Today's date creeps up on him sooner than he'd like and weighs on him more than he'd care to admit. There's a certain sense of obligation to the date despite his obvious hang ups. However, the many moments spent alone one another made their connection … complicated, to say the least. Neito was many things but he wasn't a liar. There was no sense lying to himself about what this blossoming right beneath his nose. It's what leads him to her dorm at a vacant hour just to leave it waiting right outside her door and slip away to avoid any unwanted attention. Trying to explain his way out of this would prove more challenging than his decision to deliver it in the first place.

Deciding what to leave behind actually came to him easier than he thought. Sweets. Chocolate cookies and covered strawberries sat in boxes fitting one description: gold. The significance spoke for itself, neatly hiding the note underneath that lacked a sender but not the importance of the day.

'Happy Birthday.' -For the birthday girl!

she's not expecting anything, honestly. in most cases, she'd rather keep her birthday a secret than go around blabbing the date. ochako wasn't numb to the fact that the holidays were such a hard time of the year for so many and the last thing she ever wanted to do was have someone worrying over her getting a birthday gift two days after the christmas holiday.

waking up this morning, ochako layed in bed a little longer than she normally would have. the covers were warm, the room was dark, it would be so much easier to fall back to sleep rather than start her day, but the earlier she started it, the sooner she got it over with, right? right.

rubbing tired eyes and mussing down some stray brunette locks, ochako shuffled her way towards her dorm door and thank goodness she looked down when opening it, or she might've stepped all over the gift someone had left her.

the gift was wrapped neatly. covered in gold. noticing it, ochako felt her heart flutter-- had he really gone to all this trouble? bending down ochako undid the wrappings and felt her cheeks tinge pink. chocolate covered strawberries and cookies? she found herself smiling, and before anyone else could see her and make a comment, she shut her door and placed the gift on her desk, the card slipping to the side when she placed it down.

as expected there was no sender on the card, but the golden wrappings were all ochako needed to see to knoe who it was from. pulling her cell from her pocket, she dialed neito's number.

" morning nei. " there's a pause and ochako laughs, her cheeks darkening as she makes for the door again. " wait up for me and let's walk to our classes together, yeah? oh! and.. you didn't have to, but, thank you. "

katsuki stood up, more than ready to leave the room. “i’m fine, let me go-”

“make sure to check in with recovery girl one time before leaving, alright?” you grabbed his wrist before he left your dorm. “i know you already went, but just to be safe-”

“alright, fine!” katsuki scolded, pulling away from your hold. why was he agreeing so easily? that wasn’t right, was it because he was tired? “fine,” he repeated. “i’ll- i’ll go now.”

you nodded, opening the door for him to leave. “alrighty then, go.”

but for a reason katsuki didn’t know (but still hated), he stayed, frozen. “uh,” he managed. what was wrong with him? sure, it was a quite a few hours past midnight, but that couldn’t do that much of a number on him, right? “thanks.”

“no problem, katsuki,” you said, before giving him a quick hug. “alright, see you tomorrow.”

katsuki leaves the room–

he honestly doesn’t know why you’re coming off shy as you share stories. at one point, he just watches you talk, loving your your rambles and anecdotes. his friends told him that first dates are awkward, but you two talk like old friends. no rust on telephones or reservations on jokes. he doesn’t get how someone as pretty and as kind as you would ever be nervous telling jokes or stories. but you do.

this guy isn’t your ex boyfriend, evident by his genuine interest in you. he laughs along with you, listening to everything you say. you can tell by his red eyes on yours, actually answering your questions and asking you follow ups. seemingly, he cares about what you have to say. he doesn’t know how nice that is, but you do.

“i saw you on tv once.” you giggle, on your second cup of coffee. neither of you wanna leave each other’s presences right now. “it was years ago, when your class was at that forest training camp.”

“oh yeah? did i look good?” he says, playfully flexing his arm muscles because he loves that pink blush on your face. god, he’s built like he was sculpted. but you’re not gonna let him know that, even though you subconsciously place your hand on his bicep, feeling the firmness of his muscles.

