Rant and spoilers of Season 2, Episode 2

Again, I am NOT a fan of Sara Hess’ writing for this show because she is quite biased and has shown many sides of her that do not make sense or she likes scenes that are just disturbing, even for this series. 

I did watch this episode a second time like I did episode 1 and the following are my opinions and mine alone.  It is how I feel about the episode, both good and bad. 

The cons of the episode:

The first thing I am going to say here is this:  The scene with Aemond finding solace in the arms of the woman that r*ped him at the age of 13; and the pouring of the warm milk was a complete ICK moment for me.  It was a scene that I cannot deal with because to me, I find it sickening and one that was not needed as in the book, he did not regret what he did BUT as how they are writing how Alicent has no clue as to how to console her own children; I can see why it was done.  But Sara Hess is a sick writer, and I am not a fan of hers.   ** Now this is something that needs to be said **  After that scene I have read and heard of those body shaming Ewan Mitchell. STOP!   Stop judging people for what they look like!  I will admit I said mentally that I thought he was too thin, but I quickly moved on and said what I normally say.  “Be you, boo!”  but the shaming and the judgement has been harsh.  Stay in YOUR lane! 

Also I will NOT write my Aemond in the brothel! Sorry! I won't do it... I will add certain show items with the book canon and my head-canons but not that one.

I still do not like the fact that they did not go with how Rhaenyra did love her siblings in the book and offered them clemency stating that it was the evils of the small council that were turning them toward the path of war.  (Yes, I paraphrased that from the book, but I hope you get the gist.) 

I do not like how they are making Alicent try to be some sort of redeemed saint or whatever it is.  I would take the “Lady MacBeth” road over this one any day.  She is not pious, and she is not the ‘holier than thou’ woman they wish her to be and as Rhaenyra said in season one “it must be exhausting” as Alicent still tries to hide that piety.    

CRISTON COLE!   Mr. “I won’t be your whore!” to being just that to Alicent and now sending Arryk to kill the “Bitch Queen”!  He needs therapy!   And he needs to get over the fact of being the “woman scorned”!  I will be happy when his fate comes to him because he is one that deserves it! 

I am not fond of not seeing Rhaenys that much so far as she does have a big part in this war.  I do not understand her lack of screen time. 

The pros of the episode:

TOM GLYNN-CARNEY!  He is KILLING it as Aegon!  The writers have done well with his story!  And Tom plays him perfectly!  He has Aegon’s personality perfected and the way that he is acting with his fun side last week and now his anger and rage this week; so perfect.  *chef’s kiss*   

MATT SMITH!   He was born to play Daemon and even though Sara Hess does not like the Daemon character, this episode was a very good one as it showed Daemon is still dealing with the same demons he was when his brother was alive.  Daemon never wanted the throne but his way of protecting the family or showing love or showing loyalty get skewed because he is chaos, and he can’t control it.  When Rhaenyra called him ‘pathetic’; it was a jab into his armor, and it hurt…just when his brother would be disappointed in him; he would feel that pain as he just wanted to be the best or on the same level as the two but never quite can get there. He tries so hard and believes he is doing something right when it comes back to him, and it isn’t as it seemed, and people are disappointed in him.  He is doing everything in Rhaenyra’s name but some actions, he believes are right… end up being wrong.  

Baela and Jace!  It was a short scene, but it was a nice loving scene and the mention of Harwin was quite lovely.  It showed why Jace would have made a wonderful King. 

I have to say this and it kind of stings but OTTO HIGHTOWER when he put Aegon in place about Viserys putting him on the throne.  Even though he lost his position, and, in the book, he lost it not for that but for the fact that the blockade had not been dealt with in time but for him to burn Aegon like that; it was brilliant…Then calling his grandsons PEACOCKS!  I was smiling because it is so true. 

