Sidney's POV
𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗜𝗥𝗟𝗦 are riding with me to Forks High School to enroll. I showered, got dressed, and grabbed my phone and car keys.
"Are you ladies ready yet?" I called throughout the house as I left my room.
"We're coming!" I hear Raelynn's voice yell from upstairs.
"Let's go," I said, touching my hips.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, different footsteps trotted down the steps.
"Jeez, we had to ensure we had all the correct papers," Autumn said as she descended the steps.
The rest of the girls came down dressed and ready. We left the house outside in my red Jeep Wrangler, and I drove to the school. As I pulled into a space, students went to their vehicles to get to class. Walking through the high school doors, I found the office, and we headed inside.
"Hello, how can I help you, ladies?" A woman at the front desk asked with a polite smile.
"Hi, we're here to enroll ourselves in school," I replied, returning the smile to her.
"Are you ladies of age?" The woman, whose name tag read Adalyn Mitchell, asked, looking at us.
"Yeah, and we live together," I answered, straightening the papers.
"Okay, just hand over your forms, have a seat, and wait for the principal, please." The front desk receptionist said with a smile on her face.
"What classes are you hoping to get?" I asked the girls, crossing one leg over the other.
"It doesn't matter to me. I can outsmart the nerds here." Audrey grinned, shrugging her shoulders.
"Yeah, that sounds right." I laughed, nodding my head.
Soon, the woman returned and handed us our documents before typing away on her computer. The receptionist told us to have a seat while she enrolled us in school since it would take a little while.
"Oh, since we're all here, what happened when you shifted the other night?" Jenny quietly asked, glancing around to ensure no one was watching us.
"Well, after I shifted, Nessia came to a clearing where Embry was waiting," I explained, thinking back to that night. "We talked, and he told me the truth."
"What truth?" Audrey questioned with a confused expression.
"The reason my brother, Paul, and Jared bullied me was that they saw me as weak since I'm from the Black Bloodline and hadn't shifted yet," I revealed, growing sad at the thought.
"That's fucked up," Autumn said, shaking her head as she hugged me.
"You know what? Let's go to Sam's place so I can fuck all four of them up." Jenny remarked, visibly upset.
"Calm down, sassy pants," Raelynn said, touching Jenny's shoulder.
"And what did Embry say Sam did about the situation?" Audrey questioned, glancing at me.
"I forgot to ask." I shrugged my shoulders.
"I bet he looked the other way. Fucking piece of shit." Jenny cursed, shaking her head with crossed arms.
"Either that, or he didn't have a care in the world," I replied, shrugging my shoulders.
"Imagine their faces if and when they find out you're a wolf and a strong one." Autumn teased as a smirk appeared on her face.
"That would be the best thing ever." Raelynn laughed, nodding her head.
"The look of defeat and disappointment in their eyes will be priceless." Autumn chuckled, staring off into space.
"Oh, let the games begin." Jenny laughed, rubbing her hands together.
The principal and secretary called us into the office and reviewed our schedule and school rules. After the lady at the front desk gave us our necessary paperwork, we exited the building, returned to my car, and got in. Autumn suggested we go to a coffee shop to get out of the house. Arriving at Frozen Bean Coffee Bar, we got out and headed inside, where the smell of coffee beans hit my nose. It smelled so good.
As we found an empty table, Autumn and Raelynn stood in line to order blueberry or banana muffins and iced coffee for everyone. I never get tired of it, seeing as I'm used to eating muffins from Emily.
"So, since we're on the topic of Sam and his pack, tell us about Embry, Sidney," Raelynn commented, sending a grin my way.
I gasped, causing myself to choke on my iced coffee as I glanced at her. "W-What about Embry?"
"What is he like?" Audrey asked with a sly grin on her face.
"In what way?" I questioned, arching an eyebrow at her.
"I don't know. What's Embry's favorite food or color?" She replied, smiling at me.
"Well, his favorite color is blue, and as far as food, I'm guessing any meat," I explained, shrugging my shoulders. "He's super sweet, though."
"You said he would always be nice to you when the other guys weren't around, right?" Raelynn asked, looking at me.
"Yeah, after Jacob, Paul, and Jared bullied me, he'd find me and make sure I was okay," I answered, chewing another piece of my blueberry muffin.
"Aww, that's so sweet." Autumn cooed, softly smiling at me.
"When the guys were around bullying me, it was as if Embry wanted to say something to them to get them to stop," I pointed out, swirling my straw in my cup.
"The main problem is Jacob, Jared, and Paul. Not Embry." Raelynn conceded, nodding in thought.
"Exactly what I thought," I replied, nodding in agreement.
"Just wait. If I ever come across those guys, it will NOT be pretty. I'll tell you that." Jenny remarked, shaking her head.
Upon hearing Jenny's meaningful comment, I smiled at her determined words. "I'm glad I have you girls as real friends."
"Aww, and we're glad we have you too." Audrey cooed as my friends wrapped me in a bear hug.
As they sat down, we continued chatting about what we wanted in our future with our mates. Just thinking about a life with Embry made me feel a way inside. It gave me butterflies picturing him as a father, but I loved it. I'm in love with that idea. Maybe it wasn't so bad.
Unlocking the house's front door, I walked inside first and heard the sound of the guys screaming at each other. Confused, I looked at the girls, and we raced to where they were. I found Drew holding baby Ella over the sink inside the butler's pantry with poop all over her back and on his arm.
"What the hell is going on?" I asked, staring at him with my hand on my hips.
"Diaper explosion. It's everywhere." He replied, gagging at the sight before him.
"Bro, we have to throw the whole baby away." I hear Xavier say from behind me.
"You will do no such thing." Raelynn gasped, turning to look at him.
"Look, calm down. All you have to do is clean Ella up, wash her, and redress her." Audrey replied, rolling her eyes.
"It's all over her seat and blankets, too," Drew replied as Raelynn turned on the faucet.
"Okay, we'll clean it," Jenna said, walking towards the living room.
I followed behind her and saw the explosion baby Ella had in her seat. Drew wasn't kidding when he said his daughter had poop everywhere. It was on her chair, the blanket, and the rug. Grabbing the pink baby blanket and the carpet, I headed to the laundry room and tossed them in the washer. While those were washing, I helped Jenna scrub the baby rocker. Finally, after baby Ella was cleaned up and changed into a new diaper, she was all smiles and giggles. As for Drew, he gagged all the way upstairs to his room for a much-needed shower.
Jacob's POV
I couldn't hold it in any longer. Why did we have to keep this curse a secret? It was stupid. Bella knew of vampires' existence, so what can't she know about wolves? Why can't she see that I'm a werewolf? This isn't fair.
' Jacob, get to the north end. NOW! We've got trouble. '
' I'm on my way, Sam. '
Opening my window, I leaped out and phased into my wolf as I ran to the destination Sam told me to meet him at. As I approached them from behind, the putrid smell of a vampire wafted into my nose, making me disgusted. The next thing I saw was Bella frozen in her tracks with the blood-sucking leech Laurent slowly stalking towards her.
' Let's move in. '
The pack and I slowly walked toward the blood-sucking leech stalking closer to Bella, emerging from the trees. Our snarls echoed through the trees as we revealed ourselves. Bella looked our way and gasped. I looked at her, and we stared at one another until Laurent took off using his vampire speed.
' Jake, let's go! '
Shifting back to human form, I slid on some shorts and followed the guys inside Emily’s place. As Sam walked inside, he glared at me and said nothing but stepped up to his fiance and kissed her cheek, making her giggle. Emily sat a basket of muffins on the table, and the guys dug in, munching away.
