux could never thank hudson enough for all that they had done for her. she also could not help but gaze about, see if the autumn lord was near. " and where is your date ? " comes the words only a younger sister could offer, playful grin across her lips. // @jadedblud

lux was overwhelmed, and she didn’t quite know how to hide it perfectly. only five years as a fae, and she felt she had centuries of growth ahead of her. the pointed ears still shocked her when touched, and anytime she made fire it was both thrilling and terrifying. she’d been thrown into the cauldron and came out something else entirely, a mirror version of the human she was. a symbol of a broken treaty, something people detested. her best bet was to not seem different, but it was quite difficult when her senses were on overdrive in a new place. in her thoughts, the dreamer completely missed another’s voice, and blinked before glancing over. “ sorry, were you speaking ? i was a bit distracted by this incredible view. ” an excuse.

lux wondered if she might ever learn to embrace her new being, stop feeling so awkward in her own skin. once such a confident human, she was so terribly awkward as a fae. perhaps in time she might lose that, remember more of herself and worry less that everyone could tell that she was different. hudson didn’t make her feel so awkward, and she valued their friendship more than she could even begin to explain. lux was lucky, where she did not have the person who brought her into prythian, she had gained new friendships that ensured the once human was not so lost after all. “ i doubt they could stay mad at you, just offer a grin. ” she teases, nudging him in the arm. lux had learned quickly not to touch an illyrian’s wings, so she stayed completely clear of those. her nose wrinkles, a very common expression for the new fae. “ both, i suppose. ” even if she knew how foolish it was to hope others looking her way would just disappear. much was likely in her head.
hudson hadn't seen many cauldron made fae's in his ( compared to some ) short lifetime, but when he had seen them they had been awkward in their ways. he knew it came easily to him since he was born fae and had not known any other way but with lux he could not imagine the terror and confusion she felt. but one would only know she was made if they truly looked at her, she was impressive. and hudson had to hand it to her, she was a quick study and learner. he chuckled at her words. "i do not think our high ruler would agree," he joked. and it felt good that he had someone to joke with. and willing to be a friend, even if it was a new friendship. he knew what she was talking about without her having to say her. they sighed and looked to her. "the looks from others? or the feeling?"

traipsing around the city she’d never seen wasn’t as hard as one might think, but the utter terror singing in her veins made lux feel as if she were standing out like a sore thumb. vibrant red hair, ears that were not always pointed, much of it was in her mind but it felt as if the world were screaming at her. stumbling through, lux was eager to find someone she knew, anyone. surely, she couldn’t be the only one here ? and that’s when her eyes find an illyrian impossible to miss, and like she’d run to her own siblings years prior, lux’s feet move swiftly before she launches herself at the other, arms around his neck. she had a million questions at once, but instead all that tumbled out was a slight whimper. “ i’m sorry, that was probably too much. ” she mutters as she slips down from him, realizing she probably shouldn’t have attacked a illyrian in a strange place. // @jadedblud

it was inevitable, seeing him again. lux knew the fae all too well, his face one that she was certain couldn’t be forgotten. instinctively, she reaches up to touch her ear tips, still finding herself surprised to find the points where once they were round. seeing him always made every memory she tried to get over surface, worsened by the state she was in with low magic and in brand new lands. for a moment, the redhead considers not saying a thing, but then a door slamming behind her causes her to jump and gasp lightly. covering her mouth, she bites her lip and looks back towards paris. “ hi. ” comes her soft voice. the wild and reckless human she was hiding beneath the fae scared in a new place. she hated it. // @unfaed

𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 : @stxrslisten / suho
every event that lux visited made her remember home in both the most painful way and the best. her mind swam with images of such events at home, the mirror of fae and human celebrations so clear it was jarring. the dress she wore was even somewhat similar to what she would have worn at home, though far more revealing than her father would have allowed. the fae were less caring with such things, and lux embraced it fully. her gaze across the gardens is filled with emotions, but a noise makes her jump and reign it all in. “ high lord suho. ” she quickly greets, offering a small curtsy out of practice. “ apologies, you startled me. ”

lux didn't often seek out former humans. she worried they would wish to speak of the human realm and the former princess wished for anything but. her fear of being treated poorly, of preconceived notions taking over should people learn her former title, kept her from ever admitting it. but ysarie was also a member of autumn, and for that reason, lux tried to be kind. the other had never been harsh or rude, never pushy or unkind, and thus, the redhead tried to keep an open mind. their interactions were few and far between, but here in the capital the lady in wait felt the need to maintain connections with anyone of her court. she tried to push aside her fears in favor of the kind heart that desired to ensure all those from autumn were semi okay.
" if you don't mind the company, i would love to join you. " she shares, nose wrinkling briefly at the use of title. " you can also just call me lux. " hardly anyone ever used her surname to begin with, but she'd never been a fan of titles even prior to her visit to the cauldron. lux brushes her skirts to the side and sits next to ysarie, smiling gently. " it's a pleasure to see you as well. " she takes a slow breath before replying to ysarie's concern, trying not to let it bother her that she was seen as different, remembering that the other shared the same status. " surprisingly i'm not too scared. perhaps i am still in shock. "
she recognized the newcomer when she brought her gaze up to meet their eyes. she was relatively new to the fae in the scheme of things, but lux was even newer. ysarie had thirty years under her belt, even though she'd spent a decade barely aware of her surroundings, she was almost used to the dynamics of prythian. the other woman had a mere five years among the fae. she felt a kinship with lux, having watched her adjust to her new life from afar. ysarie did not often interact with the autumn noble family, only speaking to them when sickness or injury affected them. the last long conversation she'd had with a noble was when she came out of her nervous breakdown twenty years ago. so lux wasn't a very present part of her life, but she liked to keep an eye on the lady in waiting, just to make sure she was doing alright. "o-oh! lady ashborne, you may not need a seat but you are very welcome to sit with me if you would like." ysarie smiled kindly at the younger woman, dropping back down to the bench and gesturing to the seat next to her. her body relaxed as she spoke. "it's very nice to see you! how are you holding up with everything? it's been stressful for folks who were born here, which makes it far more alarming for those of us who were not." ysarie so often felt disconnected other fae, and she sensed lux felt similarly, how could she not?

