How old is the MC and the casts?
Right now I'm thinking 28 for MC.
As for the rest of the cast:
A is 32.
Gaelin is 30.
Morgan is 30.
Castor is 25.
Merfolk don't count the years but rather lunar cycles but that would be a lot lol physically they're 26.
Ruth is 14

Anton/Antonia St. Marteen
With a prominent name and an impressive pedigree, A St. Marteen is well known around the Isles and your place of residence, New Haven. Nobles and...everyone else don't usually mix, but it's an open secret that nobles hire pirates often to do the work they would never get their hands dirty for. A is different, because while they hired you, they want to join you.
Appearance: A has golden-brown skin, brown eyes and black hair and is 5'7. f!A keeps it up in an elaborate style that's curled and pinned in a myriad of places while m!A keeps it cut short in an undercut. f!A wears a typical cupcake style corseted dress with red and black lacing, though you're unsure whether that'll be fit for a ship. m!A wears a white blouse with ruffled cuffs , a coat with a long tail, breeches and tall boots. You're going to have to tell your crew not to make fun of them too loudly.
Personality: A is prissy, prim and proper, and it's obvious they're not used to the lack of societal rules on the ship. Overly polite and unable to break the polite behavior they've grown up learning, it's almost funny watching them interact with your boisterous crew. As their bodyguard, it'll be up to you to keep them safe, but it doesn't hurt to have some fun at their expense on the side?

hellooooo!! i cannot put into words how excited i am for thiss if!! i had a question, if youre cool with scenario asks, but i saw that it was mentioned that Gaelin and MC are co-dependent, sorta.
How would the other ROs react if MC needed to check in with Gaelin before going through with something? Like, asking them their opinions of the other ROs to their faces or asking Gaelin to tag along to what the ROs hoped would be a private moment (but could beleftopen to interpertation)
helloooo! and I'm excited that you're excited! I am cool with scenario asks! :))
Since Gaelin is MC's advisor, that's sort of canon in a way haha but in other instances would be interesting.
Morgan: would get pissed, to be quite honest. for one, they'd think MC is an adult and should be independent enough to make their own decisions without having to check in with Gaelin. If this is in a romance stage, Morgan would hate to see the captain prioritizing Gaelin especially when it has to do with speaking to them during a private moment. Morgan also doesn't shy away from telling people how it is, so they'd definitely have some choice words about it. Morgan already makes fun of Gaelin and MC for how close they are, and for how high-strung Gaelin is, so it's just another thing to poke fun at.
S: S would be a bit confused at the dynamic. They're quite a literal and straight-forward person and they don't understand a lot of social nuances when it comes to humans. They'll just blurt out: "Why are you asking Gaelin?" I think they'd find themselves annoyed but wouldn't know why. When they're talking to MC, they're talking to MC alone. If it's in the case that they brought Gaelin to a private conversation, S would refuse to speak. S is very protective of their boundaries and what they want. They're very clear and direct, it's part of their upbringing.
A: A is too polite to say anything outwardly, but they'd pull MC aside later and sort of beat around the bush a little, not wanting to seem like they're making a big deal of nothing. It is ingrained in A not to step on any toes, and they're a bit of a people pleaser due to how they were raised. If it bothered A, MC wouldn't know until later tbh!
Castor: Castor is a bit of the same with Ruth and vice versa so they'd understand but still be annoyed by it. Still, they'd let it slide but not without witty remarks to at least let MC and Gaelin know they disapprove lol. But they understand the need when you're close to someone like that.

I was already really curious about this project but then I saw Bodyguard!MC romance with St. Marteen and I immediately had to scroll up and send this. The yearning I have for that trope. And also pirates. And Violence and gore. And mystery??
I wish you the best on your writing, I am looking forward to watching it grow and where in goes. And also hope that whatever beverage you drink in the morning tastes wonderful tomorrow.
Thank you! <3

I thought about this when I first read the intro, but I had to consider how I wanted to phrase the question. There's a certain class of pirates that would most certainly want to skip the quest and just *take* A's riches (and perhaps also throw A overboard). There are multiple ways this could either fail, or still lead to a story, but there are also ways the story could just end there. Have you given any thought to how you would address an MC who would want to go this route? Is it an option? If not, what prevents it?
I have, actually! So I'm glad you asked! There's going to be pirates that MC comes across that will definitely try to take A ransom and it's up to the MC to stop that. You'll come across not only some friendlier pirates but also very hostile ones.
And this is in the prologue but contracts as big and delicate as MC's and A's are signed by blood and magic. MC can't actually betray A or kill them, and A can't withhold their money if MC does happen to find it. The contract is magically bound and will hurt them more than help them. A is prissy, yes, but they're smart and cover all their bases. For a captain who wishes to harm A, well, they'd be harming themself in the process.
Does that bond extend to MC's crew? No, so we'll see if anyone tries to get the better of the captain.

How would the ROs react to a vulgar/crass captain?
A and Castor: since both of them have noble backgrounds, you would be making them blush more often than not. They'd get flustered easily and not know how to react, since polite society doesn't lend well to crassness and vulgarity. Castor is a bit more used to it since running away from home, but they're still uppity about it lol
Morgan: Morgan has a foul mouth I don't think MC can beat it. They find all that funny.
S: wouldn't understand. Well, it depends, but half the time they wouldn't get the joke/suggestion. You'd have to explain it to them majority of the time so you'd honestly get confusion a lot as a reaction.
Gaelin: is a very serious person and would roll their eyes or just react with disgust/disappointment. It's funny; they never grew up in the nobility but they would blend in really well. (They're a brick wall character)(hence why their nickname is 'Straightlace')