Sam dismissed us to go home and get some rest, but I couldn’t sleep. Not until I got this weight off my chest. Trotting to Bella’s house, I picked up a small pebble and tossed it at her window. When she didn’t come to the glass, I grabbed another and threw it up. Finally, a light in the room came on, and Bella appeared.
“Jacob?” She whispered, staring at me confused.
“Back up, I’m coming up,” I warned, moving far away.
I quietly leaped onto the side of the house, jumping to a large tree branch, and swung myself inside Bella’s room, making her gasp in shock. We stared at each other in silence before I broke it.
“Look, I’m sorry.” I apologized, walking up to my best friend.
Bella placed her hand on my abdomen, rubbing the muscles. She was quiet for a few seconds before speaking, “For what?”
“I wish I could explain, but I literally can’t.” I sighed, walking around her. I know Sam told me not to tell Bella our secret, but he didn’t say I couldn’t give her a hint. “Have you ever had a secret you couldn’t tell anyone? A secret that wasn’t yours to share?”
She stared at me, hugging herself as I sat on her bed. “What’s going on, Jacob?”
“Well, that’s what it’s like,” I replied, rubbing my hands together. “But it’s worse. You have no idea how tight I’m bound.”
“I hate this, Jacob. I hate what they’ve done to you.” Bella expressed, placing her hand on my head.
I brought her hand down and stared at the bite mark on her wrist. Her heart relaxed as she covered it with her free hand.
“The killer part is you already know.” I bitterly growled, standing to my feet. “Do you remember when we walked on the beach in LaPush, Bella?”
“What are you talking about? You mean the story of the cold ones?” Bella asked, staring at me.
“Of course that’s the only part you know.” I scoffed, shaking my head. Her eyes held realization, and I knew she got it.
I walked past her to the window, preparing to make my exit.
“I mean, there has to be something you can do.” She proposed, nodding approvingly.
“There’s nothing. I’m in it for life.” I replied, turning toward her.
“Well, what if we just leave here for a while? We leave. You and me.” Bella suggested, placing her hands on her hips.
“You’d do that for me?” I questioned, arching an eyebrow.
There was a pause as Bella shifted on her feet before she spoke, “I would do it for you.”
“Look, Bella, this is not something I can run away from. I would run if I could, but I can’t.” I mumbled, shaking my head.
“Look, Ja-I should probably get going.” I interrupted her before she could say anything. The look on Bella’s face made my heart ache. I didn’t like lying to her, so I chose to talk to her. “Come here.” I pulled her into a hug and held her.
“Jake.” She whispered, hugging me tighter.
“Please,” I whispered, rubbing her shoulder with my thumb. “Try to remember. It would be so much easier if you knew.”
Pulling away, I turned to the window. “I’ll try, but—Jake, what are you doing? Wait, Jake!”
I didn’t spare her a second glance as I leaped out of the window and ran home. In my mind, I knew Sam would have my head on a pike, but I didn’t care.

Jacob's POV
𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗡𝗢𝗪, 𝗜 was headed into town to meet Bella at the movies. We went to see Face Punch, and she brought some friends to school with her. As I pulled up on my bike, I parked it, walked around the building, and saw Bella standing in line to buy the tickets.
“So, are your friends here?” I asked Bella standing by her.
“Yea, over there.” She replied, nodding her head.
Walking in the direction of where her friends were, I found out that it was only one of her friends and discovered the boy that goes to school with her. He stood there awkwardly with his hands stuffed in his pockets.
“So Face Punch, huh? You like action movies?” I asked the kid with a grin on my face.
“Not really.” The boy replied, shaking his head.
“I heard it sucks…bad,” I said, nodding my head.
The boy stood around, shifting nervously on his feet as we waited. Was he nervous around me or what?
“You know, are you even old enough to see this movie? Without adult supervision?” He questioned, looking at me.
“Well, Bella’s buying my ticket, so.” I chewed on my cheek, wishing Bella would hurry up so I wouldn’t have to talk to the kid.
Bella finally walked over, and I let out a sigh of relief. If I had to talk to him any longer, I would’ve slapped him silly. He was getting annoying, and my patience was wearing thin.
“Well, Jessica bailed, and Angela’s sick, so Eric’s mending to her. It’s just the three of us.” Bella explained, handing me my movie ticket.
“Right,” I mumbled under my breath.
“Great, just the three of us.” Bella’s male friend nodded his head.
Awkwardly her friend followed and walked ahead of me as we headed inside. We found our seats at the bottom in theater room seven and sat down. As the movie continued, I could sense he was a nervous wreck. His heart raced in his chest as he grimaced at the blood and gore in the film. I knew this guy was a wimp the second I saw him.
Bella and I didn’t have a problem with the movie. The film wasn’t as bad as other people said it would be. I saw Bella’s hand resting on the seat's armrest from the corner of my eye and saw an opportunity to hold her hand. Smoothly I brought my hand up and touched her arm, but she moved it before I could. Sometimes it hurt knowing that she would never know my feelings for her.
I couldn’t tell Bella how I felt about her for fear of losing our tight friendship. Not having Bella in my life wasn’t something I was not looking forward to, and I dreaded that every day. As the movie progressed, I could hear Bella’s school friend grimace in disgust. A smirk appeared on my face at his discomfort. Yes, this boy is a weakling.
The kid, Mike, suddenly jumped to his feet and ran out of the theater room. Sharing a look with Bella, we both got up and followed behind him. Mike ran into the bathroom, holding his hand over his mouth.
“I’ll go check on him,” I said, and Bella nodded. Walking into the bathroom, I could hear the sound of Mike vomiting profusely. “Hey, you okay in there?”
The vomiting continued before he spoke, “Yea, j-just give me a minute.” Again Mike threw up in the toilet.
Shaking my head, I chucked before exiting the men’s restroom. I found Bella sitting on the steps, patiently waiting for me.
“Is he okay?” Bella asked me, concern evident in her tone.
"What a marshmallow. You should’ve brought someone with a stronger stomach. Someone who laughs at the gore that makes weaker men vomit." I explained, leaning against the staircase that led up to the second floor.
“Maybe it’s a stomach bug or something,” Bella replied, shrugging her shoulders.
“Yea, or he’s just a wimp.” I scoffed as a grin appeared on my face.
Bella giggled as she went to sweep her hair behind her ear. I took the opportunity to admire how beautiful she looked. This may be the right time to express how I felt.
“Listen, Bella, I-” Mike cut me off as he walked up, holding his stomach.
“How can you not get sick at the sight of all that gore?” Mike questioned, looking at Bella. “Look, guys, I need to go home. I’m feeling sick.”
My blood boiled as I looked up at him. “Yeah, if you’re sick, you should go to the hospital. In fact, how about I send you there myself.”
“Woah, Jake calm down,” Bella said, grabbing my wrist to stop me from lunging at Mike. “Wow, you’re shaking, and your skin is hot.”
Shit, I have to get out of here. I can’t believe I let Mike get under my skin and cause me to have the urge to phase right here in the theatre. Stomping out of the cinema, I walked around the building and got on my bike. Once it roared to life, I rode home angry. My body shook with rage, and the next thing I knew, my bones cracked and popped, rearranging. I phased into my wolf and ran into the woods as adrenaline coursed through my veins.
Sidney’s POV
“Wasn’t that your brother?” Autumn asked, pointing to the exit.
“Yea, with that awkward bitch I dislike,” I answered, nodding as I munched on popcorn.
“You don’t like her, huh?” Audrey questioned as she grinned.
“Hell yeah, she’s one of the reasons why Jacob bullied me. He always chose her instead of me.” I explained, averting my eyes from the resuming movie.
“She’ll get what’s coming towards her. One day.” Jenny replied with an evil smirk on her face.
"You got that right," I smirked, nodding in agreement.
