Story snippet from an AU of my self ship where @selinas-ships sister insert exists

Emlyn knew xey probably shouldn’t be wandering the castle, even if she did have some permission. Zane’s only real rule being not to go into his private quarters, not wanting snoops to acquire personal information about him. He was a generally private person. Though xey decided to entertain xemself with a walk around the castle.

Xey didn’t know what possessed xem to go a little deeper, but xey were feeling adventurous today and rounded the corner before xey spotted the staircase xey hadn’t noticed before. Curiosity had xem moving towards it, wondering where it led. Walking up the stairs, xey eventually happened upon a plain, wooden door. Xey try the knob, to find it was unlocked.

Opening the door, xey came upon what looked to be an attic of some kind. Intrigued, xey walked in and begin looking around. There were many old decorations and family heirlooms. It seemed pretty normal, if not crowded from how much stuff seemed to be crammed up here.

As xey continue to look around, xey found a large portrait lean against the wall. Xey walked a bit closer to get a better look. It was a family portrait of the Ro’Meave family. It was partially covered by a tarp, but xey could easily make out each person. Garte standing tall and stoic with Garroth and Vlad on either side of him. Zianna was mostly covered by the tarp with a younger Zane beside her. Emlyn smiled, intrigued by what appeared to be a happy royal family.

That was when something caught xeir eye. Someone’s hand seems to be on Zane shoulder and it didn’t look like his mother‘s hand. As carefully as xey could, Emlyn pulled on the tarp until it fell onto the ground what xey saw was definitely a young girl. Her hand was the one on Zane’s shoulder, while the girl’s other hand held Zianna‘s from behind.

The girl in the portrait had to be family, but xey don’t remember Zane ever mentioning a sister. With all the distain he felt for his brothers and father, xey were actually surprised he never brought her up. Did something happen to her?

Emlyn stood beside Zane as the Shadow Knights debrief him. Xey couldn’t really focus on what was being said. Curiosity plagued xem once again xey hadn’t even noticed the shadow knights leave until Zane address xem by name.

Emlyn immediately snap back to the present. “Hm? My apologies, what did you say?”

Zane just seems to sigh in slight annoyance as he looked at xem. “All right out with it. You clearly have something on your mind.”

Emlyn nearly flinched in embarrassment. Xey hadn’t realize xey were being any kind of obvious. He wasn’t going to like xeir answer, but since he asked, xey decided to get the answer xey were seeking.

“I want to start by apologizing. I may have taken the opportunity to explore the castle a bit,” xey paused, giving him a moment to digest what xey had said. He seemed only to remain neutral so xey continued. “So, I seemed to have stumbled upon your attic. My question is, who is the girl I saw in your family portrait? I don’t recall you ever mentioning having a sister.”

Emlyn waited for his reaction. Xey expected him to be mad at xem, to yell at xem about snooping around or to dismiss the question entirely. His unsettling silence did not reassure xem that he was not upset with xem. So when he finally did speak, xey were surprised when his tone was oddly calm.

He sighs, heavy and vaguely sad, "... my sister is a subject I don't often broach.” He seemed to pause trying to collect his thoughts. “Of all my siblings, Vivian was my favorite. Unfortunately, we lost her, during a storm at sea. When she died... she took the sun with her." He looked at xem with such a somber expression. This was different from when he spoke of his brothers. He must’ve really cared for her.

Emlyn felt a jab at her own heart. There was someone this man had cared about, loved even. What xey wouldn’t give to see a glimpse of what that Zane looked like. “She sounds like she was truly a treasure. I’m sorry for your loss.”

He seemed to just stare at her for a moment before he gives a dismissive huff, averting his gaze to the nearest window. “It’s all in the past now. I chose to pave way for a more prospective future.”

iii. the house at dusk

Frances hummed as she sat in their room in the evening. She had a bobby pin pressed in between her lips as she carefully took a thin strip of her hair in her hands. It was time to set her hair. It wasnt like it was a tedious task, but it did take some time. For the top of her hair, each strip had to be rolled and set to be standing, it was important for the hairdo she desired to achieve. These were a bit harder to do, but nothing she couldn't handle. She has been doing this for awhile. Her hair now was much easier than when she was a teen, and she had hair that fell a little passed her shoulders. Then, it wouldn't be able to hold the curl as long, it took longer and overall was less fun of an experience. But now, She didn't mind doing this alone, a record just playing in the background as she worked, but having company was nice.

John leaned on the wall, a drink in his hand and a cigarette between his lips. He was in just his t-shirt and dress pants. His hair was brushed through, having his hair stick up in a couple of odd places. He didn't care, as he knew he was going to shower in the morning. He had a long day and just wanted to relax when he got home.