“you know, anabolic steroids are terrible for you.” you quip as he feigns offence. its the first time you’ve genuinely laughed in months. theres probably smile lines on your face now.

he throws his head back laughing like a little kid. its honestly strange to you how funny he finds you- you never really thought you were before. you’ve spent the last 8 months questioning your self worth, wondering if all love ever does is break your heart. but now, in some cafe you can’t remember, with a guy your best friend set you up with, you get to begin again.

the date evolves into walking down the block. you do a mental backflip when he finally works up the courage to hold your hand, the chilled autumn air no match for his big, warm hands. his fingers intertwine with yours lime they’re meant to be there. funny how monoma’s hands never did that.

just at that thought, you almost bring him up. the thought of him now still makes that feeling in your chest arise. how he never liked your heels, how he never found you funny, and how he’d never walk you to your car like kirishima was doing now.

either he senses your anxiety, or is just a ray of sunshine, but he eases your worries with a squeeze to your hand and a continuing of his anecdotes from earlier. “my family watches spirited away every christmas, because its my moms favourite movie. without fail.”

its a minute detail, but you wonder if he brought that up because he remembered you mentioning studio ghibli hours ago. its enough to ease your worries.

“i love that movie.” you utter, heart still racing from the close contact. “oh, i- uh, said that already. sorry.”

but he doesn’t hold it to you for reusing that fact. “don’t apologize, i think its cute.”

and for the first time, you wanna hear what he says. you hope he tells you about the movies his family watches, about his hot-headed best friend and the hero agency he works at. you urge him on as he rambles about the weed brownies denki makes, or the time he almost got expelled from UA. they’re dumb anecdotes, but it feels more genuine than anything else you’ve ever felt.

picturing a future with kirishima, no matter how naive or wishful it may be, brings a smile to your face. for the first time, maybe ever, its something you want. he’s effortless, his affection towards you easy for him. maybe you were never hard to love after all. maybe you just had to wait for the right guy.

when you reach your car, you almost don’t want the date to end. “i had a nice time.” you smile. though its what you always say at the end of a date, this time you mean it.

“me too.” he the redhead says, still holding your hand. “next time i’ll come pick you up. it’ll be easier for both of us.”

there, you blush again, a fond smile on your lips. “next time?”

now, he’s the one flustered, realizing his slip up. he rambles out apologies for assuming, his cheeks matching the red of his hair. after all, he’s just a person to. he’s experienced heartbreak like you have. this is likely a new beginning for him, as well.

you stay silent, but you do press a kiss to his cheek before letting go and heading into your car. he pretends the little happy dance you do before starting up and driving back home.

he’ll definitely tease you for that next date.

You and him were placed in the shigaraki dome something he was subconsciously happy about meaning he could protect you if you were injured (poor bby) you had been using your quirk on shigaraki wearing him to lower his resolve you knew you had eraser and monoma behind the scenes taking control of his quirk so what was this? Why was shigaraki growing? He grabbed you suffocating you then dropping your lifeless body right in front of bakugo he had no time to register it he just knew he had to fight back after the whole ideal he runs back to your body begging you to wake up and show that you’re okay but the only thing that he got in response was your head falling limp to the other side he cried that day he had so many regrets

Out of his many regrets one stood out to him the fact he was too pussy to tell you how much loved you and now he had to confess in broken sobs

Kirishima

You guys had been dating since the sports festival where you had totally beat his ass. He had a huge crush on you before hand but that’s when he knew he’d make you a wife (not in this life time tho). He knew you were strong so he trusted you to return safely to his arms after the battle.

Kiri gets closer falling to his knees as he cradles you in his arms shouting for you to wake up to stop playing he says his I love yous and he shakes cradling your face

He’d had a major crush on you since the entrance exams when he saw you walk in confidently and take down so many of the robots when he saw you in his class he was delighted that the heavens blessed him with your presence. He immediately worked his magic and started flirting you up. It had taken you a while to reciprocate his advances way too late. You weren’t official but smth in your gut told you you could be saying good bye for the last time. Before your departure you shared your first kiss it wasn’t anything intense but it signified your feelings.