"What are you thinking? I can see the wheels turning in your head." Audrey questioned with a sly smirk on her face.
"It wouldn't be a surprise if I spoiled it now, would it?" Jenny asked, taking a sip of her red slushie.
"You're right," Raelynn replied, nodding her head.
Quietly laughing, I grabbed some popcorn from Autumn and tossed some in my mouth with a smirk. I loved that my friends were protective of me and willing to go against Bella for me. The broad doesn't know what's coming her way.
After the movie was over, the girls and I left the theater, climbed in my Jeep, and I drove home. As I walked through the door, Kara and Mia's cries made me look at the girls warily. Walking into the living room, the twins lay in their seats crying as the guys ran around the kitchen, looking for something in the cabinets.
"WHERE'S THE FUCKING BOTTLE?!" Drew shouted, making the girls shake their heads.
I darted my eyes to the dining room table and shook my head. Grabbing the bottles, I sat them on the island, making them look up at us.
"Did any of you look on the dining room table?" I questioned, crossing my arms.
The guys stood there dumbfounded, glancing at each other. Autumn and I picked up the twins and carried them upstairs as Raelynn followed us. Audrey closed the bedroom door as I helped Raelynn get situated so she could breastfeed the babies.
"I swear the guys have a piece of a cell to make one brain." Autumn sighed, shaking her head.
"Yea, sometimes I wonder why the goddess paired Xavier and me together, but I love him," Audrey replied, shrugging her shoulders.
"You're right. You can't help but love those dweebs even if the boys have half of a brain cell." Autumn replied, laughing at her joke.
All the girls laughed as we glanced at each other. Sometimes being in the presence of my friends gave me something else to look forward to every day.
Embry's POV
Sam, Paul, Jared, and I stood in the woods as Jacob stood in wolf form. He finally phased, and right now, he was freaking out.
'How do I change back to a human?!'
'First, you have to calm down, Jake.'
'Holy shit Bella is going to freak out more than me!'
'You can't tell Bella about this.'
'Why?'
'She's running with those leeches. She can go back and tell them anything in us.'
'But she's my best friend, Sam.'
'I don't care, Jacob. She can't know anything.'
Sam used his Alpha voice on Jacob, making him kneel submissively. I shook my head, knowing that Jake would have a tough time knowing he was so attached to Bella. I felt Jacob would slip up and run his mouth off to her, putting us all in danger.
'How do I change back to human?'
'Think of yourself as human. What you look like.'
'There's clothes behind that big rock over there. Once you change to human, get dressed, and we'll head back to Sam's and talk.'
'Wow, state the obvious, Jared."
'I'm trying to help you, jackass.'
Jacob rolled his eyes and trotted over to the rock picking up the clothes in his mouth as he went behind a tree. I could hear Jacob's bones rearranging again and a groan from him. Finally, he stepped out and walked up to Sam.
"Welcome to the pack, man." Jared cheered, slapping Jacob on the shoulder.
As we arrived back at Sam and Emily's place, we howled, letting her know we were home and, like always, she was baking muffins.
"So Jacob, you joined the pack officially?" Emily asked, setting down a basket of fresh banana nut muffins on the table.
"Yea, I did." He replied, nodding his head. "So the stories my dad told me as a kid are true?"
I could sense the nervousness from Jacob as he reached for a muffin from the basket and hit into it but decided not to speak about it.
"Yea, we're the spirit warriors," Sam replied, walking over to Emily. He smiled at her as he peppered kisses all over her face.
I smiled, wishing I would have the same relationship with Sidney and hopefully soon.
Jacob's POV
It's been a couple of weeks since I spoke to Bella, and I knew she was anxious. It sucked that I couldn't talk to her – my only best friend. I guess you could say I liked her more than that. I've always had, ever since we were kids. Since I stopped talking to her, Bella had been calling me non stop begging and pleading to speak with her.
Bella was the only girl besides my sisters and mother that I was close with. My twin older sisters Rebecca and Rachael weren't around anymore. Rebecca married a surfer named Solomon Finau and moved to Hawaii with him. Rachael is away at college, leaving Bella to be around. I promised her I was always there for her whenever she was unhappy, and now I can.
Now that I'm part of Sam's pack, he's been having me patrol with Paul and Jared from 6 am to 6 pm, and it's honestly draining. All I do now is surveillance the borders and sleep day and night. I woke up this morning realizing I was late for patrolling with Jared. I threw on a pair of shorts and my shoes before leaving. As I started walking towards the trees, a voice stopped me.
"Jake!" She called out, making me. "You cut your hair and got a tattoo?"
"What about it, Bella?" I sighed, shrugging my shoulders.
"What happened to you? You stopped calling me and - We can't be friends anymore, Bella." I interrupted her before she could finish.
"What, why?" Bella questioned, shaking her head. "Is it because of Sam?"
"No, it's not because of him," I replied as the rain came down harder on the two of us.
"Is it because of your sister? Did she tells you what happened at school?" Belle asked, blinking her eyes rapidly from the water.
"What? No." I sighed, staring at her, confused. "Don't blame them, Bella."
"Well, I don't know who else to blame. You're not telling me anything!" Bella whined, waving her arms.
"If anything, blame yourself. Sam's only trying to help me." I replied, rolling my eyes.
Bella grew silent as I turned and ran toward Sam, Jared, Paul, and Embry. My heart shattered as I tried to get the image of Bella's face out of my mind.

Embry’s POV
𝗣𝗔𝗨𝗟, 𝗝𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗗, 𝗝𝗔𝗞𝗘 and I shifted into our wolves and headed North of the border. Since Sidney returned and I imprinted on her, Jacob has been ignoring me–keeping his distance. I can understand how he feels about his little sister being my imprint. But I can't understand why he now wants to play the brother of the year.
Where was this brother of the year when not only him but Paul and Jared bullied his little sister? Out of all of us, I was the one that went behind their backs to make sure Sidney was okay. I ensured she had someone to talk to about her problems when she couldn’t sleep at night. Not Jacob. Sometimes I don’t understand him.
Speaking of Sidney, it was good to see her again. Although we weren’t that close, it was still good to see her alive. After she jumped off that cliff, it ripped my heart out. I think it was because I imprinted on her years ago. After I shifted for the first time, Jacob brought her to Emily’s.
No one knew that it happened, but it did, and I kept it to myself. I kept it secret all these years.
As I trailed beside Jared, the images of Sidney flashed in my mind. The way she looked from head to toe, her dark hair flowing down her back, the beautiful smile that seemed to get brighter when she laughed. Everything about her puts me in a trance when she’s around. Hearing a snide cackle from beside me, I looked up at Jared.
‘He’s whipped already.’
‘Yea, and she hasn’t even talked to him yet.’
‘Whatever, you can shut up now.’
‘You knuckleheads wouldn’t understand anyway.’
‘Understand what, Embry? You’re in love with Sidney?’
‘As I said, you guys wouldn’t understand.’
Shaking my head, I knew this wouldn’t be the last time I heard this teasing.
Sidney’s POV
Autumn and I sat at the kitchen table in Emily’s house, laughing as she baked her specialty muffins. My best friend decided to come along with me so she could meet one of my favorite ladies. Overall, Emily liked Autumn as she does anyone she meets.
“I like her.” Autumn grinned as she bit into a blueberry muffin.
“See, I told you so.” I smiled, nodding my head.
“Who’s the other lady you wanted me to meet?” My best friend questioned, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.
“Oh, her name is Leah. She’s a part of Sam’s pack.” I answered, nodding as I checked the time on my phone. “They should be here in a little bit.”
“Autumn, how did you meet Sidney? If you don’t mind me asking.” Emily asked, leaning against the counter.