Frances loves catching glances of him in the mirror. She loved knowing she was seeing him in ways most people didn't get to see. It was sweet and imitate. He trusted her to see him on his most tired and zero effort days. She loved the connection they had.

John and her talked about anything; it could be the littlest of things, to suddenly a long discussion of things happening around them. That's just what they did. It made sense, and they wouldn't have it any other way. This was just a painfully average evening, which couldn't have been more perfect. They were at ease.

i know this is prolly like way out of your realm for you to answer, but the implication a devil 'mating' season means that it can happen to kazuya too and that's scary to think about

While I gave DJ this headcanon to separate him from humans. Since when I write nonhuman characters - I like to give them traits that make them different from humans. Since I think that's interesting, and what's the point of characters that are different "species," if they're not much different from humans other than they have Superpowers? Especially since DJ also tends to be more "animalistic." at times...

I write Tia pretty often in private so far, because she's your girl and I wouldn't really post anything about the ocs without your seal of approval. It's teamwork out here.

The boys are coming along, I got debut fics for their characters on hand too just in case I felt like posting them or anyone but us wanted to read about em.

Overall I'm pretty comfortable with using the pre-existing characters and including ocs for fun or because it helps further the story (like Worthy Heir)

I know ocs are a hold sell as a main focus and I like exploring the characters that are already here. There's nothing wrong with posting gen because it have a certain universal likability to it.

As for drawing, well, u know me and art lol but I make attempts on occasion

✏️ I started writing fanfic in middle school JFKDLS! I wrote a, uhhh, coughs House of Anubis fanfic with an OC. It's still out there somewhere I'm sure, I never deleted it 😅

⭐️Ahhh finishing ASHWAH is one of my biggest accomplishments! It's the longest thing I've ever written. Over 200k words, I have no idea how I did it, I was possessed with my love for TLOU. But more than just the word count I'm just really proud of how the whole project came together. It tells the story I wanted it to, and I'm just very emotionally attached to that fic.

umbrella - i assume this doesnt need an answer for both of them, bcuz they belong 2 the same story. i imagine ian and rammys story being a vidya game, and i guess itd b a psychological horror? which feels like, pretentious to say but the main scaries of the story are how much ians life sucks and he wants 2 die. so... i think itd count. thats all overarching stuff tho... most of ian n rammys time spent together is lightheared, i think. theyre two dudes hanging out and one of them is slowly coming to terms with the fact his suicidal thoughts won. whatever genre that is

pencil - WAHHH it depends a lot of the time... ian and rammy have definitely made a big resurgence in my brain recently (past month) bc im 18 and can post bout em, but also just cuz i love them sooo much and want to chew on them constantly. id say i write abt/draw them pretty frequently tho!! i doodle them on my school work and in notebooks a lot and they have some of the bigger galleries on my toyhouse lawl. i dont write much directly for their universe, but ive typed... many paragraphs to my friends just braindumping the shit i think about them. so, yeah, less often than id like, but theyre up there in my priorities of ocs :3

apple (for ian) - GRAHHHHHHHHHHH u dont know what demons uve unleashed w this. i already twed this post for suicide but im gonna move this part under the cut bc mentioning ians dad specifically ties a lot into the suicide aspect of the story

OKAY SO. ians family consists of his mom, sister, and him. his dad was in the picture when he was a little kid, like early elementary age, but ditched after some time. his relationship with both parents was relatively normal, they definitely couldve done a better job raising him, but they were never intentionally hurtful nor did they scar him at all. (well, correction, his MOM didnt scar him at all)

after ians dad left, though, his side of the family still kept in touch... they gave very flimsy reasonings for his fathers absence, why he couldnt make it to holidays, why he wasnt saying all these things directly, etc. it kept things strained and tense as the family knew things were being kept from them but never got to know why. the last interaction ian ever had w his dads side of the family was on his 18th birthday, where his uncle gifted him a silver handgun with his name carved into the handle. it was a hollow attempt to connect with ian, a display of violent masculinity that ian would later use to try and take his own life.

i dont have it fully figured out what this *means* for ians character, but its something i go insane about. ians only memories of his dad are him doing stereotypical masculine dad things w him, like fishing. maybe he didnt interact w ian ass if he was his child, but if he was his son, and that improper socialization is part of the reason he hates himself- why the gun is what kills him. but... i dunno really. ians social anxiety, addiction, and general collapsing in on himself are cuz of a life time of mental illness that went unchecked until he successfully isolated himself to the point no one *could* care, not just cuz daddy give him gun.

