Otto chuckled and shook his head. “No sweetheart, we need to start today. The sooner we get it out of the way, the sooner we settle in. And then we get to enjoy our new home properly.” He smiled and opened one of the boxes, starting to unpack the plates into the cupboard. “If you want, you can start with your own room?”

She set her stuff down on the living room table before making her way to the kitchen. Catalina just smiled as she smelled her dad’s amazing cooking. “Yeah, I met some of our technically neighbors. They’re twins, they invited me out to the beach,” she said as she sat down and took a bite of her sandwich.

Otto raised a brow. “Technically neighbors?” He asked and nodded. “Sure, you can go. But if they try anything, just text me and i’ll come running. I’ll maul their asses.” He said. Otto wouldn’t hesitate to run over in his bear form to protect his daughter. “So what are their names? How old are they?” He asked, sipping his coffee.

She rolled her eyes and moved to the front of the bush. “If this is your attempt at attacking me, you’re doing a sorry job at it.”

When Otto didn’t come home that night, Catalina wasn’t too concerned. She knew that sometimes things happened and maybe that her dad fell asleep in the woods or something. But, the next morning and he wasn’t there, she started to panic. She tried his cellphone probably 100 times before actually going out and trying to find him, but nothing. Lina eventually went into town, which was a little hard considering her Finnish wasn’t the best, but a few of the local shop owners knew her and her dad, so word was spread around. Catalina had hope that he would be found since people tried to help her. However, one day she was at a local coffee shop when a few hunter were talking about a recent hunt and how they got themselves a nice big, brown bear for this winter.

Her blood ran cold and all breath left her body as suddenly everything went black and Lina passed out.

Otto wrapped his arms around her, when she came to hug him. “I do want you to have fun with your friends.. But you are my daughter and i wish that you respect my rules. If you’re late from your curfew, i’m going to get worried and come looking for you myself. If you’re home by your curfew, you’re showing me that i can trust you and i’ll be able to let you stay out late. Do you understand where i’m coming from?” 

"You're late..." (Otto)

“Sorry, the twins and I were down at the beach,” Lina said as she set down her wet clothes in the laundry room.

Otto was surprised how she got so excited of going to Finland for a vacation, but chuckled. “Sure, we can go. We could go for a week. I’m sure i have enough time in a week to show you everything.” He smiled. “Is there anywhere else you’d want to go for a vacation? Or take a trip somewhere? Like.. Niagra Falls or.. Disneyland? Grand Canyon?” 

For Otto: Catalina handed over a nicely wrapped box, “Happy Father’s Day.”

Otto raised a brow and looked up at her and then at the wrapped present. "Oh! Thank you, sweetheart." He smiled and kissed her cheek, taking the present. He sat down at the table to unwrap it. "I forgot it's Father's Day today." He chuckled. It was their second Father's Day together and it still came as a surprise to him. But as a pleasant one, of course.

“Yeah, boys, twin boys,” she said nervously. Lina was half expecting her dad to flip out and immediately want to hunt the two down, but she was glad that he didn’t. Though, she expected him wanting to walk her there. “Okay fair,” she said. Catalina finished up her sandwich before going to put on her bathing suit and brought her towel with her. She walked downstairs and slipped on her sandals, “Dad, ready to go?”

Otto hummed a bit and nodded, glad that she wasn’t going to protest. He just wanted to make sure that the boys were decent and that she would be safe with them. He finished soon after her and while Lina was getting ready, Otto cleaned up after them. He turned to her and raised a brow. “You are going to cover up, right?” Otto asked, walking over to put on his crocs. “At least put a shirt on, or a dress, or something. Please?”

Back at the cabin, Otto had made some sandwiches, incase Lina would be hungry when she comes back. He was just eating some himself, when he heard her come back. "I'm in the kitchen! I made sandwiches, if you're hungry." He said, taking another bite. He definitely loved being back in Finland again and especially with his daughter. "Did you have fun?"

When Catalina said that the boys had been naked, when they met, Otto’s eyebrows rose. “What? Naked?” He asked and frowned. 