"Well, believe it or not, I found her on the side of the road. Her clothes were wet, dirty, and ripped, so I asked her if she wanted to come to my house, and we've been friends ever since," Autumn explained, making Emily smile.
“That’s so sweet of you.” Emily nods, crossing her arms.
“Yeah, I couldn’t resist this cute face.” Autumn pursed her lips as she pinched my cheek, making me blush.
“Stop,” I said, covering my cheeks in shyness.
“You know I love you. You’re my other half other than Lorenzo.” Autumn said, pulling me into a hug.
“Anyway, watch your back for Paul and Jared when the mutts get here.” I cautioned, taking a piece of her muffin and eating it. “They have girlfriends and are annoying.”
“Oh, so they’re those types of guys?” Autumn questioned, nodding her head.
“Yea, especially Paul,” I replied, rolling my eyes and nodding.
“Ah, note taken.” She nodded, narrowing her eyes. “Can’t make any promises if they approach me the wrong way and one of them ends up on the floor.”
I laughed as Autumn shrugged her shoulders. She was the one that always resorted to violence when it came to boys that shouldn’t act as if they were single. She didn’t have a problem setting the opposite sex straight when they approached her. A while passed—twenty minutes when we heard laughter and chatting voices. Glancing at Autumn, we gave each other the same look and sat there.
The first to walk into the house was Jared and Paul. They gasped, glancing at each other, then ran towards the kitchen table, shoving each other out of the way.
“Hello, beautiful I’m Paul.” Paula introduced himself to Autumn as she hesitantly shook his hand.
“And I’m Jared. The cutest.” Jared smiled, brushing his eyebrows.
“I’m none of your concern,” Autumn replied, grinning, but it was fake. I could tell she didn’t like Paul and Jared.
“Oh, I love my girls feisty,” Paul said, leaning closer to Autumn.
Autumn looked at me, raising her eyebrow, saying she was close to punching Paul, and I put my hands up, telling her to go for laying Paul out.
“That’s nice. I like my guys unconscious on the floor.” Autumn explained, smirking at the hothead. “Now, if you don’t want that to be you, I’d suggest you back up.”
Paul stared Autumn down. The silence between them was so tense that you could cut it with a knife. I saw my best friend clench her right hand, ready to swing at any moment if Paul made sudden movements. The smile on his face fades away as he backs away from Autumn.
“Oh damn.” I laughed, shaking my head.
“I think you made a good choice Paul,” Autumn spoke, grinning.
“Come on, Paul,” Jared said, putting his hand on Paul’s shoulder.
“Yea, Paul, I’d suggest you go.” Autumn held a sly smirk on her face. I could sense that Paul wanted to say something to her, but he decided against it.
“Wow, you got shut down by a girl.” I laughed and received a glare.
“Even if I did give you a chance. I have a boyfriend.” My best friend replied, shaking her head.
“What’s his name, Casper?” Paul scoffed, rolling his eyes.
“No, it’s Lorenzo, and he’s way taller than you,” Autumn said, scanning her eyes over Paul’s form. “He also wouldn’t like how you’re approaching me either.”
“Paul, just back away,” I warned him, and he glanced at me before walking to the living room.
“Whatever.” I hear Paul mutter under his breath.
“You know Paul. It would be a shame if Rachael found you’re not being faithful.” I said, staring at Autumn, whose grin got wider.
“Oh shit.” I hear Jared whisper.
“That goes for you too, Jared,” I replied, glancing at the boys from around Autumn’s body.
“Alright, Sidney, that's enough,” Emily said, putting a hand on my shoulder.
“You’re so mean.” My idiot brother said, grabbing a muffin from the basket.
“No, I’m just assertive,” I replied, rolling my eyes. “Anyway, Leah, this is my best friend Autumn.”
“Nice to meet you,” Leah said, shaking Autumn's hand.
“Same here, and you’re good-looking too,” Autumn said, winking at Leah.
Leah blushed, brushing her hair behind her ear. “T-Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Do you maybe want to go hang out sometime?” Autumn flirted, smiling at a flustered Leah.
“Oh my god Autumn, stop hitting on Leah.” I groaned, not believing what my best friend was doing.
“What? She’s cute. I’m cute. We can be cute together.” She replied, shrugging her shoulders.
“Don’t you have a boyfriend?” I asked, crossing my arms.
“Leo won’t mind. He’s into that kind of thing.” Autumn replied cheekily, smiling.
“Autumn, I did not need to know that.” I closed my eyes and tried to get the image she had just put there.
“Well, it’s the truth. So Leah, do you want to hang out sometime?” Autumn waved me off, shrugging her shoulders.
“Sure, I’d love to.” Leah accepted, nodding her head.
“Great, I’ll call you when I have the details.” Autumn clapped her hands together. She pulled out her phone, typed Leah’s number, and smiled.
Although he was silent, I rolled my eyes and continued talking with Leah, Seth, Jacob, Emily, and my mate. He kept glancing at me when he didn’t think I noticed, but I did. I smirked and pulled out my phone, sliding it on the table to Embry. The look on his face made me giggle. Blush spread across my mate's face as he typed his number into my phone.
I grabbed it off the table and talked with Autumn and Leah about ordinary female things. Sometimes I thought that maybe Leah needed female companions in her life, not the males in the pack. Especially Sam. Her former imprint. The man she was supposed to love, but he imprinted on her cousin. That's fucked up in a way. I could understand how it feels to be betrayed by your family.
If I'm honest, I applaud Leah. She's strong enough to act cordial seeing her former imprint with his new lover. It pains me knowing that she wouldn't experience what someone loving you would be.
Seconds turned into minutes which changed to hours before I decided it was time for Autumn and me to head home.
"It was nice meeting you guys. Well, except for you, Paul and Jared." Autumn announced, waving her hand, laughing at Paul's expression.
"I'll see you guys later," I said, waving at everyone and hugging Emily and then Leah.
"Goodbye, Sidney, and nice meeting you too, Autumn." Emily grinned, waving at us as we walked out of the house.
We got on our bikes, placed our helmets on our heads, and rode home. The ride home was peaceful. I stopped my bike, stared at the trees, and heard various birds chirping.
"This is so peaceful." Autumn sighed, staring at the high trees.
"It is, isn't it?" I nodded, smiling at her.
After ten minutes of soaking in the quietness, I started my bike up and proceeded home. Shutting our motorcycles off, Autumn unlocked the front door and walked inside the kitchen, and Dimitri greeted us.
"How was visiting your brother and his friends?" Dimitri asked as I opened the fridge, grabbing a water bottle.
"The visit was eventful. Autumn got hit on by one of his friends, and you should've seen his face when she put him down." I explained to Dimitri, laughing.
"Where's my lover?" Autumn asked our friend.
"Enzo's out back working on his motorbike," Dimitri said, biting into his sandwich.
Autumn's POV
As I walked out to the back of the house to the garage, I heard rock n roll music playing. The source of the music was the stereo sitting on the corner table, so I turned it down, making my boyfriend and soulmate turn and look at me.
"Hey, babe," Lorenzo greeted me, wiping his hands on an old rag as he stood up.
"Hello, lover." I smiled as he leaned down and placed a kiss on my lips.
"How did hanging with Sidney go," Enzo asked me, returning to working on his bike.
"Good, although a couple of Jacob's friends were hitting on me," I said, sitting in a chair and making my mate growl. One thing Lorenzodidn'tt like was males shooting their shot at me, but he knew me and knows how quick I make those guys look stupid." You should've seen their faces when I put them down, and Sidney threatened to tell their mates. Hilarious"
"Were they upset?" Lorenzo asked, a smirk appearing on his beautiful face.
"Highly," I grinned, nodding my head.
"That's my girl," He said, turning my cheeks red. There has always been something about how my mate says good girl or that's my girl that makes me tingle inside.