okay! that is NOT what u asked at all but now u know it. hehehe. of course ian and rammys story is a big wip forever so excuse me for any side tangents and/or general plot points w loose ends

but! as for his actual relationships w family (ill include sister since his relationship w mom isnt rlly fleshed out yet):

he and his mom havent spoken in 6 years, nor have he and his sister. he slowly faded out of their lives when he moved away, partly out of a subconscious desire to isolate and partly due to just not having the social confidence or energy to maintain regular communication w his family. his mom is the first person he talks to when he escapes his Puter, and she's his rock in his remaining months of recovery. shes very underdeveloped as a character atm, but what is certain is she tries her hardest to understand her sons struggles and support him, offering to pay for therapy for him. ian loves his mommy lalala

ian and his sister are... dddifferent. ian also had an average relationship w his sister, but shes a lot more upfront with him when it comes to talking about how his 6 year absence effected her than their mom. their mom, while wanting her children to seek help for their respective struggles, doesnt really want to actively talk about those things with them. shes terrified of saying the wrong thing, and it doesnt help that she doesnt even have a clue what *to* say. ians sister, though, isnt afraid to tell him "hey man we fucking missed you. your absence hurt a lot because i didnt have any friends either, and i wish we couldve had eachother. jackass" post main-story they are friendly and hang out. during his time w rammy, ian does talk about his thoughts on his sister before he left, that being that shes a "crazy bitch"... family <3

💕: Who confessed first and how? Did it go as planned or did shenanigans ensue?

well it wasn't supposed to be a confession confession at first. Imogen realized her feelings were deep, but she essentially tried the same thing she did on Ferrix before shit hit the fan - cut things off before it was too late because Bix deserves better. Imogen believed she didn't have the emotional capacity to truly love Bix in the way she deserves. Her "I don't think I can love you" isn't because she doesn't, it's because she never learned a healthy way to regulate her emotions. But Bix's response of "could have fooled me" completely flipped Imogen's view of herself. She realized she could love Bix in a way that she didn't think she could. That she has been loving her that way all along.

🗣️: Who’s the one that will ramble on about their highly specific interest while the other just sits back and nods along?

sometimes Bix likes to ramble a bit about her work and Imogen often finds herself listening even though she couldn't care less about the subject, but she just really enjoys the sound of her voice. It was even more surprising when Imogen realized she retained some of that information. It even ends up being useful on occasion.

✏️: How canon compliant are you with them? Do you stick pretty close or just have fun cause it’s your ship so no one can tell you what to do other wise?

I mostly kept things in line with canon for the most part during the s1 events, or at least used it as building blocks. Like, to me, Imogen was a plausible character behind the scenes given that Bix and her personal life didn't have a very big part on screen. The finale is when I really started to change it up. S2 is gonna be a different story considering I have no self control and already started writing some major events, so I'll take canon into account when the show airs, but I'll probably diverge quite a bit.... especially if they end up killing Bix off.

🕊️: Give just a general domestic tidbit for em (things they like about each other, routines, habits, and just overall sweet stuff)

Whenever Imogen meditates, Bix wants to give her her space, but she frequently winds up near her anyway. The practice is relaxing to witness and be around, so Bix even tries to meditate with her sometimes. Imogen never questions it, she's just grateful to have her near too, it actually helps calm her mind.

🤥 are they good liars? do they have tells to show they're lying?

mechanically: nooooo NEGATIVE CHARISMA LOOKING ASS. doesn't mean it's not worth trying. has semi-successfully hidden they're half eladrin to the party for 2 months i think, through sheer Focus (very funny, we've been rolling con saves for it). i will count being from elven bloodlines of seasonal mood-ring eyes and markings as "having a tell" and count "covering that shit up with makeup" as a point toward being kind of a good liar. more in general: they're a mediocre actor with a lot of heart, so they're amazing at things they've practiced a lot, like assuming a new identity and being super mean (they're currently here in camp). kind of a tell: hair flip when nervous. it's an elle woods kind of move.

✏️ is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?

SHOUT TO THAT VON RADICS POEM "I WAS WRONG BEFORE WHEN I SAID MEAN THINGS ABOUT LOVE SONGS. I'M SORRY LOVE SONGS" it's just sooo it. beside the whole romantic love thing of the poem it's very much also about forgiveness towards urself which is very sweet. lyrics... they have a big ol playlist out of which boys don't cry might be one of Thee songs, but i've had the vaccines on loop for a couple days so 👍 i always knew "let's go to bed before u say something real let's go to bed before u say how u feel" kind of hilarious. their ladyprince girl best friend at them for years.