feeling her magic return only reminded lux of how warm it could be, of how the chills of the autumn weather didn't bother her in the slightest thanks to the fire in her veins. even still, the lady in wait couldn't help but explore the dusk court even more, as if some secrets would be unlocked due to the resurgence of magic. the outskirts of the court were a bit of a trek, but she found the silence ever so calming. it almost reminded her of the autumn court. " peaceful, isn't it ? " asks she when she can sense she's no longer alone. lux isn't trying to scare anyone or be scared, and the fact that she was not a jittery cat was a testament to her growth in prythian.

lux was never the human to lack confidence, but as a fae she'd struggled with herself and how she fit into prythian. something about this new court had shaken the made fae, brought out pieces of the girl she'd left behind and let her be more than she had yet. confident once more, she strolled through the festivities with wide eyes, eager to take in all that she could. spinning quickly, lux gasps to find another closely behind her. as the days passed, the former human was beginning to find more of her real self. hidden beneath fear, lux had made a vow that she refused to be that startled doe any longer. finding that her powers grew at a rate faster than normal fae seemed to help, yet another thing she attributed to the cauldron that made her. in truth, having her fire back at all seemed to do much for the redhead. as she toyed with a small amount around her fingertips, lux can’t help but grin at hudson. “ how are your shadows ? ” a genuine curiosity as she showed off. // @jadedblud

despite the time spent in dusk thus far, lux still felt as if she’d stepped into a dream masked as a nightmare. entranced by the unknown and the danger lurking in every corner, yet pulled back by the constant knowledge that she was clueless in this world. it was unsettling, the redhead feeling endlessly unbalanced. at least she no longer felt like a deer in the headlights. that is, she grew more annoyed and frustrated than fearful when she found yet another wrong turn had been made, effectively finding herself lost. spinning, she huffs, and glances to a figure moving in the hall near by. “ please tell me you know the way to the kitchens. ” for she did not, and she was starved. // @sparkledleaves

‘ abigail cowen, cis woman, she/her, 26 / 32 , cauldron made high fae ’ ― cauldron save you. it seems 'LUX' ASHBORNE has finally made it to the capital, the LADY IN WAITING from AUTUMN COURT is said to be CHARMING and is said to describe themselves with FLASHES OF WILD FIRE THAT OFFER A PERFECT WARMTH, SECRETS OF A FORGOTTEN LIFE, LAUGHTER THAT INFECTS AN ENTIRE ROOM and with all of this in mind their RECKLESS nature always seems to get them into trouble. may the mother hold them as they navigate this unthinkable time. ; written by honey, cst, 29, she/her.

lux came into the world as alexandria lioncourt, a princess to her house and the youngest of 7 siblings. the girl never quite fit into all that, a reckless and wild heart that refused to be tamed with dresses and corsets. she was often atop roofs or in a tree rather than courting like her siblings. it drove her parents mad, but the youngest lioncourt was never punished.
she was a dreamer, always thinking there was more out there than simply marrying for her family and having children. it wasn’t that she didn’t ever dream of love, she just didn’t want a duty filled life. early on into her life she’d find friends outside of the nobility, and lux was born as a nickname for being the light of the group.
that dreaming head of hers never quite settled, though, and lex continued to believe there was more. well, that more would come when she met a fae, the embodiment of a creature she never expected to meet, but read plenty about. their relationship would border a romance in lux’s mind, but she never quite knew how he felt. this is definitely a grey area bc it is an open wc, but eventually this relationship would bring her to the cauldron and lux would be reborn again, shedding the name alexandria for good.
her introduction to life as a fae would be a rocky one. gone was the man who brought her to the cauldron, and in his place soon a mentor that would help her navigate. once fae found out she was formerly human things would be a mess, she was a symbol of broken rules and nobody liked that. but her personality and her kindness would move her places, and she eventually became a lady in waiting to the noble family of the autumn court. lux doesn’t think it’s the job she wants for the rest of her eternal life, but she does it well and her experience as a princess in the human realm comes in handy.
she’s still a wild and reckless spirit, as wild as the fire she controls and burning as bright as her namesake. lux is a vibrant person, a good friend to have, even if she hides the mess inside her mind at her whole world changing.
𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
on main : fae that brought her to the cauldron, first fae friend
other ideas : tbh anything, she’s only been a fae for 5 years tho so def limited history

curled up near the rooms that held the high noble family of the autumn court felt like an alright place to be. lux didn't have anything to do, the lady she served was taking a nap or a stroll or something that she insisted lux not need to be around for. so here she sat, a cup of tea in hand awaiting for the other to pop back out or return. she saw plenty of people come and go, but ignored most of them until someone slowing drew her attention. " it's a pretty comfy bench, if you are wondering. "