"So you've been working on your bike all day?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"Yea, I didn't want to keep putting it off, so I decided to work on it," Lorenzo replied, nodding his head.
"Oh, also, I met a new friend," I replied, remembering I got Leah's phone number.
"Did you now? What's their name?" My mate asked, tightening a bolt on the motorbike.
"Leah, and she's cute." I proclaimed, swinging my leg that I crossed over the other.
"Leah, huh? And you say she's cute, eh?" Lorenzo questioned, turning to me with his eyebrow raised. "I'll have to see her for myself."
"You'll think she's cute too, but guess what?" I replied cheekily, grinning.
"What?" Lorenzo asked me, with a wrench in his hand.
"From what Sidney told me, Leah's mate is Sam, the Alpha of their small pack, but he rejected her because his mate turned out to be her cousin," I explained, watching Lorenzo turn to me with shock evident on his face.
"You're kidding?" He questioned, stunned.
"No, Leah's the only girl in the pack," I said, shaking my head. "Imagine seeing your cousin that took the man you love and having to act as if it doesn't bother you? I wouldn't be able to do it."
"That's will. Maybe she has a second chance, mate, out there somewhere." Lorenzo pointed out, nodding his head.
"You could be right." I nodded my head, agreeing with him.
I sat there watching Lorenzo work more on his bike and had to go inside because I couldn't handle watching his muscles flex and hearing his grunt as he twisted different bolts.
"Autumn, go in the house and take a cold shower." I hear my mate say, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"W-Why?" I questioned, clenching my thighs together.
"I can smell your arousal, and it's distracting me." He growled, not turning to face me.
"Fine." I huffed, standing to my feet and walking out of the garage. As I walked inside the house, I found one of our pack members, Jenny, sitting in the kitchen with her mate Dimitri. "Where's Sidney?"
"I think she went up to her room," Jenny replied, nodding her head.
"Thanks," I said and headed up the stairs.
Approaching Sidney's bedroom door, I raised my hand and knocked before hearing her voice from the opposite side. "Come in."
As I opened the door, I saw Sidney lying in bed with her arms over her eyes, shielding them from the hallway's light.
"What's wrong?" I asked, sitting next to her on the bed.
"I felt dizzy, so I came up here to lay down for a little bit," Sidney replied, turning to me, still on her side.
"How long has it been since you shifted and let Nessia out to stretch her legs?" I asked, running my hands through her dark hair.
"About a month." She sighed, shrugging her shoulders.
"Babe, you have to let her run," I said to my best friend giving her a small smile.
"I know if I do, she'll want to find her mate," Sidney mumbled, shaking her head.
"Sidney, Nessia is going to do that regardless," I claimed, laughing as I caressed her cheek.
"Okay fine, I'll go." Sidney huffed, sitting up in bed.
Helping my best friend out of her bed, we headed out the back of the house. As Sidney stripped of her clothes, I told the other girls that she was shifting to keep the guys inside.
'Girls, Sidney is shifting, so keep the guys inside the house.'
'You got it.'
'On it.'
'Ditto.'
My best friend screamed as the sound of her bones cracking and popping echoed through the night sky. Her body reshaped and grew snow-white fur. Sidney shifts into her wolf finally and releases a howl into the quiet night.
Nessia blinks at me, and I nod, allowing her to take off. As time passed, I sat on the back porch and waited.
Embry's POV
The sound of a howl in the distance made my ears perk up. I jumped out my bedroom window, shifting midair as I landed on the ground before taking off in the direction of the sound. My wolf fought harder to reach the destination until he got the smell of a sweet scent. It was all too familiar to him and me.
'What's that smell?'
'It's the scent of our mate.'
'Go to her.'
'Don't have to tell me twice.'
His paws thudded on the soft wet ground as he ran faster toward the sweet smell. Finally, we came to a clearing and stopped. He looked around when the sound of a branch breaking caught our attention—a set of golden yellow eyes staring back at us in front of us.
'Sidney?'
The snow-white wolf blinked, nodding its head. 'Yes, it's me.'
'H-How are you able to speak in my mind?'
'We're mates Embry.'
My wolf and Sidney's slowly stalked toward each other warily. They pressed their heads against one another, and sparks instantly began flying.
'I-I don't know what to say. You being a wolf is cool.'
'I want you to promise me something.'
'Sure, what is it?'
'After I leave, I want you to forget you saw me as a wolf and not tell your pack, including my brother.'
'Why what-'
'You have to. I don't want your pack to know yet. Please.'
'Okay, I'll keep it a secret.'
'But I have to know something. Why did Jared, Paul, and Jacob bully me all those years ago?’
'They saw you as weak because you come from the Black bloodline and haven't shifted yet.'
'Of fucking course they did.'
'But I didn't see you as that.'
'Why didn't you save me when I leaped from the cliff?'
'I had to pretend to be on their side. If I'm honest with you, I've always had a crush on you.'
'You did?'
'Y-Yea, I did, but I knew that if I approached you on it, the guys would make fun of me for it.'
'Well, since you confessed, I guess I will too. I've always liked you too, but I thought you didn't like me because you were on their side.'
'Of course, I liked you. I mean, why wouldn't I.'
'You're adorable.'
"T-Thanks, I guess.'
"Listen, I have to get back home, but I'll talk to you later.'
'Okay, you know how to find me when you need to.'
'Goodbye, Embry.'
'Bye, Sidney.'
Standing there, I watched Sidney's wolf glance at me one last time before taking off deep into the woods. As I headed home, I couldn't believe that Sidney finally shifted, and it was a pure white one. Maybe there's a book or something about a white wolf in the Quileute Tribe book. I'll have to ask someone about that.

Sidney's POV
𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗠𝗬 𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗠𝗘𝗧 on my head, I turn the key in the ignition on my motorcycle, and it roared to life. I straddled the saddle and rode away from my house. I'm on my way to pay Sam and his ‘’pack’’ a visit. They don't even know I'm coming–hell, they don't even know I'm alive. Four years ago, the pack bullied me, including my brother. How fucked up is that? Your blood tormented you once he joined Sam’s club.
The pack bullying me made me so hurt and unwanted that I concluded to faking my death. After Paul and my brother Jacob verbally and physically abused me on a cold stormy night, I’ve had enough and left Sam’s place. As I slowly walked to the cliffs with the pack in tow, I turned to them as they laughed. All of them cackled except for Embry. He was always friendly and caring to me.
I gave them a slight smirk and fell backward off the cliff. Do you want to know what's wrong with that? The only person I saw peek over that cliff was Embry as I fell. Not my brother, whom I would’ve thought cared for me. Once I hit the water, I swam more profoundly, ensuring that they didn't see me. A shiver ran through me as
I surfaced and walked on land on the far side of the water. My clothes stuck to my body, and I felt the rain come down heavier–slapping against my face. I sighed, trying to catch my breath as I glanced at the place I used to call home. I wrapped them around myself with shaking hands as I headed through the woods until I found a road and began walking wherever my feet carried me. I didn’t have a clue where, but I kept on walking.
I know that this won’t be the last time they see me.
The ride to LaPush, Washington, to Sam's little cabin was peaceful. I got to clear my mind and think of what to say when I see them again after the years I’ve been away.
Arriving at the little cabin house, I can see everyone sitting down at the table. The sound of my bike made them all look at me. Turning off my motorcycle, I sat there as my eyes scanned everyone standing in front of me: Jacob, Paul, Jared, Sam, and even Embry. A smirk came to my face under my helmet as Sam was the first to speak.
"Who are you, and why are you here?" Sam questioned, and I sighed, shaking my head.
"You guys don't remember me do you?" I inquired and slowly took off my helmet.