“Uhh.. Y-Yeah, we were running around in the woods, when we heard and saw you and.. Of course we shifted, because we didn’t want to scare you and we’ve been told by our parents not to let anyone see us..” Steven said, rubbing his neck and Will blushed deep red. “W-We were covered tho.” 

“Of course..” Otto sighed, shaking his head. “Well. I think i feel enough reassured to leave my daughter alone with you two. But be warned, if you do or say anything wrong to her, i will be coming after you. And trust me, you don’t want a big, angry, protective grizzly bear coming after your asses.” Otto warned the boys, giving them a stern look.

Both boys nodded. “Of course. That’s definitely understandable.” Will said. “So.. If you don’t mind me asking.. What kind of a were are you, Sir?” Steven asked, getting nudged with an elbow by his twin. 

“I’m actually a werebear. I was born and raised in Finland, many centuries ago, but for the past century i’ve been living in the States and a couple years ago, i bumped into Catalina.” Otto smiled and turned his eyes on his daughter. “And i gave her a roof above her head and we created that father-daughter bond, so i decided to legally adopt her.” He smiled and kissed her forehead.

When Lina mentioned them being wolves and seeing paw prints out in the woods, he frowned. Firstly, because she hadn’t mentioned it sooner. But secondly, and mostly, because now their scent made more sense. “That depends on if they’re stupid enough to try and attack first..” He murmured and headed towards the boys, keeping his daughter behind him -- Just in case. 

Steven and Will looked at them, as they walked over. They could sense the dominance from the man, so they hung their heads lower in respect and to show they didn’t mean any harm. “Hello, Sir. I’m Steven and this is William. We live with our family a bit further away from here.” Steven spoke first. 

“I’m Otto. And you already met my daughter, Catalina.” Otto said, bringing an arm around her shoulders.

When they arrived to the beach, Otto looked over to the boys waiting for her. A strange scent wafted to his nose from them and he raised a brow. “Wait..” He said and moved his arm in front of Lina, stopping dead on his feet. “They’re not human.” 

Steven and Will were looking at the man arriving with her, cautiously. They could smell that he wasn’t really human either. “What is he, Steven?” Will whispered. “He’s not a werewolf, at least..” Steven whispered. “But she didn’t have the scent on her..” Will whispered back.

Otto frowned at how nonchalant she was about this. “Catalina, i’m letting you off with just a warning now. But next time, if you don’t understand how serious this is and you’re late again, then i’m grounding you.”

Otto chuckled, heading to the beach with her. “That depends completely on them.” He said. Otto was thinking if he would stay hiding for a while, to keep an eye on them. But he also wanted to trust her and show her that too.

Meanwhile, Steven and Will had already arrived to the beach and both were sitting on their towels in their swim shorts. “Think she’ll really come?” Will asked. Steven chuckled. “I bet she will.”

“Please?” Otto asked. It didn’t matter if there would be one boy or two, it didn’t matter how old they were. Otto would always be protective of his daughter. No matter how old she would be, too. “Thank you!” He called after her, when she went to put something on. When she came back, he smiled and kissed her forehead, before stepping outside. “Lets go meet these twins.” He chuckled. “Do you need your floaters on your arms?” He teased.

Otto stopped and looked up at her, when she said they were both boys. “Steven and William? Boys?” He asked. Otto thought about taking back his permission of letting her go with them. With two teenage boys. He just stared at her. “I’ll walk you to the beach. Just to meet them and if they’re okay, i will leave and let you have fun with them.”

Otto smiled as he unwrapped the present and seeing what was in it, made his smile  grew wider. “Wow! I definitely love this! I don’t think i have this one yet.” He said, flipping through the pages. “Thank you, sweetheart. This is amazing.” He smiled and leaned over to hug her. “And i was in need of a new book to read, too.” Otto chuckled. It was almost like a piece of the home he once had. “Remind me to take you to Finland someday. Maybe in the summer, we could go. Finland is very beautiful then.” He hummed smiling, looking through the book.

For Otto: Catalina handed over a nicely wrapped box, “Happy Father’s Day.”
