REDEMPTION VERSE - Canon divergent from the end of season 7
Jax had been excommunicated by the Club and voted to MEET MR. MAYHEM, and so he planned to lead the cops on a high-speed chase and go out on his own terms. However, the semi-truck never came, and there were only miles and miles of open road. So he let go of his bike's handlebars and spread his arms out wide, losing control of his bike and accepting death with open arms. This action never killed him like he had intended, though he sustained life-threatening injuries. Bruise, battered and in pain, he awoke to a cell — dismayed to find that he was alive. A was a broken man with addictive tendencies towards violence and destruction. He knew it was only a matter of time before Mr. Mayhem greeted him behind bars, no longer able to go out on his own terms.
He knew it would have been better for him to die, better for his boys and the Club. The Club was all that he knew, and there was part of him that longed to be back behind the walls of SAMCRO with his brothers — though he knew he would never be accepted back. His actions had nearly led to the Club's destruction. It didn't take long for him to discover who the new President and Vice President were, and there was solace in that fact. Chibs was a far more deserving president than he could ever be. Being behind bars became a fight every day, part of him wanting to accept the fate he knew he deserved and the other part wanting to seek redemption in the eyes of the Club.
He was sentenced to FIVE YEARS behind bars for his crimes, and by year three, he sought to talk to Chibs and Tig — to try and redeem himself and be voted back in. He wanted to fix what he broke, and the only thing he did not seek out was his kids. It was better for them to hate him and believe him to be dead. He didn't want them to mourn the loss of a bastard, nor did he want Wendy to know he was alive or mourn him. It would be a long shot to be voted back in and return to his family. He had destroyed their trust in him with each violent action, and if he had to suffer alone, then he would accept that.
Jax didn't fear death as the reaper, time and time again, took hold of his soul and always brought him back to the Club. This time would be different — he needed to earn the right to come back, and there was part of him that doubted he would be allowed back; part of him doubted that the Club would allow for anything else OTHER than his death.