Everyone’s eyes went wide, especially my brother Jacob’s, once my helmet was off. I fixed my dark hair smirking at the shock and disbelief expressions on their faces.
"Sidney?" Jacob asked in disbelief, not believing what he was seeing.
"In the flesh, big brother," I replied, grinning at him.
"What happened to you? We thought you were dead when you jumped off the cliff." Jacob asked, getting closer as if he cared.
"Well, I didn't." I shrugged nonchalantly.
"Where have you been all this time?" Jacob asked, and I sighed.
"Outside of town living with a friend," I respond, stuffing my gloves inside my helmet.
Suddenly a squeal comes from behind the guys. I see Emily running out of her home and over to me. Meeting her halfway, I pulled Emily into a hug and held on tight to her.
"I can't believe you're back. I missed you." Emily beams with excitement, squeezing me.
"I missed you too," I said, smiling at her.
"So, what are you doing back?" Emily asked, pulling away with a smile on her face.
"Wanted to drop by and say hi," I replied, nodding my head.
"Oh, I just made muffins. Come on and eat." Emily proposed grabbing my hand.
"Are you sure?" I questioned unsurely, giving her a look.
"Yes, I'm sure now come on." She nodded, tugging me along.
We followed Emily inside the house and walked past the living room to the kitchen. The boys ran past us and beat me to the table. I looked over to Jacob, pushed him off the chair, and sat down, making the other boys laugh.
"Wow, Jacob, your sister is stronger than you." Paul laughed, grabbing a muffin from the basket.
"No, she isn't." He objected, getting up off the floor.
"How did she push you off the chair?" Jared questioned, picking a muffin from the basket.
"Don't know, and I don't care," Jacob shrugged, shaking his head.
Smiling, I laughed as I grabbed a blueberry muffin out of the muffin basket that sat on the table.
"You guys are something else, and you eat like pigs." I joked, shaking my head.
"Hurtful," Jared responds, making me roll my eyes.
"It's true," I mumbled, shrugging my shoulders.
"Still, it's hurtful," Jared said, and as I glanced over at Embry, I saw him staring at me.
"Hello, earth to Embry. Are you okay?" I asked, snapping my fingers at him.
Out of nowhere, my wolf Sarina started to stir awake. She became alert at the scent of her mate.
‘Mate! Mate! Mate!’ Sarina screamed in my head. She was jumping around, doing flips in my stomach. So giddy, but I wasn’t.
Oh my god, no. Not Embry, why him? Why now? Out of all people. I can't believe he's my mate. For some reason, it didn't come as a shock to me. It had to do with how he showed me some compassion years ago. Unlike Paul, Jacob, Quil, and Jared, Embry was never mean to me. He was overall friendly to me. Everyone looked at Embry as my heart thudded wildly in my chest. Their eyes went wide and then erupted into fits of laughter.
"Hey, Jacob, looks like Embry imprinted on your sister," Jared announced, and his eyes went wide.
I glanced at Jacob with nervousness in my eyes to see that he looked pissed off. Jacob stared intensely at Embry, and Embry stared right back at my brother, not moving. I could sense my mate was unsure of what to do next.
Jacob's POV
Anger flowed through my veins as I paced back and forth outside and waited for Embry. How fucking dare he imprint on my sister. I know I wasn't the best brother back then, but now that she's back, I want to be better and protect her. My eyes burned holes in Embry's face as I stared at him. Sam stood in between us as he saw the expression on my face.
"You imprinted on my sister?" I seethed, shaking and charging at him, but Sam held me back.
"I'm sorry, Jake, but you know we can't control it." He apologized, shaking his head.
"Out of all people, you imprint on my sister who came back after four years!" I yelled, waving my arms around.
“Well, maybe if you didn't have your head so far up your ass, you would’ve seen the fucking signs!” I heard Sidney’s voice yell at me as she walked out to the back.
“What are you talking about, Sidney? What signs?” I questioned, eyeing her as she stood protectively in front of Embry.
“The signs that he had or has feelings for me!” Sidney yelled in my face, and everyone went silent. “If you weren’t so busy following Sam like a lost fucking puppy, you would’ve seen that he likes me. Embry was the ONLY one who showed me some decency, unlike the three of you.”
“Sidney, I-I-,” Jacob stuttered dumbfounded.
“You’re what? Sorry?” I questioned, cutting my brother off, knowing that’s all he could say. “You’re sorry for making me feel the lowest of the low? For bruising me up? Huh?!”
“Yes, I-I’m sorry.” Jacob apologized, nodding his head.
I scoffed, not believing him, and turned to Sam. The ‘’Alpha’’ of the pack. “And you. You’re just as fucked up as them for letting it happen.”
“Sidney, I tried-,” Sam began to say, but I cut him off.
“You didn’t try to do shit, Sam. You turned a blind eye just like my father did. Why?” I sniffled, wiping my face. “Was it because I wasn’t a wolf yet?”
“No, it’s not that,” Sam replied, shaking his head.
“Then what was it?” I questioned, crossing my arms.
“I don’t know. I have no clue why the guys did what they did, but after they told me you leaped off the cliff, and we couldn’t find your body, I punished them for it.” Sam replied, sighing as he shook his head.
“Oh, yea? What did you do? Send them running through the forest?” I questioned, determined to get my answer.
“I made them do push-ups until they passed out in the rain,” Sam said with authority in his tone.
“Push-ups great.” I scoffed, nodding my head.
I placed my hands on top of my head and decided it was best if I took a walk. Hearing footsteps follow behind me, I knew by the scent it was Leah.
“Hey, you okay?” She asked, and I turned to her.
“No, I’m fucking angry, Leah,” I complained as I leaned against a tree. “What did I do? I want answers.”
“I know, and I’m sorry I wasn’t there to help you.” Leah apologized, pulling me into a hug.
“It’s not your fault.” I sniffled, hugging her back.
“I should’ve done something to help,” Leah replied, shrugged shoulders.
"What did I do, Leah? I don't understand." I started at my friend as tears fell down my face again.
"I don't know. Maybe one day you'll get your answers." Leah spoke as she wrapped me in her arms and held me.
We stayed there just basking in the silence until I heard yelling. It had me confused, so I glanced at Leah, and she held the same expression as me. As we got closer to the sound, I saw Jacob yelling in my mate's face. I started jogging but picked up speed as I saw my brother stepping closer to Embry. Having enough of Jacob being a fucking bully, I tackled him to the ground.
"DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE!!" I roared in his face, pretty sure with my eyes glowing.
Jacob stared at me with a confused expression as I slowly stood to my feet. I pulled him off the ground, and he dusted himself off.
"I'm sorry, Sidney." Jacob apologized, reaching a hand out to me.
I glanced down at his hand and then walked inside Emily's house. The silence in the room created tension so thick you could cut it with a knife. No one dared say anything after what happened outside, and that was how I wanted it to be.
More time passed as I continued covering with Sam and his pack as if nothing had happened outside. My phone started ringing, and when I took it out, I saw an incoming call from Autumn. Getting up, I stepped outside to answer the call.
Hello?
Autumn🌹🍂- Are you still at Emily's?
Yes, why?
Autumn🌹🍂- Raelynn is going into labor.
Shit, I thought that wasn't until next month.
Autumn🌹🍂- That's what we thought too.
Okay, I'm on my way.
Autumn🌹🍂- Alright, bye.
Releasing a huff, I stuck my phone back in my pocket and walked inside the house.
"I'm sorry, guys, but it looks as if I have to cut this visitation short," I announced, making them look up at me.
"Why?" Jared whined like a child.
"My friend is getting ready to have a baby, so I have to go," I responded, shrugging my shoulders.
"Will you come back and visit again?" Emily asked, wrapping her arms around me.