The battle between brothers!  I loved this even though the book was quite different, but they did a wonderful job of this, and it was a love story of twins.  They loved each other and could not live without the other so I imagine being on opposite sides had to be hard for them.  In the books, the kill each other as Arryk, died almost immediately and it was Erryk who took four days to die, screaming in horrible pain and cursing his brother…the show did quite well with this scene, and it did break my heart to see it played out.

Emma d’Arcy!  They are amazing as Rhaenyra!  They have embodied the character and I love it! 

Now…the scenes with Helaena not being consoled by anyone, Aegon crying alone and his mother walking out to go to have her fun with Crispy and for Aeond to go where he did.  As you can see, I did not like the solace in the arms of the abuser but since we do see that Alicent has no clue how to console her children; these scenes make sense.  Do I like them?!  NO!   It was part of the reason why Aemond was the dark, psycho and why Aegon did what he did…Helaena has always been the innocent one.  But I am trying to get used to what they are doing to these characters, but I will admit it is hard. 

The funeral procession, I was on Aegon’s and Helaena’s side for this one and I must admit I was waiting for the child’s head to fall off the carriage when it became stuck.  Which I think would have destroyed Helaena sooner.  I know she will become more and more isolated and such in episodes to come, hopefully they will follow that but I think we will see how Alicent is losing control of her children more so.

Rant and spoilers of Season 2, Episode 1

Before anyone calls me an ELITIST C*nt as I was called last night for reading Fire and Blood then using it as canon…these are MY opinions and rant.  Do not like it, unfollow me; I do not care but I am going to say this.  The episode was slow and boring…for an episode so hyped; it was horrible!  The writing was weak.  Too many changes and such. 

Now do not tell me because the book was written by sources that are not to be trusted, it is STILL canon not what Ryan and Sara wish to do with a story because many of us know that Daemon Targaryen was not a warmonger, but they turned him into one. 

The cons of the episode:

 To start off, to remove the scene where Aemond returns and gets berated by his mother and grandsire as well as Aegon celebrating; was so wrong because it sets up so much.   He NEVER felt remorse for it as he MEANT to kill Luke so to remove that scene was a bad idea. 

Don’t even get me started on the sex scenes with Alicent and Ser Crispy because it was NOT needed…all it showed to me was that Ser Crispy is a fucking hypocrite and still butt hurt the future queen (the true queen) did not wish to give up her station for him but now he is sleeping with a queen because he is on her side and has the same hatred.  And yes, in the book Alicent and Rhaenyra HATED each other. 

The Blood and Cheese scene!  And I know I will get hate on this, but I do not care!  Daemon ordered them to assassinate Aemond, but they were too afraid of Aemond or could not find him.  In the book, Helaena was with Alicent in her chambers bringing her 3 children to her for the evening as she always did. Alicent was bound and gagged, and a guard had been killed as well as a maid servant. Helaena pleaded for her life, but it was to no avail.  She chooses Maelor but they did kill Jaehaera and when they killed him; she screamed and was sobbing.  She did NOT just leave the room carrying her other child into Alicent’s bedchamber where she is getting her rocks off with Ser Crispy!  And without any emotions.  Now for the show version of Helaena, they have made her this robot dreamer without emotions and neurotic but in the book; she was not that way.  She was NOT a dreamer or a seer.  She was a woman who married you, had children young and suffered some thing so horrific that made her insane. 

But the writers of the show made this scene so weak and pathetic.  The Red Wedding gave us more than this and this was more horrific than that!  This part of the episode was badly written and then for her to go to find her mother while her mother is off getting off shows me the writers have no clue. 

Aemond looked weak to me.  His insanity and fall into the psychopathic c*nt that he is should have already begun but they have not done this and it drives me insane.  Aemond doesn’t know love, but he does know loyalty, but he is loyal to his House but for him to be King because he believes he should be King, but they made him a little bitch.  I hope that gets better.

The pros of the episode:

Rhaenyra looking for Luke’s remains and all the scenes that went along with that.  It was powerful and so sad. The fact she carried all of that with ONLY one line to say was brilliant.  And when Jace came home, it broke my heart because I know what it is like to lose a brother so my heart broke. 