He knew you’d died just by the look of you. He breaks into sobs and bangs on the floor throwing a tantrum begging for you to come back before he’s pulled off of you by Aizawa and into a hug when he repeatedly grabs him asking why you?

That day you guys had shared your first and last kiss

Sero

You and sero were supposed to be middle school sweethearts. He’d asked you out during your 3rd year of middle school under the cherry blossom trees. Wonderfully you guys had lasted into your first year of hs technically your second if the war hadn’t happened. You guys had been partnered in the same area which he was thankful for.

You had been engaging into close combat with a villain who had a plant quirk. She’d gotten on top of you pressing her hand to your chest. You hadn’t even realized what had happened before you blacked out and just like that you were gone. When sero looked over to you he sees a giant cherry blossom tree emerging from your chest. He feels his heart shatter into a million pieces as he rounds up the rest of the villains he runs over to your body not being able to shake you or get to hold you one last time due to the size of the tree he sobbed and cried for hours until they announced it was over

Cherry blossoms had always been a symbol of your guys love, but now it’d be a reminder of your death.

Mina

You and her had a secret relationship something so sweet that only you and her could share the private kisses and touches or silent sleepovers in each others dorms your relationship was something only you two has shared.

You had the pleasure of going against all for one along with your awesome girlfriend to say you were hyped was an understatement you’d been training for this moment since your extra training had begun. You’d gotten close to landing the final blow before he had stolen your quirk yanking you by the neck slamming your body into the ground repeatedly until there was no possibility of you making it out alive, Mina heard the repeated gash of your body hitting the ground the repeated gags and gurgles until you fell silent with a final thud as he drops you to the ground mercilessly she wanted to but she couldn’t run over to you and hold you and check on you she was as occupied with trying to get out with her own life. Afterwards she held your cold lifeless body blood covering herself , her suit and the ground she places a kiss to your lips with a hushed I love you

You never had the chance to go public who knew your death would be the way people found out

Jirou

She’d always been used to being in the shadows a quiet person people often forgot about. That was until she met you. You never made her feel forgotten or in the shadows you brought a light to her life as if she was a candle you had a physical quirk and while she does not so she promised to support you from the side lines

She was listening to the fight recording it and making sure it was going correctly until she hears your broken sobs your team mates had been too busy you were in the shadows and couldn’t get free from the villain he pointed his weapon to your head shooting you quickly then again for safe measures. Jirou heard the gun shots she prayed it wasn’t you it had to be someone else it just had to be. When she comes out from her spot she sees your dead body slouched on a wall blood flooding from your forehead a picture of you and Jirou falling out of your costume as she leans to you hugging your body silently sobbing and asking someone to help you

You’d made her feel like a lighten candle but as always you have to blow it out eventually

it had been like pulling teeth to get neito to go to the christmas market with her, yet, once there? he actually almost seemed to enjoy himself.

it wasn't often the students of u.a. were granted leave to go into the city. especially with all that's been happening as of late. but the holidays were an exception of course. and now that nearly all of the kids in their year had provisional licensces, principal nezu had allowed a trip to the market, supervised, of course.

the market was a lot of fun! there were stalls with food, games & prizes, people were caroling and santa was even there! and what would a christmas market be without hot chocolate?

ochako had been looking at a stall that was selling some hand made winter gloves, scarves, and the like when she felt a nudge to her side. when she turned, there was neito, spare hot chocolate in hand, for her. he cheeks were already flused a rosy red from the cold, but they may have grown a shade darker as she accepted the hot chocolate with a warm smile.

" thanks neito! " she grinned and took a sip, stealing a glance at him just as the cup left her lips. " you seem to be enjoying yourself, for someone who didn't want to come in the first place! " she was maybe a tad smug with that cheeky smile. just a tad.