"Of course." I smiled, nodding my head. "See you guys,"
I waved at them as I walked outside, hopping on my bike. It rumbled to life and rode to my house, hidden deep in the woods. Once I arrived home, I quickly got off my bike and ran inside, where I heard screaming from Raelynn's bedroom.
"She's here okay," Autumn said as I walked into the bedroom.
My first instinct was to comfort Raelyyn because she wanted me to be the one to bring her twins into the world. She wanted me to be here and coach her through this tough time in her life.
"F-Finally." Raelynn groaned in pain.
"I didn't expect them to be here so soon," I apologized, brushing her matted hair behind her ear.
"Well, they're COMING!" Raelynn yelled as another contraction hit.
"How far are your contractions?" I asked, grabbing a towel.
"I say they're eight minutes apart," Autumn replied, placing a wet towel on Raelynn's forehead.
Walking to the front of Raelynn, I peeled up her gown and saw a tiny head full of hair. "Okay, listen, are. I see the head, so I need you to give me a good push."
"It hurts." She whimpered, clenching Autumn's hand.
"I know, sweetie, but you have to push for me," I replied reassuringly, looking into her eyes.
Raelynn nodded her head, taking a deep breath and giving me a push. As I saw baby A's head, I softly pulled on it. The shoulders passed through, and she gave me one last big push, and the first baby was born.
"Come on, babe, you can do it. The second baby is right there." Autumn replied, glancing down.
The second baby was right at the opening, waiting to come out. Raelynn screamed and pushed baby number two down. Approximately three minutes passed, and baby Ella was born right after her sister. Autumn helped me clean the twins off before we wrapped them in blankets and set them on Raelynn's chest.
"They're beautiful, Rae," I said, smiling at her as I leaned down to kiss her forehead.
"Thank you, Sid." Raelynn smiled, looking down at her babies.
There was a knock on the door, and Raelynn's mate Drew quietly walked in and sat beside his soulmate. He gently picked up Ella and kissed her forehead. Drew held so much love and adoration in his eyes as he cuddled up with Raelynn and his daughters.
"Call me if you guys need anything." I smiled, kissing Raelynn on the head. I gave Drew a gentle squeeze on his hand, but before I walked out the door, Raelynn stopped me.
"Water and food." Raelynn gave me a small smile, and I nodded my head.
"Coming right up," I said and left the room.
Walking downstairs to the kitchen, I got Raelynn a cup of water with ice to keep it cold and made her a ham & cheese sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes as she liked. I picked up the plate and cup, carried them up to Raelynn, and set it down on the bed within her reach.
"Thanks again, Sid." raelynn praised, chewing on her meal.
"You're more than welcome," I replied, leaving her room again.
I wanted Raelynn and Drew to bond with their pups as much as possible, seeing as they're newborns, so I went to my room and washed my hands before relaxing in bed.

Sidney’s POV
𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗧 𝗦𝗔𝗠 and Emily’s place, I got off my bike and shut off the engine. I walked onto the porch, and before I could knock, the front door opened, revealing Emily.
“Hey, you made it.” Emily smiled, wrapping me into a tight hug.
“Yea, I figured why not come back.” I laughed, shrugging my shoulders.
It wasn’t that I didn’t want to see Emily because I did, but I honestly didn’t want to be around Sam’s pack. Being around them again is still bittersweet for me, if I'm honest. As Emily allowed me inside, she closed the door, and the scent of fresh-baked muffins hit my nose. The sweet smell also made my stomach growl seeing as I didn’t eat when I left my house.
“Sidney, I’m so glad you decided to come around.” Emily smiled, taking a pan of freshly baked muffins from the oven.
“Yea, well, after what I endured from the dogs years ago, you can’t blame me for not wanting to come around,” I explained, shaking my head. “Where are they anyway.”
“I don’t blame you, Sidney. I would’ve left also.” Emily replied motherly, nodding her head. “Oh, they’re with Sam patrolling.”
“Oh, okay,” I said, nodding my head understandably.
“How are your friend and her baby?” Emily asked, placing the muffins in a basket and setting them on the table.
“Her and the babies are good? Doing well.” I replied, grabbing a blueberry muffin and biting into it before speaking, “They’re healthy and alive.”
“Wait, babies?” Emily questioned in shock, looking at me.
“Yes, she had twin girls. Named Kara and Mia.” I replied as Emily handed me a glass of cold water.
“Aww, that is too cute,” Emily said with a smile. “Maybe I can get her a gift.”
“Emily, that’s nice of you, but you don’t have to,” I assured her, shaking my head.
“Nonsense, I’m getting her a gift. That is the end of discussion.” Emily asserted, waving her finger at me.
“Okay fine.” I nodded, raising my hands in surrender.
Emily giggled, which made me smile. If I’m honest, Emily is probably the only person I have missed since I left LaPush. The one thing I missed most about Emily was her delicious baked goods. With how good she cooks, she could open up her bakery.
“You should’ve seen the look in the father’s eyes as he stared at them. It made my heart swell.” I swooned, imagining the look that appeared on Drew’s face.
“I believe that every father should look at his children like that because he is to protect mother and child.” Emily expressed, and I agree with her.
“That is so true,” I said, nodding my head.
We continued talking peacefully, but that was interrupted by the loud yelling and chattering coming from outside, and I knew the dogs were there.
“The dogs are here.” Emily joked, grinning at me.
Laughing, I saw the boys pushing each other like they always do as they made their way inside. They piled at the table where Emily sat a basket of fresh hot muffins on the table. Sam walked up to his fiancé and kissed her sweetly on the lips, then left little pecks over her face making her giggle. I smiled, seeing the affection the couple shared. My heart longed for love like that from my mate.
To have him hold me in his arms and pepper my face with kisses every time he sees me. I wanted my mate to constantly stare at me with love in his eyes every minute of the day. Is it so hard to ask someone to love me?
“How was patrolling?” I questioned, looking at my brother.
"It was good, but how did you know we were on patrol?" Jacob questioned, sitting at the table.
"A little bird flew in through the window and told me," I replied, grinning at him.
“Let me guess her name’s Emily the canary?” My dumb brother questioned.
“Duh. Jesus, you do have one brain cell.” I claimed, rolling my eyes.
“Oh, Jake, she told you.” Paul teased, sitting at the table. He grabbed a blueberry muffin and bit into it.
“Whatever,” Jacob grumbled, shaking his head.
“Teaches you to mind your business,” I replied, smirking at my brother.
“Enough, Sidney. Stop bullying your brother,” Emily said, placing a soft hand on my shoulder.
“He knows I mean no harm.” I lied with a smile, wrapping my arms around Jacob’s neck.
“Is that how you show it?” He questioned, raising an eyebrow.
“Damn straight.” I nodded my head, eating another muffin.
“You’ve changed since you left,” Jacob said, making me avert my eyes from him.
“No, I’m just not taking anyone's shit,” I claimed, shaking my head.
“So about who you’re living with, is she cute?” I hear Jared ask from behind me. I rolled my eyes huffing.
“Don’t you have a girlfriend, Jared? Named Kim?” I inquired, narrowing my eyes at him.
“I was just asking,” Jared said, surrendering his hands.
“We’ll don’t ask next time. Like I told Jacob to mind your business same goes for you and Paul.” I replied, nodding my head.
“Would your friend like to come with you next time?” Emily asked, leaning against the counter.
“I’ll see if she’s available.” I smiled, nodding my head.
“Great, because I would love to meet her.” Emily bounced on her toes, clapping her hands together in excitement.
I grinned from ear to ear at Emily’s enthusiasm for meeting Autumn. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see my mate stare holes in the side of my head. Turning to him, I stared back while listening to his thoughts.
‘Damn, she’s beautiful.’
‘Thank you.’