DAEMON!  Matt Smith is amazing as Daemon and nothing in the scenes with him surprised me with his responses or attitude.  Daemon is out to protect his family and that is what he was doing.  Do I agree with Blood and Cheese?  If they had tried to assassinate Aemond, YES!  But since those two killed a child; it did weaken Rhaenyra because she did lose the smallfolk for a bit, but Daemon did not want the war but a well-placed assassination and talks (but HBO and Sara want us to hate Daemon)

Aegon Targaryen!  Tom did an amazing job of playing Aegon as the childish king that he was.  Aegon was a cruel King once his anger and rage took over but to him the Seven Kingdoms was his playground and he toyed with them.  He had no training because he did NOT want to be king and mom as well as grandsire forced that for their own power grab.  Viserys had an heir.  Viserys is to blame partially for this war, but it was Otto and Alicent who began it.  But the laughter and the play Tom did with Aegon was right on que and perfect! 

The piece with Alicent in the bathtub making her like Lady MacBeth as she is scrubbing away the “blood”.  Perfect scene for what many of us who have read the book know what happens to her.

I did enjoy Rhaenys telling off Daemon, but she was that way anyway.  She is a strong female and I love how they have kept that but as many of us know she is also very tired so if you know the book about her; you will understand what happens and her decision. 

All in all…  I was not happy with the episode.  It was weak and badly written.   It did not impress me as the episode that everyone made it out to be.  I was disappointed and I hope the rest of the season gets better or this is going to be a long 7 weeks until we see season 3 in two years as they begin filming that season at the end of this year.

Some guy on Reddit said: books are pretty much up to interpretation, visual representaion gives more ground to the things as it is revised.

when talking about where Dany's eggs comes from. Apparently, because the show has made it out that they're from Syrax, then the eggs are 100% from Syrax and not Rhaena and Dreamfyre (because you can interpret books any way so they're not an 100% correct source).

And I should take the word of someone off of Reddit and Tiktok? NO! The book came first and it is canon! Not what Ryan Condal or Sara Hess interprets or what they see of fan-fic on Tiktok, here or anywhere else. George wrote the material and he was either fired by HBO or was not invited to the S3 writer's table so that tells you that they are recreating great work because they have their own agenda! Also, I hate to say it...if people are too lazy to read the book(s); that is on them because if the book came first; who many call elitist because we read the book(s) and have been vocal about the changes of the show.

Many of us have PTSD as to what happened in GOT and the writing in HOTD has turned into a joke. I have read articles written by critics as well as see what has been said on Tiktok, Twitter, Facebook and even here...people are NOT happy. When Sara Hess and even Ryan hate the main character (Daemon) to change him to be a groomer or to be an abuser; when he was not. I am sick of modern day ideaology in fantasy writing and what not. As I said before, we read this stuff or watch it to escape for a little bit.

Also, if people actually read the books; the eggs came from the Shadowlands and were not the stolen ones. But since the SHOW is now Gospel to MANY; you all have your own opinions on that, which is fine but maybe when you have time...read the books, do the research and theorycraft with others because the eggs are from an ancient time not just 300 yrs.

🐉 ✨ I have two replies to work on tomorrow or maybe later this evening. I have not been as active as usual as I started a new job this past week and I LOVE IT! My hours from now on will be Mon-Thur for 8 hours a day and a 3-day weekend. Anyway, I will write up those replies tomorrow and possibly begin attacking my inbox.

We are supposed to have a lot of rain and storms beginning tomorrow as I have a tropical storm coming to visit. I hate this time of here in Florida. But my power should stay on but if not, I have enough power in a lapptop to write as well as notebooks.

... I know the show is linking the eggs to being Dany's but I will not write my Dany that way... I have done alot of research and theorycrafting...her eggs are from the Shadowlands. It was why she did NOT need magic to bond with them nor a saddle...her bond was different as I believe she was Azor Ahai and Drogon was Lightbringer...
