♦ How has roleplaying on Tumblr improved since you started out?

The addition of the IM system sure was nice. Being able to quickly connect with people for quick questions without necessarily having to add one another on social media. It sure beats asks and fanmail, the latter was such a weirdass system but let me tell you I used it a ton! Other than that I can’t say a whole lot has changed as far as I can tell? The new updates certainly seem promising with how they’ll make some of the more basic formatting easier. Hopefully that won’t be abused, right?

⚓ Are there any small details you tend to like in roleplays?

Answered here! I always love it when people add or acknowledge the setting in their responses instead of just writing characters in a void.

⛵ What genres do you like writing the most?

I like writing pretty much every genre outside of hopeless angst, I need happy ends or resolution and writing pain for the sake of pain is something I tried and don’t think I want to try again! I’m not in this hobby to make myself depressed lmao.

As for particulars... I love a good adventure!! It brings in all the other good things like comedy, mishaps, bonding, learning, atmosphere, worldbuilding- you really don’t beat that combo in a long running thread and I would love to get more of those going with people. Not many of my writing partners who got into it ever seemed to stick with the hobby long enough to see it through. Alas!

I’m getting better at enjoying slice of life, slowing down and just having characters talk to one another. One of my problems starting with this hobby was having the need to always make something happen. Always moving, blast boom bang! There’s fun to be had with just light banter and I’m glad I’m getting better at that enough, hopefully people notice.

☘ Is there anything that makes you instantly want to follow someone?

Ooo... I’m so hesitant to follow people nowadays, most of the people I end up adding now are those who my other friends on the dash are writing with or recommend or people I just catch on the peripheral. I’ve got so many writing partners as it is if I was more relaxed about my following habits I’d have way too much on my plate. I’m one of the people who really fucking means it when they say ‘if I follow you I want to write with you’ because I regularly go through and prune followers/following of people who don’t seem to reciprocate that vibe. Is it mean? Kinda. But it helped me a lot.

When I break my own rule is when I see people who write characters from extremely niche franchises I enjoy ahaha. Or Rune Factory characters with Raguna, because that fandom is small enough that I don’t really get to be picky. I’m also more likely to follow blogs that are emphatic about their characters while also not being caught up with aesthetics. The less aesthetic BS the more likely I am to give blog proper looks.