‘Fuck, you can hear me?’
‘Yes. Since you’re my mate, we have a connection and can talk to each other outside of the pack.’
‘O-Oh, that makes sense.’
‘Can you answer a question for me?’
‘Sure. Ask away.’
‘Are you happy that I’m your imprint?’
‘I am.’
‘Good, I’m glad too.’
Shifting my gaze to Emily, she grins as she speaks, “So Sidney, are you going to school right now?”
“Not now, but soon though. With my friend.” I answered, nodding my head.
“What’s their name?” Paul asked, leaning close to me.
“Her name’s Autumn,” I replied, turning my head to Paul, who would not give up.
“She must be cute.” Jared laughed, nodding his head in approval.
“You’re not her type,” I tell him shaking my head.
"What is her type?" Jared asked, making me roll my eyes.
"Not you, so stop trying. Autumn won't be interested." I replied, smiling at him.
I watched as Jared's smile disappeared from his face making everyone else laugh at him.
"Look, now he's quiet.” Paul laughed, pointing at Jared.
"The same goes for you too, Paul. Maybe if the two of you weren’t in a hurry to cheat on your girlfriends, I wouldn't be how I am towards you.” I explained to Jared as he glared at me.
"Okay, that's enough. Apologize, Sidney.” Emily says to me, placing her hand on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry, Jared, for putting you on blast like that.” I apologized and continued speaking. “But it's not cool that you’re in a relationship and looking for other girls. It's not fair on your girlfriend, okay?” Jared nodded his head understanding the words I spoke.
"When are you going to visit dad?" Jacob questioned, making me look at him.
"Don’t know yet.” I shrugged my shoulders, taking a sip of water Emily handed me.
"Dad wants to see you, Sidney,” Jacob replied, making me roll my eyes.
"You told him I was back?" I questioned, narrowing my eyes at him.
"Yes, I did. Why? You didn’t want me to tell him?”Jacob questioned as a confused expression appeared on his face.
"Of course, I didn’t want you to tell him. I didn’t even want you guys to know I was still alive.” I replied, growing agitated.
"At least go for ten minutes. After that, you don’t have to visit dad ever again." Jacob tried to persuade me, but it wasn’t going to work.
"I'll think about it, Jacob,” I said, feeling my wolf clawing at the surface, wanting to shut my brother’s mouth.
It felt like everything was closing in on me. The voice of my brother grew louder in my ringing ears. My heart pounded in my chest, and I could feel myself beginning to change—teeth elongated and eyes glowing gold.
Embry’s POV
I couldn’t believe the scene that unfolded in front of me. My imprint, my soulmate, is a wolf, just like the rest of us. But I feel like she’s a different species of wolf. Sidney heavily breathed as she ignored Jacob’s plea to visit Billy. Sidney’s face had anger written all over it.
Sidney’s hands grew claws. FUCKING CLAWS! She scratched against the wooden table in Emily’s kitchen.
“Jake, shut up.” I gasped, trying to get him to close his mouth.
"It won't do her any harm if she-” Jacob said, and what transpired next happened in slow motion.
The memories of what happened to her years ago flooded Sidney’s head, and she snapped. "I said I'll think about it, SO DROP IT, JAKE!”
Sidney snatched Jacob up by his throat, slamming him on the table, and everyone gasped.
“Sidney, stop.” Sam’s voice echoes throughout the house.
“You’re not my Alpha,” Sidney growled with her hands still squeezing Jacob’s throat.
Shit, Embry, you have to think of something. What to do? What to do? I did the first thing that came to mind and got up and out of my chair. I walked up to Sidney and placed my hand around her wrist.
“Sidney let go,” I said, looking into her glossy eyes.
“No. I’m sick of Jacob’s shit. He’s caused me so much pain.” Sidney sniffled as tears fell down her face.
“Sidney, look at me.” She hesitates but turns her head towards me. The color on Jake’s face began to fade. “It’s okay, but you have to let him go.”
Sidney whimpered, looking at her brother before she released him, causing Jacob to gasp as he coughed. I helped Jacob off the table as Sidney glanced at everyone with tears falling down her face. She darted for the door and ran outside. I didn't have a chance to stop her before she got on her bike and rode away.
"I have to make sure she's okay," I said to Sam as he stood behind me.
"I think it'd be best if you let her cool off," Emily said, shaking her head from the doorway.
I shook my head, wishing I could have said something to Sidney before she sped off. My soulmate was hurt, and I could feel the pain in my chest.
Sidney's POV
Slamming the house door with tears running down my face, I stomped up the stairs to my room before locking the door behind me. I laid face down on the bed and cried into my pillow as I curled up into a ball. Many emotions flowed through my veins—hurt, confusion, devastation, and anger. Anger because Jacob knows how I feel towards my father at the moment. He knows I’m not ready to face my dad because he acted like I didn’t exist.
How can someone pretend their youngest daughter doesn’t exist? All I wanted from my dad was his love, and I couldn’t even get that. Was it something I did? I just wanted answers.
I didn’t hear Autumn walk into my room through my weeping until her body hit my bed, and I listened to her soft voice. “What’s wrong, Sidney.” She ran her hand through my hair, sweeping it from my face.
“My fucking brother pushed me. Jacob told my dad that I was alive and kept pleading with me to go see him.” I explained, wiping the tears from my face.
“Oh, it’s going to be okay.” Autumn crooned, rubbing my back soothingly as she hugged me.
“How can he pretend I don’t exist? My sisters raised me before Rachael and Rebecca left for school.” I expressed, shaking my head. “He swept everything under the rug.”
“I know that, Sidney, and it wasn’t right.” Autumn sighed, placing a kiss on my head.
“It hurts, you know. Knowing that your mother is dead and your father disowned you.” I sniffled, nodding my head. “I feel like I have no one.”
“Listen to me; you have the pack and me. We’re always here for you.” Autumn reassured me as I looked up into her brown eyes. “How about you take a shower, then we’ll relax and cuddle.”
“Sounds good.” I nodded my head smiling at the thought.
As my best friend left my room, I got out of bed and headed to my bathroom, where I turned on the shower. While waiting for the water to warm up, I stared at myself in the mirror. Sometimes I couldn’t recognize myself in my reflection. My eyes told a different story holding pain in her heart: someone who wanted her father’s love and acceptance.
I stripped out of my clothes and stepped inside the shower, right under the hot water, letting out a sigh. The water ran down my body as I spaced out, staring at the wall. All the memories of what I suffered years ago came to mind, and I cried again. It truly hurts me that my father disowned me like I was a disgrace to him. I was supposed to look at him as a role model and guidance in life but instead I look at him with resentment.
Rinsing the fresh tears off my face, I began washing. After feeling clean, I turned the water off, stepped out of the shower, and wrapped my towel around my body. As I walked into my room, I could smell the aroma of food and assumed Autumn was cooking something. Once I threw on something comfortable, I headed downstairs to where the scent resided. Autumn handed me a plate with friend lunch meat on bread with cheese once I walked into the kitchen.
I thanked her and then bit into the sandwich savoring the flavor of the charred meat and melted cheese. We talked a little bit before calling it a night and heading up to my room. Autumn lay beside me in bed as I rested my head on her chest.
"You know, whatever happens between you and your family, just know that the pack and I are always here. We're all your family." Autumn said in a delicate soft tone.
"Thank you, Autumn," I replied, hugging her closer to me.
"Maybe you should talk to your father whenever you're ready one day." My best friend suggested rubbing my head.
"Hmm, maybe," I mumbled, shrugging my shoulders.
The feeling of Autumn massaging my scalp made me sleepy fast. As I closed my eyes, I couldn't help but think of what a good friend Autumn is and that maybe she's right about speaking to my dad.