🌪️ what is the biggest change you've ever made to them? how have they changed from their original version?

KIND OF LITTLE I FEEL. WEEEE as the whole party. figured out we were having a cross-campaign family tree of elves with red-adjacent hair and an m- initial like midway thru, which made me go from "uhh UHH theyre a sun elf or something?" to having a Big Ol Family, and esp the eladrin stuff which is preddy important to their character now. ended up making me lean more on the vibe of hm... duality i guess. Thee standing between but not rly feeling like u fit in any part of the world + learning how to make ur way to where u wanna go anyway. this also means they have like, a bunch of hairstyle changes and i'm DREADING making an artfight sheet and having to explain the visual journey without sounding crazy (#swag) then u__u made em as a character w a big theme of Grief since the start which has always been very fun to explore. especially after last year that has been Something to me it's very cathartic as well to write silly little character who go thru The Shit and Have Been Hamlet Many Times, Inside Their Head, and then get their silly little happy ending ☀💖

Trolls WIP

Walking into the restaurant brought back a comfort I have come to relish in. This place really was my favorite vacation destination. I made my way closer to the bar, to what I have unofficially dubbed “my spot”. I made no real claim to it, but it was just my favorite spot to be in. Mostly, so I could see her.

The restaurant was ran by two people. Bruce and Brandy. Bruce was a troll, so it definitely made me feel less out of place seeing him around. However, what really made me want to come around was Brandy.

Speaking of, she always seemed to have a sense of when I was here, because the moment I started to approach the counter she started to look my way. 

“Oh, Brook! So lovely to see you again.” She said.

I tried giving a casual wave, trying not to melt at her smile. “Hey Brandy. You know I can’t stay away for too long.”

She began to turn around, ever the busy woman. “Let me get started on your nachos.”

I sat on top of the counter, so we could talk closer to each other. “Aw, Brandy. You really know how to flatter a troll. Remembering my order, and whatnot.” I joked.

“Kinda hard not to when you only order one thing.” She joked back 

I pretended to scoff. “As if it’s my fault your nachos are amazing.”

She smiled before turning to put the order together. It was so much easier to shamelessly gaze at her when she was busy working.

I was violently ripped from my staring, when I heard a very familiar voice behind me.

“Hey there, Brooke! Welcome back!”

I turned to see Bruce, with a big grin on his face. He was such a sweet and kind person, who always seemed to make a point to talk to me whenever he noticed I was in.

“Hey Bruce. How’s life, and the family?” I asked, hoping he didn’t notice me staring.

“Oh they’re good. Thirteen kids isn’t something a sneeze at, I tell you.” He chuckled.

I chuckled along with him, knowing that that many kids can get up to a lot of trouble when no one‘s looking. They were generally good kids, though.

Yes and no? not in the traditional way, but i'd do fanfiction like writing exercises as a kid my parents gave me in creative writing about series i liked. And later on i would write a lot of extra content for TTRPG modules and stuff to make em my own so in that way yes.

💛 Do you have any piercings? No, they're cute and attractive on other people but i'm not interested in them personally. I am thinking on getting a tattoo tho

i like 'em ! assuming i'm able to wrap my head around it. i mostly like crossovers when au's are involved, i think taking one character and trying to fit them into another universe can be fun, and a character from a different series having au's means it's infinitely easier for me to try to figure out how to interact, too

✏️ fandomless ocs :

honestly shoutout to anyone who even has a fandomless oc, because i don't have the strength for or have good ideas for one kjJHDSVJ. i have 3.5 ocs, two of which are genshin and one being bnha, with a few npc-like characters they're connected to; and i only recently started making ocs, so i'm not very confident in it either ... but i love hearing about other peoples ocs! and the lore people have decided for them! admittedly it can be a bit tricky for me to write with them sometimes, mostly because i get anxious about getting things wrong, and canon characters are easier for me to take in/process info of, especially with wiki being easily accessible, but i do try my best.

💞 oc x canon :

anyone who doesn't like oc x canon is boring and a hater jJDSHVJDSV. i think it's fun ! and i have a few oc x canon ships with my partner which are very near and dear to me. as long as people aren't forcing it onto others and all parties involved are having fun, then there's nothing wrong with silly oc x canon ships imo !

honestly i'm not a huge fan of like ... chronological rp? if that's the right term? where things happen in a straight line, so i definitely don't do that on any of my blogs. i like to jump around to different points / arcs in different threads or ask responses, it just depends on what i feel like doing. so one ask response might take place during season 1, another might take place around the culling games, etc, if that makes sense
